I've lived in 2 other countries and have traveled in other countries but it's just very difficult to leave Singapore. I agree with everything that you've said in this video and I could attest to all of these! I once met a kiwi couple on the MRT departing changi. They had just arrived on the morning flight, placed their baggage in the rental facility and will spent the whole day in Singapore. They will then return in the same evening, claim their bags and check-in for their flight to London. And they plan to do the same on their return leg. What a brilliant idea!

I always find it amusing to see how expats/foreigners view singapore. I agree 1000% that there's really nowhere like Singapore when it comes to safety. It's something that people can take easily for granted but I absolutely love not having to care about whether I put my wallet in my front or back pocket. The mental load from having to be cautious all the time is tiring, and I feel so even when travelling in Japan.
That said, I do feel Singapore has fewer things to offer compared to other big cities. I suppose being a local just means you have different lenses and the grass is always going to be greener BUT i do love our zoo :3

I’ve been here since 1998 (I was 5) so slightly over 20 years now. In paper I’m a foreigner but at heart I’m Singaporean.
It’s safe and many things are such walking distance, which I love. I took this safety for granted, so when I went overseas for uni, I had to take a lot of precautions and remember not everything is like singapore.
There are just to little things to do, and really covid just shows how many things we can do to destress as compared to other countries.

As a Kiwi living in Singapore for last 15 years I agree with your assumptions however you do have a different perspective on activities after a few years of living here. How many times can you do the same activities without getting bored. This is where NZ trump's Singapore with the ability to road trip somewhere new for the weekend. Glad your enjoying life here and yes you can certainly live a cheaper life using hawkers. Love my roti prata and teh tarik for $3 in the morning.

Taxi feels a little expensive to me but that's cos i compare it to the MRT and Bus haha. I remember very well when taxi didn't have the starting charge of $2+, the charges only start the moment you hail it down so my grandma would often just take the Taxi even though it's like a 200m walk from the market back home 🤣 Only when i went to Australia back in 1999 i realize how crazy expensive Taxi was over there compared to what we have today in Singapore.

Singapore has very cheap public transport. But you are right, compared to other countries, taxis are super cheap.

Comparatively, I was staying in Tekapo for a year and have never once felt unsafe about anything at all! Gosh, I miss NZ so so much. Wouldn't have come back if Covid hadn't struck. The grass is definitely always greener on the other side haha.

For sure. Places like Tekapo are very safe. But Auckland (NZ biggest city) is definitely not as safe as Singapore.
