< The United States has many problems, but most of them lack clear solutions, so they remain unsolved problems. However, one major problem that has a clear solution, in my opinion, is the US tax code. Please note that this is not a general complaint against US taxes, on the contrary, I personally believe that as a US citizen we get a lot of benefit from the taxes we pay and the IRS does a pretty good job of keeping everything in order, but it's a rail against overly complex, convoluted and incredibly inconsistent laws about how taxes are calculated that are so riddled with loopholes and free passes that they have become a pervasive injustice to ordinary Americans.

    • @Aless.D
      @Aless.D Před rokem +7

< The solution: Throw away the tax code and come away with a much more simplified (but not necessarily different) tax system, mostly by removing most of the exemptions and exceptions that benefit very, very few. (In fact, although I'm no expert, I would estimate that 99% of the existing tax code does not benefit the 95% of taxpaying US citizens.)>>

For the people who want to enjoy the spectacular or fascinating landscape ,Singapore is really not the option due to the place are too small.
Singapore is also not a food paradise compared to Taiwan and Malaysia ,both of them possess way further cultural and exotic foods but I have to agree Singapore is a place where got a lot of delicious culinary delicacies.
Nonetheless,Singapore is genuinely convenience just like the guy in this video talk about. I can just take a card going outside for a whole day without taking a lot of stuffs.
Plus the Singapore crime rate is incontrovertible low compared to the any countries in the world.

Sg is multi racial & multi religious. Our National Language is Malay. Sg has 4 official languages: English, Chinese, Malay & Tamil. English is our daily working language. In schools, our children learn English as a first language and their mother tongue (Chinese or Malay or Tamil) as 2nd language. Hence, Singaporeans are bi-lingual. Singspore is not expensive to live in if you could integrate into our local food & dwelling culture. If you could rent & lived in HDB flats like 80% of Singaporeans and eat at our hawker centers, you don’t need the extra perks / allowances to your salary. At hawker centers or even some coffee shops you can get a plate of chicken rice at S$2.00 to S$2.50, local coffee with condensed milk at S$1.00. But if your lifestyle is strictly western steak, pasta at Western Restaurants & Starbucks coffee, then you will have to pay for extra costs.

I'm a Singaporean who did an internship in the US last year. Loved every second there that I'm actually exploring moving there. Guess grass is always greener on the other side haha.
    Advantage of US:
    1. Cars are cheap. In non populous areas parking is free which is a plus. Prefer to drive to places than to take the public transport.
    2. Great scenery all around. On my drive to work there are nice mountains on the horizon. Plenty of interesting landmarks and parks to drive to anytime I want.
    3. Huge country. I was in san francisco, so if I wanted to I can drive to LA for the weekend. There's always a variety of places to see and to explore.
    4. Weather. Probably one of the biggest pet peeves people have in Singapore. San Francisco isn't even that cold but to me it is perfect.
    5. People seem generally friendlier, and are more open to talk to you than people in Singapore who are just going about their day.
    6. Seemingly better work life balance. People are not as uptight as they are in SIngapore.
    Advantages of Singapore:
    1. Safety. You can literally be out till 3am every night and pretty much be sure that nothing bad will happen to you (as long as you don't go find trouble). In US I find myself avoiding to walk around late at night by myself. Car breakins are common even in "good" neighbourhoods, so there was always that fear of leaving a valuable in plain sight for thieves to steal.
    2. Food is cheap. There is no such thing as $3 hawker food in the US. A cheap restaurant meal would be about 10USD at the very least, non inclusive of tax and tips.
    3. Public transport is more convenient. Although I haven't personally taken the public transport in the US, my friends have complained that it is not as convenient as it is here. But for me who prefers driving, this isn't that big of a plus.
    4. Government is stable for the most part, and there are no protests and riots here. If the government says to wear a mask you can bet almost everyone is gonna wear a mask.

My theory on Pizzas and Burgers is that a lot of restaurants are established by westerners from Europe and Australia who don't traditionally eat pizzas and burgers like Americans. The rest of the world doesn't have a tradition of specializing in all types of pizzas from flat, to deep dish pies, to NYC, doughy, etc etc. Even burgers aren't done properly by Australians, they'll make the beef very chunky and chewy (I guess to make it more steak like?). In the US, beef patties, no matter their thickness, will be fairly well ground.

A lot of expat like Newton hawker centre but slightly a bit more expensive than other hawker centres still ok. The Malays are the indigenous people of the land. That’s why although the lingua-franca is English, the national language is Malay till this day, and the national anthem is still sung in the same. The only reason why the chinese are the majority, as correctly pointed out in this video, is due to certain policies in the country which maintain the population of racial groups in the land because of political reasons.

You can request for no MSG when ordering food or just avoid place/s that have MSG pre-made food like l usually do when looking for daily meal. As for sanitation depends on what you are referring to. For me, l avoid mrt toilets as much as l can and always go to the malls as they are slightly better. I am a Singaporean by the way😊

Two-thirds of Singaporeans have English as their "at home" language. Even still, don't use your home slang, speak slowly, and learn some of the local "Singlish" or at least the Singaporean interpretations and pronunciations of words.
Food is not expensive if you eat as a local. Eat Western food and it will cost you a bomb, as almost all of it is imported.
24 to 26 degrees overnight, 32 to 34 degrees during the day- yes, Singapore is METRIC like almost the entire rest of the world- and year-round humidity averages 83 per cent.
Okay. Pizza. Most of the popular pizzas use turkey meat where you would normally expect pork, for obvious reasons. McDonald's and KFC also have unique menu items for Singapore, but the usual favourites are there.
#MyRights #My Freedoms #MyGuns all mean very little in Singapore. The common good is very much favoured over the rights of the individual. Boat rockers get slapped down pretty hard and fast in Singapore.

Well, daytime temperature from 32 to 34 deg, to some westerners might think that is not too "hot" because some of them live in places where the temperature could up to 40 deg in the summer but very low humidity, therefore their sweat dry up very fast.
They did not consider the high humidity in SG where the mean annual relative humidity is 83.9%. Therefore the sweat will not dry up very fast.

Food isn't that expensive if you are willing to eat where the locals eat at. If you want to live like an expat and always go to restaurants to eat then it will be quite expensive. Regarding western food, I feel like you meant American food. You can definitely find authentic italian and french restaurant but you do pay ALOT more than the "western" food in the hawker centers or the food court. It is not surprising to find that the food has been changed to adapt to the local palate as well. Asian most notably Chinese food becomes Americanized for American palate. American Chinese food cannot be found in China or parts of Asia as well.
