    When I played uprising for the first time I started a skirmish without playing campaign. I played allied against a soviet and empire enemies. Once I'm done with soviets I sent few of my guardian tanks to hit the empire base. Suddenly a laser went through them and all the tanks exploded. That was the first time I saw Giga fortress. That was like a scene from a movie.

      @@gritsevetspavlichenko452 Yeah, that's why in the campaign they butchered them since they are a major threat. Kinda like when Scrin arrived, GDI and Nod teamed up together to get rid of that nuisance.
      That leads me thinking: The two old factions (Allies & Soviets, GDI and Nod) should always team up in order to defeat the newcomers (Empire, Scrin). Does that mean they're just soe weak by themselves?

      Imbalanced? By the time you can build one a competent enemy would've had plenty of AA to fight it or build their own "Heavy Air" units that they're already sending to your base along WITH good AA and considering the Empire has poor AA well... you get the picture. It's easier to build/rush and use Kirovs and a lot less costly to lose them. That and they have their boost which get's them faster to their "funzone".
      Tl;DR Yes they feel imbalanced but considering they cost so much to build , are a pain to lose, and can't really have more then one in a reasonable amount of time compared to the others I'd say they're pretty damn fair

    Also as op as the giga fortress is, it also suffers from being completely helpless when they come out of the docks (it’s built as a nanocore and needs to be constructed like a building, in which it can’t fight) while Kirovs and harbingers can fight as soon as they are built, so if you’re under attack the enemy has the chance to do more damage or destroy your giga before it can even fight. Also, imperial structures are all upgraded separately, as opposed to allied and Soviet structures which share upgrades, so if that giga fortress-capable docks is destroyed you can’t build any more giga fortresses until you upgrade another docks.

    the problem with this comparison is that, whilst these units are the most expensive and possibly the strongest for their respected faction, they fill completely different roles
    The kirov bomber is a base killer, its slow, but has a lot of health and does a lot of damage, making it ideal for static targets and base killing (even on death it crashes and does a lot of damage to anything below)
    The harbinger gunship is a fast moving, anti-ground support unit, being able to gun down infantry quick and deal with heavy vehicles fairly quickly also. its main drawback beside its cost is its inability to engage aircraft and its hard to repair (its flight cycle means its hard for repair drones to heal it). Whilst it is good for engaging bases, the century bomber does that role better.
    The giga-fortress can take on 2 roles. In its sea form, its a heavily armed naval unit capable of taking on small armies by itself, and in its sky form, its a super long range heavy artillery platform that outranges and out damages any other unit in the game. But each one form comes at a downside. The naval variant cannot engage things that are well in land, so its limited to ship engaging and possible costal attacks, its also vulnerable to terror drones, which prevent it from transforming if they get in. Its sky form can attack anywhere , but its heavily vulnerable to air units and fast aa units on the ground, since its slow moving, can only fire in a line and the damage is only dealt after the initial attack. A good player could easily micro-manage a single aa unit to avoid any of its attacks.

      Giga fortresses are also very vulnerable against Vacuum Imploder (Soviet super weapon) strikes. I do remember destroying 8 of Giga fortresses with one Vacuum strike. The missile just sucked and teared apart them while Harbingers can easily escape from Vacuum blast zone. Gigas simply can't escape. They are very slow ass and usually moving and positioning together.

      The harbinger can also 1v1 pretty much anything not in the air, often winning against a single gigafortress assuming they both have no veterancy (atleast in my tests). It struggles to kill yuriko but can be done if it’s cannons knock her down before she pulls it out of the sky. Although the same can be said for gigfortress, the harbinger is almost half the cost.

      @archerburns When I tested it, the Harbinger and Giga Fortress killed each other. In a 1v1 between Giga Fortress and Kirov, the Kirov won with just under half HP remaining. This was with no micro of course.

      In classic RA3 Soviets slightly superior, in Uprising, their enemies get game changer new units but Soviets almost get nothing. However, my go faction is USSR as always. Twinblades, Migs, Kirovs, Dreadnoughts, Hammer tanks etc can still hold themselves but you become a very spam, hit and run type player in Uprising with Soviets unlike RA3. In RA3, Soviets have clearly more firepower.

      bro the harbinger can literally just stun-lock her with their cannons, they are the most blatantly OP unit the game. They have basically no counters except for disproportionately massive AA or fighter spam, but guess what, they are allied plane, meaning you can just escort them with Appollo which just smokes every other fighter ez.

      @@saopro21 pretty sure Migs are way better than apolo. Apolo have the speed but the Migs have missiles and gun, alowing them to deal way more burst damage.
      Edit: Disregard this, I haven't played in a long time, apparently Migs doesn't even have gun, only slow ass missiles. Or maybe they did in the original Ra3, but not uprising. Damn allies is op in uprising.

      I had a bad experience with those, I jam them but other gigas show up or some other units show up and kill my hydrofoil and if all gigas get silenced they try to land on top of the hydrofoils, that's why I maintain atleast 4 airfields worth of Apollos and as many harbingers I can spam.

    The Kirov was balanced thanks to its lack of speed and need to fly directly over a target to damage it.
    The Harbinger and Giga Fortress' higher cost do nothing to counteract how overpowered they are. They can't destroy a target as a quickly since they don't fire endlessly but that is countered by their range.
    Habringers are far too mobile for their firepower and armor. Advanced Aeronautics makes them more durable than the Kirov while adding more shots and shorter reload time, as if it needed anything to make it deadlier. A group of four or five and destroy most any target in a single volley. To top it all off the chaingun gives it a punch against infantry and light vehicles, so it can easily counter the types of ground units that are supposed to be its weakness.
    Giga Fortresses have far to much range their death ray. Anti-air structures are useless since it will destroy them from outside their range. If it's over water it can go back to fortress mode and destroy any aircraft sent to shoot it down.
    It's easy to see why Uprising has no multiplayer, nobody even tried to balance the new units.

      The non super units in Uprising really do belong in the base game I feel. Maidens would help the Empire a lot with low-tier AA, all of the new Soviet units fit in OK with the existing game, and the Legionnaire is fine for its cost.
      Really wish they'd just made the Harbinger, the artillery thing, and the Giga Fortress campaign only and properly balanced the rest.

      @@VioIetShift I agree with you on the Archer Maidens since the Empire's AA is really weak, especially in the early game as you pointed.
      Not sure about the Future Tank being in since I have seen one of those things take on over a half dozen tier 1 tanks and win. Even with the reduced damage from their force attack I still once saw four of them take twelve twinblades (the twinblades were sent in piecemeal but I'm not sure if that would have mattered since a group eight still lost).
      The only problem with keeping the Soviet units is the Mortar Cycle. It's an artillery unite that comes out at tier 1 and is extremely fast.

    Kirov: the most cost effective but needs some clever plan or a lot of support to shine in all his glory
    Harbringer: basically Kirov but better suited for the direct fights and lone flights

    All are very nice units. Kirov airship is slow but it does more damage and is more tanky also more cheap!!! Giga fortress is just op if you make many…… and the planes ✈️ are also op and fast but they need care because they go everywhere lol

    Gameplay stats
    Empire;
    With "Fortified fleet" and "Advanced Rocket Pods" and maybe "Robotic Assembly". ( If game goes late).
    Giga-Fortress is a force to be reckoned with. They are unstoppable at sea and you got minimal chances in winning at land whether you're using Empire,Allies, or Soviet.
    Soviets has greater chances in taking them out by ground because Bullfrogs can kite the easily. IFVs and Striker VXs have to stop to attack.
    Bring them to dryland and Aerial Dogfights will bring this monster down. Imperial fighter escorts are weak and fragile. Watch out for their numbers.
    Allies;
    Is actually my favorite, Harbinger Gunships are highly mobile and can perform Smash and Run smoothly thanks to their speed. With "Advanced Aeronautics" and "High Technology" it becomes sturdier and highly precise when shooting its collider cannons.
    Ground forces and static defence can take them down quite well especially IFVs with Cryo-Legionnaires.
    Aerial Dogfights will also bring them down easily. Watch out for fighter escorts though.
    Soviets;
    Now this is quite tricky.
    Kirov's are durable slow bombers. Highly vulnerable to ground AA and dogfights.
    Where does is his strength really lies?
    Answer? Easy!!
    He's cheap and easy to tech!
    With 2.5 k with battle lab you can mass produce them in less than 5 minutes. 6 Kirovs would suffice to catch your enemy off-guard and rape his base.
    In a real game, Kirovs can destroy you much faster in a speed run due to this factor.
    Giga-Fortresses are super expensive and so is Harbinger Gunships. Plus teching them will take time and money.
    If this is real life game, Kirov's should not be underestimated.

      Yeah, the Kirov was disadvantaged here for a few reasons. The first and biggest is force fire. Queueing up a series of force fire targets makes it move to each one and stop until it explodes. In an actual attack, you take a couple Kirovs and send them on a vector that passes over as much enemy stuff as possible and they just torch everything while moving.
      Second was price scaling in the multiple attackers test. Two giga fortresses cost the same as five Kirovs, and three harbingers cost as much as four Kirovs.

    Do keep in mind that Giga Fortress has Fortified Fleet and Advanced Rocket Pods (which only applies to its ship form), and Harbinger has both Advanced Aeronautics and High Technology, while Kirov has none of these luxuries. Also, the true horror of the Harbinger lies in its insane synergy with cryocoptors. You don't need to spam Harbingers. Just get one out and do a normal cryo spam, and they will instakill entire armies with just a chain gun.

    The allied and empire ones are ok. But nothing will send chills down your spine as much as when you hear "Kirov reporting".

    All 3 are powerful, but my favorite is the Harbinger Gunship. Its chain gun is used for accurate elimination of units especially those that are moving quickly. While the collider cannons is used for buildings or for slow moving units, so it can target almost anything on the ground with ease. It's vulnerable to AA units and fighters but it can escape easily since it's not just durable, it's also pretty fast. The flight path of the Harbinger also makes it hard for AA ground units to take it down especially if the terrain is crowded with obstacles or not flat. Another use for its quickness is easily doing hit and run on enemies, you harass them while they can't catch your gunships. They're pretty expensive but not as expensive as the Giga so you can make 2-4 units later on in the game and they'd sweep an enemy's base with ease when used right. Also, I just love putting them in aggressive mode and watch them circle around and obliterate my enemy from above with no mercy.

    At the end of the day the most Terrifying is still the Giga fortress just cuz of its shear damage, range and versitility. But the cost and the use of it will decide how it performs. For example, versusing against Harbingers and Kirovs in sea mode is practical Suicide, although as for the Kirovs you might be able to out run it without its ability activated, for the Harbingers how ever, good word of advice unless you have a 5:1 ratio dont even think about it, and even then you'd still probably lose 1 Giga before the Harbinger goes down. Harbingers are practically your most "COST EFFICIENT" unit of all 3 factions, their not cheap nor are they too expensive, they deal good amounts of damage, are biased against migs cuz they take less damage, they have speed and you can micro them, they are good against infantry and a group of 2 or more can kill Yuriko safely if they engage first. Kirovs lastly, cheap, slow, does alot of damage, thats about it though, if you think of it normally that is.... get 2 rows of Kirovs path find then into a formation on the other side of the enemy base, set them to agressive and make sure to clear out any pesky AA aircraft along the way and enjoy the show is how in my opinion the best way to savour the wait as they fly and flatten the earth.

    I got a mod that lets me use uprising units in the campaign (along with other things)
    I tech-rushed into spamming harbingers. 4 or 5 are just so satisfying to watch!

    Gunship is the most satisfying unit in red alert I feel. Building siegers have always been incredibly slow moving (prism tank, kirov, v4, etc.) so it's refreshing to see one that moves so fast, although it's probably terribly imbalanced.

    I thought that the Giga Fortress would be the strongest and most imba engine, but the Kirov is still the most tenacious unit (airborne for sure), and in terms of firepower it is not inferior, or maybe even superior. Although the Soviet Santa Claus is weaker than its competitors due to the fact that it is forced to slowly crawl directly to the target, and not destroy almost half of the enemy’s base from two salvoes from its base, like a fortress, or, almost keeping up with the fighters, throw shells like Harbinger, and besides the air warehouse of the bombs need protection from ground forces (mainly from Yuriko, but also from some Javelin soldiers or Combat robots the “TwinBlades” will not be superfluous).

    Giga Fortress is way too humble for a weapon of mass destruction. Also, Harbinger Gunships flying in packs are the worst nightmare.

    All i know is that the kirov airship gives you anxiety, fear and depression when you hear its voice back in RA2, and destroying it while your units are under also pack a punch.

    so Kirovs should be bigger, 'thicker' than this

    Uprising developers when designing the Harbinger:
    -“I really like playing as the Allies, so let's give them a slight softcore advantage but nothing too hardcore”
    -“Make an air artillery unit based of the irl Gunship, with both standard artillery attacks and anti-peraonal HROF machine gun, you know vanilla stereotype stuff”
    -“But make the artillery projectiles straight up better version of the Proton Collider without holding back any punches, also said HROF machine gun is 50 cal so it should instantly kill all infantry units and melt trough lightly armoured units such as MFV & Bullfrogs with ease”
    -“Also make the Proton Collider artillery projectiles instantaneous with huge AOE so that this unit can't be countered by those pesky Bullfrogs or physically touched by infantry AA units”.
    -“Also make it the 3rd fastest air unit in the game with 5/6th the HP of a Kirov on top of nasty air circling path by default so that even MIG's and Apollo's would have hard time countering it”.
    -“Also make it fairly cheap for it's effectiveness with around the same price as a Kirov”.
    -“Uh oh yea 'balance', make the Giga fortresses cost a bajillion dollars and repurpose it as a water-specific building so it's physically impossible to be obtained on landlocked maps. Also make Kirovs super fragile by removing their armour, reducing their HP by 30% and nerfing their auto-heal”.

    Funny things about Giga fortress
    - the only air unit known able to crush another air unit if it stand above it during folding sequence
    - is super expensive even more than super weapon
    -it water form is much weaker than its air counterpart
    -despite having no air crew and run fully autonomous it can be bribed by Spy for measly 1k
    -able to outrange almost all base defense when at air mode
    -is Insanely quick to reload in air form

    Kirov are slow but they are cheap and fast to produce and can produce in large numbers and can take heavily damage from AA while slowly destroy your small empire

    While the Kirov cannot hold a candle to the Harbinger and Giga-Fortress, at least it's better than in RA2 as it can attack while not on top of its target. At the same time, though, there are many more hard counters (namely, the fact fighter jets exist).

    The flak units which are bullfrogs and flak troopers may not do a lot of damage as the missile base troops but their guns are capable of a small AOE attack

    Yesterday I had a weird dream. I saw a zipping. when I drive closer to it, I find it has a giant nuke attached to it..... I drove off the high way after it drops the nuke to find a basement but it was too late. I always think I can embrace inevitable death but well survival is human’s nature😂

    Although the Giga Fortress was one of my favourite in the Empire of the Rising Sun, the unit had two major setbacks.
    The first setback was that Giga Fortess first form, the Nano Core was very vulnerable and weak to enemy attack especially air attacks. Moreover, it need quite some time to transform into the Giga Fortress and also could be easily destroyed.
    The second setback was unlike other Empire units that could be deployed land such as the Tsunami Tank, Mecha Tengu and Sudden Transport, the Giga Fortress' Nano Core form could only be deployed at the sea, not land. Maps with land only is a bane to the Giga Fortress and also the Empire of the Rising Sun.

      the way the giga fortress is built is backwards, its fast to produce the nanocore but its longer to actually fully deploy it, and if you look at the nanocores for your buildings they take longer to produce but unfurl quite quickly once there

      It’s kinda like the Allies in the first Red Alert. Naval superiority is their biggest advantage, but if you take the water away, their best Avenue is completely unusable.
      (Granted, Red Alert 3 handles this better due to how the maps are constructed, but still.)
