Good FM, easy to use guns, okay missile. It’s a pretty forgiving plane and is a middle ground, being bad at nothing but not great at much either. I totally agree with your point. It’s easy to start getting into high tier jets with it, but still requires a bit of skills and top tier mechanics to play it efficiently
Have both F4 and F5, lots going for the F5, engines arent one of them, but main letdown for me is gun reliance. I cant hit a damn thing over 800kph, so i end up bogged down in a minutes long dogfight trying to bleed 1 target to a point i can kill him, only to look arround and find everything else is already dead. So while i have a blast in both of em, for me the F4 is far more lucrative

The F4 might feel a bit easier to engage fast target thanks to the pretty decent AOA the F4 seem to pull sometimes, but both are very similar in the end. I think F5 would be better for fun, and preparing for top tier combat, while F4, while more boring, is more RP efficient
I must say that the J35XS can be worth the money if you want to grind the whole tech tree, take only flares and watch out for radar missiles, I easily get 4+ kill games in it, and if someone is up high at the start of the match try the the giraffe maneuver and oh try to keep the irst on most of the time.

As someone whos been playing for 8 years, here are the most dominant premium tanks/planes: F5C is excellent in both air and ground rb and can multi-role as a ground pounder with awesome payload options. Leo 2A4 is the best 10.3 in the game right now - superb mobility, gun handling, armor and survivability as long as you play it efficiently. JA35XS Draken is a better version than tech tree and can easily out-dogfight everything, but you must learn the weird guns and how to manage your energy (as with any jet) T-55AM-1 is one of the best grinders for Russia. Gets laser rangefinder + strong APHE/APFSDS + ATGM with somewhat good armor and mobility. Kfir Canard is possibly the greatest SL grinder if you like Air RB - Israel's air tree is extremely boring though and nothing stands out at top tier. Click-Bait is pretty strong but it will be without a lineup for MONTHS as you grind in the highly cancerous top tier environment. If you at least have the M1 Abrams unlocked, then I would recommend. XM-1/KVT is good but not great. You need to have map knowledge to make them work best. CV90105 is okay, really strong gun/mobility, but it's a huge target and gets 1 shot by everything The mid ones are: A5C, F4S, TURMS, Type 96A (P), Su-39, Su25k, Mig-21 Bis Lazur-M, F104S TAF, Leo L/44, Type 16 (FPS), Mig 23 ML, Mirage F1C, A-6E TRAM and the helicopter packs. They are okay, but they all severely suffer in uptiers and/or if you are a noob. The worst of the worst are the ones not mentioned. They will make you want to uninstall and kys because even in downtiers, they just aren't good. My bottom 2 premiums I wouldnt even play if gifted to me are F4J (UK) and the Tornado IDS. Both are absolutely terrible in both Air and Ground RB.
All the British phantoms are pretty great! I average 2 kills in them thanks to the Spey engines - if you climb to about 3000m at the start of the game you can flank the entire enemy team quicker than anyone else and simply dump missiles onto everyone!
Picked up the f104s. It's ok in RB. But you get uptiered most of the time. However I mainly play sim. And them that thing is nice in there. In sim it's a 10.3 so it is always (near the) top in it's bracket. That combined with 6 aim 9ps makes it a monster

f4j-uk isn't very bad compared to the other planes you can get, it's bad in comparison to the f4s performance wise, but what really carries the f4juk is the Skyflashes. I find better luck with it when I use it as a low altitude head-on machine. the Skyflashes are extremely hard to dodge from 5-7km away when you get a good lock on someone with the PD radar.
@@fate3071really the only main downside for the f4j-uk is no hmd and no agile eagle slats, but those improvements are negligible at best in an F4J because you have an instant lock-on TWS system that locks to a target up to 45km away, and the F4 being a flying brickhouse doesn't really need turning improvements if you dont play it as a turnfighter anyway. compared to everything else you could buy in it's tier, mig-23ml has shit radar, f4ej-adtw has shit missiles, mirage f1 doesn't have enough good missiles, the f4j-uk has a pretty respectable and balanced loadout and features, second only to the f4s in the American tech tree really. plus, the British tech tree is very much worth the grind if you're looking for jets with unorthodox effective playstyles like the harrier or the tornado. the sea harrier in particular is my favorite because it shits on every a-10 mains.
@r1zmy the F-4J in the US tech tree doesn't have agile eagle either, so it's only really outdone by the F-4S in overall performance. The F-4E/EJ/Kurnass don't have a good enough radar set to compete and so rely on gun and sidewinders much more
I bought the F4EJ ADTW and im gettin many 3-5 kill games while carrying rockets for 1 base. Its fun and a good grinder imo, but im also a very expierienced top tier pilot.
i dunno if im just massive skill issue but, i've dogfighted a j35xs with every american rank 8 and some rank 7s and most rank 8 russian jets and the j35xs absolutely steam rolls all of them in a traditional dogfight. in my experience, not a mid flight model
I've been using the J35XS for a few months and I hate flying it. Even with a high level crew taking hard turns almost instantly puts you into G lock, so trying to do sustained turns to keep up with other aircraft is such a pain

The F-4J(UK) isn't the worst premium in the game, not even close to being that. The F-4EJ ADTW is way worse, the Tornado WTD is worse, the F-104.S only is saved by being 11.0 instead of 11.3 and there are plenty lower tier premiums that aren't good for anything but goofing around. Sure you don't get a HMS, but it's not a huge loss. The Skyflashes aren't as bad as people seem to think they are and the only other difference is the gunpod, with the UK one getting a GAU-4 with more ammo and a higher rate of fire, but also more drag, which is a fair tradeoff. And no, this isn't me coping because I have buyers remorse. I don't even have the F-4J(UK) myself, but I did use the Spey Phantoms a lot and they have the same tradeoffs, just with different engines.
The Spey Phantoms are very much carried by their engines though. Without them you're just outclassed by the F-4S spam. I haven't played the FGR since the latest update but I imagine the multipathing changes make all British Phantoms harder to play, since before you could at least multipath the AIM 9F coming your way before your Skyflash hits (or at least tries to).

It does demonstrate the extreme powercreep and a bias in gaijins way of balancing BRs tho (F-4S being a very popular premium, being picked up by loads of players that don't really know how to make use of its advantages) There are dozens of premium tanks that are pure dogshit and there are lots of premium planes that are worse at their respective BRs than a slightly worse F-4J at 11.3
ive gotten to top tier in russia and ive done rather well in the su27 and mig29's etc, would you recomend me the f4s or the f5c for grinding the us tech tree?
I've grinded USA with 5C and Japan with F4. F5c needs too much time and you actually have to be on alert all times in match. F4s are easiest grinders there are go for it, you wont regret it. + it has sparrows and PD unlike japanese variant. Use mouse rockets. It will give you shit ton of RP.
i use the f4s and bomb small bases in sim averaging about 10 tonnes of tnt per game and like 1 - 2 kills and that gives you about 70 - 100k RP snd like 500k SL its the easiest way to grind. you canm use rockets too but i suck with them :)
Too much focus on "Grinding to Tier VIII" to be honest. I was contemplating between the Su-25K and the A-5C. Not really for grinding purposes, I already have Tier VIII with Britain and Germany. I just thought which one would be more fun? The modified MiG-19, a plane I already like, or the Su-25, Russian A-10. Thing is I have the A-10, and I just play it for fun. I am looking for another plane that can help me with general sl grind and maybe some xp grind, but overall, I want something fun. It's not like Tier VIII is the only thing in the game, while you are a Top Tier/Missile Thunder focused channel, Kinda 0 credit given to....anything under Missile Thunder......doesn't help Piston Engine planes losing their relevancy in the game rn. (We didn't even get the Bf-109s and the Me-210Ca for the Hungarian Subtree) I'm more on the sense, that you get a premium where it's either fun, or you struggle. The US Tech Tree is really solid, it's full of fun planes, from the P-40, through the P-51, F-80 F-86, F-100, F8U, you have a nice way up to top tier. Honestly it's quite a shame promoting buying the F-4S and grinding all the way to the F-16 with that. Germany is where I would advise the Tornado. Your journey to Tier V is absolutely wonderful, it's only Tier VI where it gets a bit sluggish, it's still full of solid planes, but Eh, the Tornado can get shit done, but in general Germany is a very Piston oriented tech tree, so it's rare somebody wants both Pistons and Missile Jets, and would find the Tornado useful. USSR is a very solid tree from the Biplanes to the Top, Transonic Gunfighters are just not really my dish, I do like them from time to time, but grinding with them is just too much, hence Su-25K. Always down for CAS. Britain is an absolute fuckfest, Tier II to Tier V is just perfect, I love it, Tier VI is a catastrophe, Talisman the Buccaneer S.2, or the Harrier Gr.3, even the Sea Harrier FRS.1, or if you want to hold out for a hero, Phantom FG.1 and FGR.2 are absolutely great, if you need it Talisman it, just DO NOT BUY THE F-4J(UK) For Japan, you want a premium out of reserve, I recommend the A7He1, the Bf-109E-7, or the F4U-1A, once you get the Ki-43 you're set for life. China is Solid, unlike their buildings, You're mostly set. Italy is suprisingly solid. It's good since Reserve, and where I'd recommend you get something, the Hungarian Subtree fixes up those holes well enough, that I say you're rather just set. The Starfighter isn't particularly good, I do recommend the AMX A-1A, (Because it is fun at least) You'll be there when it goes on sale. France is.....there is no way out of it, just buy the fucking Mirage, or find yourself a good low tier premium.....or Talisman the Hellcat, or better yet the P-63C-5. You are pretty much carried by US planes and Spitfire until the Jet age, where the fun begins. Sweden. Fine enough, except if you're a Draken fan, then I suggest just not even bothering and buying the Finnish Draken.
The sad reality is that most war thunder players these days that are buying these packs are doing so because they downloaded the game solely to play modern vehicles. Most new players literally do not care about props or early jets. As for people wanting to play those, buying one of these vehicles isn’t what I would recommend. You can save way more money by buying a premium prop or early jet or talismanning something, or hell, even do it free to play, as low tier stuff is dirt cheap. You’re not the target audience of this video
I think SEEK failed to notice the radar nerf on the ML. You cant use MTI anymore unless you are looking into the ground. Its dogfight capability is gutted, a Phantom can now win against it. So IMO, don't buy, its way too nerfed
Yes its worth it, its still a good plane and the dogfight capabilities dont matter when you slam enemies in the cockpit with r24r and any attempt at turnfighting ends with either you or the enemy getting slammed by 3rd party missile
I think so, the radar nerf is easy to workout around by just pointing your nose at the ground real quick before locking when the target is below the horizon. If this is a massive issue for you, it still has R24Ts instead of Rs which are still very strong missiles, and the FM isn’t a huge deal in 90% of your games. The main thing that I think would scare people away is the poor RWR, it doesn’t give you launch warnings, only lock warnings. This isn’t a new change though
I love the wart hog. In a downtier you slaughter mig-19s arietes and other jets that have no flares, and in an uptier you cal pull insane reversals. You also have a better turn circle than many other jets

@SeekerHead it autoswitches into MTI or LD(titleless) if you target is below the horizon relative to you so if they're above you mti is entirly unavailable or if in search mode your flying downwards

This isn't entirely true. Alot of games turn into a dogfight if it gets to just 1-2 players left per team. I probably have more gun kills than missile kills on my F-4EJ @MT11222
Sorry but, I stopped watching when you said F4EJ was bad🙂. Not everyones looking for fighters, especially new players. Same issue with Defyns video. I grinded japan with F4EJ and it was the best grinder I've ever used, You can grind whole TT in 10 days with it. Most of the premium planes are meant for easier progression through tech tree not for the sake of them being good platforms to fight with. Also people recommending F-5C, no, I grinded US with it, and I didn't enjoy single second of grinding with it(I love the plane itself, not the grind process) because A-5c would make 2x more RP with 5x less effort and time. + you have to be fully focused at all times. Fighter planes are most stressful grinders. Go for Lazy stuff like F4s, tornados and bombers.

What’s the point of grinding top tier with a bomber tho. When you’ll get your f16 or f15 after solely bombing bases in a f4e, you’ll be incapable of performing an average of 1 kill every 10 game. At least that’s a tendency I’ve seen quite a lot for years now. The learning curve is way harsher to people going this route imo. The F5C might be the best plane to get into high tier fighting, having all the necessary things (good FM, flares, missiles), without the hassle of having to deal with a radar and its constraints, while being at a very decent BR.

Believe it or not, pressing space bar on the same stationary target game in and game out isn’t enjoyable to many people. Many players like a bit more dynamic gameplay when playing a multiplayer game. I realize that’s your thing, but to many, THAT is the type of grind that is boring and exhausting

@@o4karik41the mig23 is still a very capable platform. It’s radar still doesn’t trigger half of the NATO jets being J band, so the r24r is a great missile *if used correctly*. The FM of the ML will still trounce every phantom every day of the week. It still has a good amount of usable missiles, between the r24 and r60, albeit not the best. I don’t play the 23, but I don’t have much issues with the MTI of the French F1C, so I’d be interested to hear about what’s wrong with the mig 23 in this aspect
No but it gives you premium bonus for what is within its rank efficiency. So for example, the MiG21SMT is a great plane to Talisman to grind rank VIII with, as I have done on my other account

i dunno if im just massive skill issue but, i've dogfighted a j35xs with every american rank 8 and some rank 7s and most rank 8 russian jets and the j35xs absolutely steam rolls all of them in a traditional dogfight. in my experience, not a mid flight model

I've been using the J35XS for a few months and I hate flying it. Even with a high level crew taking hard turns almost instantly puts you into G lock, so trying to do sustained turns to keep up with other aircraft is such a pain
@@fate3071 standard dorito quirk. Extreme AoA when turning, can practically shoot sideways but entire plane acts as airbrake. Mastering it is the difference between coma patients and jedi

The F-4J(UK) isn't the worst premium in the game, not even close to being that. The F-4EJ ADTW is way worse, the Tornado WTD is worse, the F-104.S only is saved by being 11.0 instead of 11.3 and there are plenty lower tier premiums that aren't good for anything but goofing around.
Sure you don't get a HMS, but it's not a huge loss. The Skyflashes aren't as bad as people seem to think they are and the only other difference is the gunpod, with the UK one getting a GAU-4 with more ammo and a higher rate of fire, but also more drag, which is a fair tradeoff.
And no, this isn't me coping because I have buyers remorse. I don't even have the F-4J(UK) myself, but I did use the Spey Phantoms a lot and they have the same tradeoffs, just with different engines.
The Spey Phantoms are very much carried by their engines though. Without them you're just outclassed by the F-4S spam. I haven't played the FGR since the latest update but I imagine the multipathing changes make all British Phantoms harder to play, since before you could at least multipath the AIM 9F coming your way before your Skyflash hits (or at least tries to).

It does demonstrate the extreme powercreep and a bias in gaijins way of balancing BRs tho (F-4S being a very popular premium, being picked up by loads of players that don't really know how to make use of its advantages)
There are dozens of premium tanks that are pure dogshit and there are lots of premium planes that are worse at their respective BRs than a slightly worse F-4J at 11.3
ive gotten to top tier in russia and ive done rather well in the su27 and mig29's etc, would you recomend me the f4s or the f5c for grinding the us tech tree?
If youre good at the game f5c, otherwise f4s is more reliable

I've grinded USA with 5C and Japan with F4. F5c needs too much time and you actually have to be on alert all times in match. F4s are easiest grinders there are go for it, you wont regret it. + it has sparrows and PD unlike japanese variant. Use mouse rockets. It will give you shit ton of RP.

i use the f4s and bomb small bases in sim averaging about 10 tonnes of tnt per game and like 1 - 2 kills and that gives you about 70 - 100k RP snd like 500k SL its the easiest way to grind. you canm use rockets too but i suck with them :)

Too much focus on "Grinding to Tier VIII" to be honest. I was contemplating between the Su-25K and the A-5C. Not really for grinding purposes, I already have Tier VIII with Britain and Germany. I just thought which one would be more fun? The modified MiG-19, a plane I already like, or the Su-25, Russian A-10. Thing is I have the A-10, and I just play it for fun. I am looking for another plane that can help me with general sl grind and maybe some xp grind, but overall, I want something fun.
It's not like Tier VIII is the only thing in the game, while you are a Top Tier/Missile Thunder focused channel, Kinda 0 credit given to....anything under Missile Thunder......doesn't help Piston Engine planes losing their relevancy in the game rn. (We didn't even get the Bf-109s and the Me-210Ca for the Hungarian Subtree)
I'm more on the sense, that you get a premium where it's either fun, or you struggle. The US Tech Tree is really solid, it's full of fun planes, from the P-40, through the P-51, F-80 F-86, F-100, F8U, you have a nice way up to top tier. Honestly it's quite a shame promoting buying the F-4S and grinding all the way to the F-16 with that. Germany is where I would advise the Tornado. Your journey to Tier V is absolutely wonderful, it's only Tier VI where it gets a bit sluggish, it's still full of solid planes, but Eh, the Tornado can get shit done, but in general Germany is a very Piston oriented tech tree, so it's rare somebody wants both Pistons and Missile Jets, and would find the Tornado useful.
USSR is a very solid tree from the Biplanes to the Top, Transonic Gunfighters are just not really my dish, I do like them from time to time, but grinding with them is just too much, hence Su-25K. Always down for CAS.
Britain is an absolute fuckfest, Tier II to Tier V is just perfect, I love it, Tier VI is a catastrophe, Talisman the Buccaneer S.2, or the Harrier Gr.3, even the Sea Harrier FRS.1, or if you want to hold out for a hero, Phantom FG.1 and FGR.2 are absolutely great, if you need it Talisman it, just DO NOT BUY THE F-4J(UK)
For Japan, you want a premium out of reserve, I recommend the A7He1, the Bf-109E-7, or the F4U-1A, once you get the Ki-43 you're set for life.
China is Solid, unlike their buildings, You're mostly set.
Italy is suprisingly solid. It's good since Reserve, and where I'd recommend you get something, the Hungarian Subtree fixes up those holes well enough, that I say you're rather just set. The Starfighter isn't particularly good, I do recommend the AMX A-1A, (Because it is fun at least) You'll be there when it goes on sale.
France is.....there is no way out of it, just buy the fucking Mirage, or find yourself a good low tier premium.....or Talisman the Hellcat, or better yet the P-63C-5. You are pretty much carried by US planes and Spitfire until the Jet age, where the fun begins.
Sweden. Fine enough, except if you're a Draken fan, then I suggest just not even bothering and buying the Finnish Draken.
The sad reality is that most war thunder players these days that are buying these packs are doing so because they downloaded the game solely to play modern vehicles. Most new players literally do not care about props or early jets.
As for people wanting to play those, buying one of these vehicles isn’t what I would recommend. You can save way more money by buying a premium prop or early jet or talismanning something, or hell, even do it free to play, as low tier stuff is dirt cheap. You’re not the target audience of this video

I think SEEK failed to notice the radar nerf on the ML. You cant use MTI anymore unless you are looking into the ground. Its dogfight capability is gutted, a Phantom can now win against it. So IMO, don't buy, its way too nerfed
Yes its worth it, its still a good plane and the dogfight capabilities dont matter when you slam enemies in the cockpit with r24r and any attempt at turnfighting ends with either you or the enemy getting slammed by 3rd party missile

I think so, the radar nerf is easy to workout around by just pointing your nose at the ground real quick before locking when the target is below the horizon. If this is a massive issue for you, it still has R24Ts instead of Rs which are still very strong missiles, and the FM isn’t a huge deal in 90% of your games.
The main thing that I think would scare people away is the poor RWR, it doesn’t give you launch warnings, only lock warnings. This isn’t a new change though

The f4s is great for bombing bases. I bought the plane during the Christmas Hill and by March I was in the f15 and f16

I love the wart hog. In a downtier you slaughter mig-19s arietes and other jets that have no flares, and in an uptier you cal pull insane reversals. You also have a better turn circle than many other jets

Mig 23 is shit you cant select radar modes anymore and your sustaining turn was at 550-600 now its at like 400
It will automatically select the mode it thinks is best.
Mig23 is fine, MTI switches automatically and while sure they nerfed the ufo flightmodel they buffed energy retention today

@SeekerHead it autoswitches into MTI or LD(titleless) if you target is below the horizon relative to you so if they're above you mti is entirly unavailable or if in search mode your flying downwards

This isn't entirely true. Alot of games turn into a dogfight if it gets to just 1-2 players left per team. I probably have more gun kills than missile kills on my F-4EJ @MT11222
Sorry but, I stopped watching when you said F4EJ was bad🙂. Not everyones looking for fighters, especially new players. Same issue with Defyns video. I grinded japan with F4EJ and it was the best grinder I've ever used, You can grind whole TT in 10 days with it. Most of the premium planes are meant for easier progression through tech tree not for the sake of them being good platforms to fight with.
Also people recommending F-5C, no, I grinded US with it, and I didn't enjoy single second of grinding with it(I love the plane itself, not the grind process) because A-5c would make 2x more RP with 5x less effort and time. + you have to be fully focused at all times. Fighter planes are most stressful grinders. Go for Lazy stuff like F4s, tornados and bombers.

What’s the point of grinding top tier with a bomber tho. When you’ll get your f16 or f15 after solely bombing bases in a f4e, you’ll be incapable of performing an average of 1 kill every 10 game.
At least that’s a tendency I’ve seen quite a lot for years now. The learning curve is way harsher to people going this route imo.
The F5C might be the best plane to get into high tier fighting, having all the necessary things (good FM, flares, missiles), without the hassle of having to deal with a radar and its constraints, while being at a very decent BR.

I grinded USSR without any premium whatsoever, and after that If I hadn't listened to all these youtubers about F-5c being SOOOOO good ( it is good PLANE not grinder ), I would've wasted way less time with F-4s looking how fast grind with F-4EJ was.
Believe it or not, pressing space bar on the same stationary target game in and game out isn’t enjoyable to many people. Many players like a bit more dynamic gameplay when playing a multiplayer game. I realize that’s your thing, but to many, THAT is the type of grind that is boring and exhausting

@@o4karik41the mig23 is still a very capable platform. It’s radar still doesn’t trigger half of the NATO jets being J band, so the r24r is a great missile *if used correctly*. The FM of the ML will still trounce every phantom every day of the week. It still has a good amount of usable missiles, between the r24 and r60, albeit not the best.
I don’t play the 23, but I don’t have much issues with the MTI of the French F1C, so I’d be interested to hear about what’s wrong with the mig 23 in this aspect
