Leland, you have provided all of us an entry into a world that most NEVER et to experience. Having worked for Bill Graham back in the past, I've been lucky enough to have seen some of this first hand. But what you've given us this summer is something that is so much more. And this episode seeing Lyle as "Lyle the person" as opposed to Lyle the music star is even more special. In the time since your first episodes we have ALL been privileged to get to know a new friend and to have traveled with you on such a wide range of adventures. I can only look forward to even more of these adventures. THANK YOU for having shared this with all of us!

@@lastnamefirst4035 Mostly security and guest services, but a little work on the production side (mostly after we lost Bill). Learning at the feet of THE MASTER was something special. The promoters today ONLY care about bringing in the money, NOT about the product being provided to the public!

The aggregate quality of the band is a testament to the musicality and intellect of Lyle Lovett.

I definitely see in the future Lyle publishing a Coffee Table Photo Book of Indoor and Outdoor Music Venues! I'd surely want one. Especially, some of the National Architectural Treasures where Lyle and his Large Family Band played over the Summer Tour of 2022.

I first met Lyle in ‘87 when he was touring as a solo act with Bonnie Raitt. Been a fan ever since. I became an instant Leland fan from his intro on “Doctor My Eyes” on. I didn’t know that was him at the time, I just knew it was cool as hell.

It's really cool seeing older musicians. I'm 67 and it gives me hope for myself personally that there is a future for anyone that still wants to play regardless of age. Being in your 60s or 70s one can remain very healthy and still make music.
There is no mandatory retirement in music. Will play to the last day….
so true, just take a look at Ron Carter 85 just finished a Japan tour. And John Mclaughlin 80 and just finished a European tour.
He is only 23.
@@lelandsklar6363 The sound of a gentle thud on stage - an attentive sound person will mute the instrument as to not offend the ear. I'd be fine checking out that way.

Nice conversation! I met Lyle a bunch of years ago at the Pro Italia motorcycle shop in Glendale, CA. I w
as having some work done on my bike and Lyle had a custom bike built for him that was getting some tweaks finalized. I walked into the lounge/waiting room and Lyle was in there, waiting. He reached out his hand and said," Hi...I'm Lyle Lovett." I said, "Hi! For a motorcycle rider, you're a pretty good songwriter!" We ended up chatting, mostly about motorcycles, for a good long while. What a great guy!

Leland: I did not touch an instrument, sing a single note, help prepare the stage, drive a bus or truck but I enjoyed every single venue. You let us explore every venue with you and interact with your fellow musicians and crew to the point that I am going to have to deal with tour withdrawal. What a blessing these people have been this summer. My many thanks to all involved with Lyle's Large Band 2022 tour.

The inevitable thinking-to-one's-self, "Oh God, they saw me, I couldn't avoid them and get away in time. Now, they're going to want to tell me how horrible their life has been, over the past Decade, ever since their beloved Turtle🐢 named "Shelly" (a Jewish Turtle from the old Catskills Vaudeville Revival Circuit Days) of 50 years (turtles live a long time, you know) died a horrible Turtle Death, shriveling up in its Shelly Shell and then Stinkin' to High Heaven, (not unlike Louden Wainwright's "Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road, Stinkin' To High Heaven stink."

Every night for the past several weeks I've looked forward to two things: #1 laying down with my 2 year old daughter to put her to sleep and #2 turning on this channel to get caught up on the days events..and of course picking up one or two or ten previous episodes in my quest to watch them all!
