Arrau sounds great; the normally gorgeous Grumiaux tone sounds somehow congested here. I heard that they didn't like working together and so, never completed the project of recording all 9 Beethoven sonatas. I also heard that Grumiuax wanted to be more free but that Arrau hemmed him in.

Elegant playing, but too dispassionate for my tastes. I miss the sense of URGENCY, occasional outbursts of FURY, and transcendent moments of soaring JOY.

Trevor Armbuster This is my big problem with Beethoven. He has goto be played just right, not like Vivaldi where different approaches are enjoyable. This piece, for my ear, has to 'attacked' with the piano soaring in gallops. For me, this duo did not deliver, and the piece is quite boring.
