    Arthur Grumiaux plays the violin like he is breathing, very fluent , in tune , so fast , and full of expressions, He was really the best...

    Ce violoniste est né en Belgique à Fleurus ou il a connu ses premiers succès ! Très sensible , il a été formé par son père très dur avec lui ! C'est à Londres qu'il a fait toute sa carrière brillante !

    Thank God one of the greatest violinists AG, and Sir Colin Davis, both were ardent Mozart admirers, had left us with the finest playing of a whole bunch of finest music(by Mozart). It's truly incredible how he had made so many consummate recordings solely devoted to Mozart. Yes his Mozart is simply incomparable dare I say he created how Mozart sounds like in violin and set a gold standard for future generations with such refined taste, breathing like ease and simple, the great beauty that is not self conscious. His Mozart is as great as it can get.

      Not surprisingly! Tchaikovsky was one of the first internationally known Russian composer and he was in charge of "baroque" and "classical" period in Russian music - amid he lived in the time of romanticism - squeezed into a short amount of time. His violin concerto sometimes sounds like a ballet music written by Glück, so does Rococo variations.

    Grumiaux is one of the frequently forgotten giants of 20th Century Violin playing. His performances are always in excellent taste, technically perfect and infused with warmth and clarity. Younger violinists such as Anne Sophie Mutter and Joshua Bell could be well advised to listen to him; you do not have to play faster than everyone else( Mutter) or have spasms on stage(Bell) to get noticed and loved!

    • @robertocohen2829
      @robertocohen2829 Před 6 lety +3

      TheMmesser Fully agreed !
      Can't stand Hann paying with her body Karajan who introduced her all he could to be a faked star.
      There are two ultimate violinists Grumiaux more Romantic and Heifetz the Perfection, with all others as per an acceptable recording quality technically way below such as Hubermann.. and thus quite hard to compare.
      Enjoy!

    • @ewaldsteyn469
      @ewaldsteyn469 Před 6 lety +10

      Mutter trying to play faster than anyone else too try and get noticed? Really, that is just pain nonsense you are talking. I have a number Mutter concerto recordings (10+ concertos) and she is FAAAAR from the fastest on the block. In fact, just comparing her Mozart recordings with Grumiaux. Her recordings with Karajan and Muti, as well as the video recordings on CZcams with Camerata Salzburg. In all these concertos Mutter is in fact about 2 minutes per concerto SLOWER than Grumiaux, except for number 3 where she is 4+ minutes slower.

    • @ewaldsteyn469
      @ewaldsteyn469 Před 6 lety +9

      Grumiaux and Heifetz the two ultimate violists and the rest way below them - perhaps for your personal tastes that may apply, but for me that is just plain nonsense. I agree regarding Heifetz. But I prefer Francescatti and Kogan any day above Grumiaux, and even prefer Mutter's Mozart recordings above Grumiaux's. You are welcome to disagree with me on this. Just keep in mind, in the end it all comes down to personal taste. But don't proclaim your own personal taste as the ultimate fact regarding who the greatest violinists were.

      While I don't disagree with your sentiments on not playing this concert (and indeed s e v e r a l other Mozart pieces) too fast, truth is that Mutter's is indeed slower than this, one of the recordings available here on the tube is 2 minute 30 seconds (or 7,5%) slower than this. I enjoy both versions, but I am weird (?) and demand the andante movement to be played even slower, with more air between the phrases.
