Nice work aesthetically. By now you have probably discovered the following problems: 1) Silicone is secondary waterproofing - it's can't replace proper flashing above windows and doors. 2) Single or even double skin flue gets extremely hot, it can't be in contact with heat sensitive materials (and again, silicone can't replace proper flue wall flashing) 3) OSB (not plywood) is lovely but it does affect indoor air quality and it is not meant to be a finish materials: e.g. next to your stove would by now be extremely dirty, 4) Unless the house is quite draughty (not well sealed) you will have condensation issues in winter, particularly around the steel frames, causing mould growth 5) The roof/wall junction *might* just work, but it could allow water behind your wall cladding ... 6) Floor that close to the ground will lead to rising dampness/moisture problems (100-150mm clear space should be minimum). the list could go on - but ultimately - this is a lovely building, but selling plans to others might result in more than one lawsuit related to liability.

Glad I bought this one czcams.com/users/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH . I had a customer looking for a shed that didn't look 'prefab' and was rustic, but "cute" (her term). I showed her the cover of the book and, with a few modifications, she was sold. I've never built a shed but I do have some framing knowledge. The info on roofing is very helpful to me. I was also psyched that the section for the shed on the cover had measured drawings for the trim boards and keystone pieces for the gable ends and over the windows. Should make life a little easier for me.

The floor!!! No vapor barrier, no sealant, to treatment, no insulation... It's gonna be drafty, moldy, and infested within a few months and fall apart within three years!!! Please take it out and do it right before you get sick or injured. Also the roof needs more overhang to be long term waterproof, and aspenite (while inexpensive) tends to flake/fall apart quickly. It will look really bad after a short time and leave splinters everywhere.

I did notice that you didn't bother with any vapor barrier, insulation or sealant between the ground and the underside of your flooring. I'm afraid that will come back to haunt you in the long term. Bugs, mold and small critters love such inaccessible voids and will reek absolute havoc out of sight of the humans dwelling above. @@peepopalaber Drywall is easily chipped, dented and punctured - and easily repaired. OSB is garbage once broken. It also warps through dry/wet cycles which makes it a sketchy choice for things like cabinets that require a snug fit, if left unsealed for a long time. At least it looks like all the OSB except for flooring/sheathing could be replaced when needed.
To be fair though; OSB doesn't offgas either, at least not in any harmful way like MDF does. Ultimately, I assume the goal in this context is to use whatever is cheapest at the time and place. I'm not sold on the "found glass" either - some of those panels are huge and using anything less than brand-new professional grade glazing is a bad idea. Seeing as one panel that size could cost as much as the entire house, corrugated plastic is the way to go for simply letting light in. Even for the smaller windows if you found the glass or recovered it, it's likely going to be untempered and scratched to shit in a matter of months, at which point you'd see better through corrugated plastic anyway. You would need to recover glass from things like high-quality cabinets, display-cases and computer cases, not to mention get creative with your installation as you would almost certainly wouldn't be able to re-size glass like that without breaking it.

Well done to the builders! I love that there are still places in the world where ordinary people can build affordable housing for themselves. I am a retired cabinetmaker on the west coast of BC, Canada. The company I worked for once put $880,000 worth of millwork and cabinetry in one multi-million dollar "house". Think about that - you could build 176 of these homes for what those people spent just on their woodwork, and it wasn't even their main house, just a summer place on the ocean. How can the world be like this? I'm glad that I live in a rural area now, in a self-built modest home. I hope more people wake up and realize that living in a city has many effects, some of which are not good.

In all the videos, especially of couples who embark on this incredible adventure, of building houses practically from scratch, this project was the most audacious, sustainable and connected with nature that I had the immense pleasure of watching, without leaving the chair to anything. The interesting thing is that at all times there are ideas that improve the space making an experience increasingly connected to nature. I would like to know in which region this beautiful construction was made, because in certain parts of the video we hear, different languages, italian, english, english with a british accent, and a little brazilian portuguese, I believe that some coincidences of some portuguese words with the italian. I loved this build so much. Love the connection of your animals, the two dogs and the cat. Including the two of you, working all hours of the day. This is very beautiful to see. In other words, the structure could grow over time with an easy addition.

To be honest am skeptical about some aspects of this build. Biggest worry I have is rust on those metal parts. They seem to be zinc plated metal which is excellent in preventing rust, until the moment you drill it or cut it. Indeed in some shots rust is already visible. Hopefully it doesn't become a huge problem since repairing anything would mean disassembling half of the house. Another potential issue am thinking about is the use of self tapping screws. They are indeed faster to work with but I fear in time and in constant strain they will get loose and cause problems. I'd personally go with bolts and self-securing nuts. For some shelving I wouldn't use OSB either, because it requires drilling it through the side of material, one direction OSB is extremely weak. My assumption is that those shelves will need somewhat frequent replacing, depending on amount moisture. Am not liking shower outside either, that would only work in constantly warm climates, which majority of the world is not. I'd rather swap for outside toilet for inside shower.
Overall, I liked the build. It was well executed and seemed well thought out. Only test of time will show its flaws and then it can be improved upon. Good job!

BUT, I still find myself liking it as a starter dwelling for people trying to settle somewhere like a small farm. There was one major mistake you made on the roof. Where the edges of the roof meet the side walls you put on a trim piece. The top edge of that trim should go UNDER the top sheets of tin. If you think about it, it just makes since. When it rains and the water runs from the top of the roof down to where the trim is, you want that water to flow off the roof. You do not want it to hit the trim piece you have on there now and be forced inside the walls. This is why the top edge of the trim goes UNDER the sheets of roofing tin.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching you both build your home - you are both truly talented and even the dog showed he could sing at one point! Really clever design and I look forward to going through the rest of your videos.

Beautiful! I enjoyed watching it! One tip they make a tubular brick that will protect your insulation and walls from fire, run your tubing thru the brick!!! It’s called a Wall Thimble or Flue!

This was a great time filler to my night, but I really enjoyed the whole process and I think it turned out wonderful! It's not something I could do, but I would love to have something like this in the future! Great video!

Thanks so much for this you guys put in so much hard work and dedication to this project. I'm sure you have made some awesome memories together inside already. Hopefully I will be able to make this happen for myself one day because Ile never be able to afford a regular house and a mortgage. Best wishes and happy holidays from the States.

Hola! la verdad es que disfruto tanto de vuestros videos, la calidad y prolijidad con la que abordan sus proyectos, que desearía que no pase tanto tiempo entre video y video. Sólo es un deseo...

Hopefully this motivates the youth to do more for themselves.Things have become a throw away society. There IS satisfaction in "do it yourself" projects. Also, items tend to be better cared for when sweat was put into it.Well done. And for all the people throwing shade-lets see what you have accomplished!

Really a great place and only thing is I would want a shower inside but yet keep an outdoor one for when it's comfortable weather to bathe outside. I could never sleep up in the loft only because I am getting older and climbing isn't something I could do. Love the garden. I agree with the guy who mentioned about the windows. Traditional windows better I think. Anyway great place and God's Blessings to y'all.
