@@nanakwadwoyannah982 I see your point but the difference is basketball has unlimited substitutions and hella timeouts and ref timeouts, and halftime. Also, football doesn’t look like it played at a high intensity but trust me it very much is it just doesn’t look like it because the field is 3 times the size so obviously it’s gonna look slower. Another example would be to look at players like lebron for example if he’s tired he’s not playing d he’ll just Stand there. not saying he don’t play d just saying if he doesn’t feel like it he’s not doing it. Difference with football is there’s not timeouts there’s only halftime and they only have 3 subs. you can take a small break to catch your breath but you only get so much of those before your coach starts getting on your ass. If your team has already made their 3 subs you have to suck it up an keep playing. Both sports are very physically demanding but saying shit like oh yea “this shit light” or “I can do this it’s not worse than basketball” is just ignorant.

You gotta stop relating it back to basketball because they're too different. If you're a football fan there are a lot more 'intense' moments, than there would be for guys like you watching. Big tackles, nice passages of play (e.g. tiki taka plays), fights, take ons, goals, chances at goal, your keeper having to make saves, skills and even more if you enjoy the more tactical side of the sport etc.
It's much slower, more difficult, a much larger area & a lot more happening that what the untrained eye will see

To put Messi into context - taking into account the era of opponents he's faced & the distance between him and whoever people think the second best player of all time is - If MJ had the highest average points per game at 30.1, in NBA terms, I'd say Messi would be a 36.2 career points per game player

An see how hard it actually is, at just the amateur level. Then just imagine the pro level where everyone was the best player for their team when they were playing at the amateur level. Then I feel you will truly understand why we tell ya that it’s a lot more to the sport than what you see. Bc if you not the star of the team you will not be able to slouch on defense or attacking. The coach will require you to attack with your an an come back to defend. Star players get off a bit more because they’ve earned it. But they are still required to help out. I’ve had a couple of friends that thought it wasn’t as hard or draining but I took them just to tryout for my team an they never went with me again.

that dude on the right talking about stats acting smart, saying Messi is better because he has a better goal ratio than Ronaldo. You cant just look at the stats without the context, you need to see who they played and where they played. Messi played in the same league all of his career (expect recently that he moved to PSG) while Ronaldo played in 4 different leagues, he has to adapt to different languages, different playstyles etc. When Ronaldo was playing in the same league as Messi was, he averaged MORE goals than games, he scored 450 goals in 438 games, he had an average of 1.03 goals per game, meanwhile, Messi had a 0.99, which is still nuts. But obviously football isnt just about goals

You'd be surprised how good the endurance is of these footballers, there is a reason you don't see many big guys in football (soccer) because fitness is the most important physical aspect of the professional game. Just looked it up and Basketball players run an average of under 3 miles a game vs 7 miles for football (soccer) players. Yes basketball is more intense, but has more breaks and lasts less time. I'm very confident that soccer players would have significantly better endurance overall.

Football is intense, from the matchmaking to the final whistle. There's strategy, chemistry, teamwork, rivalry... To watch a derby at the stadium is to feel like a warrior on the battlefield. Those "intense" moments are always happening once you learn the game. Every time you don't have the ball, every time you are attacking or defending... Even when everything seems under control, a misplaced pass can lead to a counterattack, and the whole match changes. "Football is a game you play with your brain." - Johan Cruyff.

Trust me in football it's better to play against someone like ronaldo than messi... Ronaldo is an average footballer(In terms of skill) with insane experience and stamina but his moves can be studied and interprated with time. Some people play just like famous players..... and the worst players you want to meet on a pitch are the messi's and zlatans...The Messis leave you confused looking for a ball that's no longer there(Those fast little players) because they don't use existing skills as much they create them on the fly. and the zlatans just leave you hurt... Strength isn't always as valued in football as skill is for a striker.
