- Myself and Sam hit up Chicksands MTB Bike Park to test out his massively upgraded Transition Bottlerocket 26" beast. He's spent hundreds modernising this bike and we thought we'd film a bike walkthrough and riding session to showcase it.

I first thought this was the control bike, which will compare to the 2006 one. Goes to show, it's almost always about the rider, not the hardware. Cool stuff man!

Sweet ride! Love the mods he's done to it. Recently got a NS Soda Slope, looks pretty similar to the Bottlerocket.
He's spent some money on it thats for sure! And ah yeah those are classics as well, used to want one so bad back when they first came out

After the mid 2000s nearly any company had reasonable geo and quite good stiffness on their frames.
Some oldies still banging even a few 90s

@@samw_mtb I've been riding a coil one since 2013 and it's a set and forget tank...and weighs like a tank :) Still, needs to be serviced as every fork. Cheers!
What size frame is it?
I have a 26' fuji nevada 1.9 that i want to modernise a bit myself ,changes include replacing the 11 to 40 cassette 8 speed to 11 to 46 9 speed,its a 3x contemplating keeping it or changing to 2x,changing the coil sprung fork to air suspension with remote lockout,and running an external dropper post!
I'd go x10. I don't know about x9, but if you choose Shimano, there are front derailleur levers, you can switch from 2x to 3x by a small switch on their underside. That way you can change the large chainring for e.g. a 32t bashring any time you need the extra ground clearance.
How do you get that nice clicky sound out of it?
I recently picked up a 2006 full suspension Cannondale Rush for $100. I figured I’d update this bike some since my main rides are hardtails. I’ve already gotten some nasty comments from some people but I think it’s great fun and I do really enjoy riding a 26” again. You never know, I might make it my main mountain bike daily ride.

That was a dream bike for me. I would have put a Marzocchi Dropoff tho just because I love the open bath system

What’s the chain tensioner brand? I just converted an old full sus into a single speed and the tensioner doesn’t like to much torque.

Thanks George, there was such a huge growth in MTB channels since covid, which has made CZcams a lot more competitive. But can't complain, i'm trying to focus now more on creating content that i enjoy and am proud of, instead of always chasing view count... seems to be doing good things for my mental health too haha.
