    Damian, as an electrician, I’m kinda cringing. All respect for your efforts, but the hose clamps will not hold up. The output of that inverter won’t be enough for what you have planned. Also you are going to have issues in the long run with how long your batteries will run the inverter for. You have to get a larger battery capacity if you want to use the 110 volt appliances. You will only have 10 to 20 minutes of moderate demand use. Please do a test with items you already have. That way you will know for sure how long your batteries will hold you. As for the battery jumpers, get some battery terminal blocks. Like those used for big car stereo systems, or possibly off of a semi, maybe from a salvage yard to save $$. I have seen to many disasters due to bad connections, and don’t want anything to happen to you. I enjoy your content too much. For that same reason, get checked out by a medical professional. Abdominal pain is nothing to take lightly. Keep up the great work, and peace.

      @4207Points Před 4 lety +3

      Exactly I've used the ever start marine deep cycle batteries biggest ones Walmart had I think 122ah I used two of them wired in parallel to double my amp hrs but stay at 12v the higher amp hrs will give you longer run times I just picked this inverter up today haven't tested it out yet my old one was only 800watt also like they have said the hose clamps won't hold up I use starter cables that you can buy in the battery section of Walmart and the big batteries I have got a screw down terminal so all you have to do is screw in the starter cable no other Hassel and if ur worried about color coding for the positive and negative because I believe the cable only comes in black just get some red tape and wrap the cable at the ends so you know the difference.

    Inverter draws A LOT of amps from batteries, you need thick copper cables that are rated over 100amps (amps * 12v = wattage) and make sure connections are proper on inverter and battery side, no crocodile clips, solid clamps. The same with cables connecting batteries together.

    Inverters are most efficient at 50-65% capacity loads. If you are going to be using a 1000 watt stove I recommend getting atleast a 1750 watt pure sine wave inverter with a guaranteed sustainable 1750 watt draw for at least 12 hrs... it'll save you electricity because it can be more efficient. Also hooking up a ups may be a good choice aswell

  • @sebastiangliwa3279
    @sebastiangliwa3279 Před 5 lety +2

    You should use # 2 awg wires for that inverter. You can probably get like an amp wire kit

  • @kevinanglin678
    @kevinanglin678 Před 5 lety +2

    @Damian Monte those little wires are going to melt at full load. If you have a power draw of 1000watts on a 12 volt battery it pulls 96 amps of current from the battery for that much current you need 4 gauge wire minimum from the battery terminals to the inverter. Also a fully charge 12 volt battery should be at 12.5-12.7 volts after setting for a day if it is below that then the battery is not charged or if it is charged then the battery has a power drain in side of the battery cell going bad. Also you could run a 2 gauge wire from those batteries and wire them to the truck battery so they will be charging when you drive and that will also help start the van to because it will have 4 batteries on it. If you decide to do that run a 2 gauge positive wire from those batteries to the positive on the van battery and run a 2 gauge wire from the inverter batteries to the frame of the van

    inverters have a slight loss of power when it converts DC to AC so a 1000watt converter probably can only do about 800 watts continuously but yea 800 is more than enough to be useful your good man. the only reason people put 2000 to 3000 watt inverters is cause they have mini fridges or portable air conditioning units in the van.

    put the charge controller positive on one battery and the neg on the opposite battery on the other side so the power flows through all three batteries, also do the same with the inverter diagonally across the batterys. that 8 guage jumper cable aint even gonna flow 60-70 watts before it gets hot and starts to cause voltage drop

    You should really look into using 2 6 volt batteries instead of 12v. You wire the 2x 6v in series instead of a bunch of 12 in parallel. It is a very popular method in the rv world. Alot more power to be had. Also you need 12.3v to crank a car so starting at 12.2 is really low voltage

    For your van what's the make and model of It? Also for it's noice factor, let's diagnose what it could be, so let's eliminate when and what it can't be? So does it make that sound only when the keys are in the ignition? Or without? Also where does it sound like it's coming from? It could be from a fuse that's going out but isn't completely shot, so it could be that since the fuse is just lightly arched and mildly separated so when you open the door and the dome light turns on the fuse could be making a half assed contact and just shooting thousands of little burst of electricity which is creating that buzzing sound but I dont know for sure, any insight feel free to share to with me just @ me or whatever and we'll have it figured out in no time at all.

    If you're going to be pulling some full power through that setup get rid of the jumper wires and get some real heavy gauge copper wire. Jumpers aren't full copper and get hot faster
