    I've been recently using this in my van with some decent mics for recording the jam sessions when my buddies and I are hanging in there. It's heaps more fun now we're all sitting around a centrally hung condenser mic in the van. Strongly suggest trying something like this with your buddies on your next 'late night' or weekend hangs..👌

    Hi tascam team,
    Do all inputs record in 32bit? Even the 3.5mm port?
    I want to plug this device into a dj sound board to collect audio from it. Via XLR.
    And I want to also plug in my camera wireless mic so I can get the feed to my camera
    When I press record. Will I get both inputs recorded IN 32bit float?
    Thank you!

      Hello! Yes, all inputs on the Portacapture X6 will record in 32-bit float.

    Too bad you don't explain why one should use high or low gain. Also, can you save the settings you have made and if needed go to the saved setup?

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  Před 4 měsíci

      Hello! Yes, the settings can be saved and recalled later - this is covered is one of the many Portacapture X6 videos.

    sounds cool
    But I will stick with my DP24SD for recording and use my SONY for videos it has x/y condenser mics for sound quality and make sensational videos

      Thanks for your advice, but I'm looking for something I can carry in my hand, not a roadcase.

    So I purchased my Tascam DR-40X but it comes with no cable to connect to my mixer. Does anybody know what cable do I need to connect it to my djm900nxs?

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  Před rokem

      Hello! The DJM 900 NXS has a whole host of output options on it. So, the input options on the Portacapure X6 need to be either XLR or 1/4" going into the unit. The connections coming out of your mixer need to be either XLR (for the main outs), RCA (for the record out), or 1/4" for the booth outputs.

    Hey! Do you know if it's possible to record different channels to one file with multiple tracks. Whenever I record i get every track as an individual file, which makes sorting everything a pain.

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  Před 13 dny

      Hello! Which app are you recording with? The Manual and Podcast apps should always create a file with the word MIX just before the .WAV extension (i.e. TASCAM_0001_MIX.wav).

    • @nilsdresemann
      @nilsdresemann Před 13 dny +1

      Hey! Thanks for getting back at me. I am using the The Manual one. But i am not asking dor a mix. I am asking if there is a possibikity to create one file with all the tracks on it. The stereo mic one boom and a lavalier mic.m for example. So when you drag it into an Nle imyou have an audo track expanding over several selerate tracks. Not premixed like in in the mix files

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  Před 12 dny

      @@nilsdresemann ah, understood! What you're referring to is called a poly wave file. The Portacapture Series doesn't create one of those, only the individual files and the stereo mix.

    Is this a better solution for recording dj mixes than the Tascam DR-40x? Thanks in advance.

    Sorry Tascam, saying that 32-bit float recording prevents clipping is fraud. Please prove that.

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  Před rokem +2

      Hello! The proof itself lies in 32-bit float recording. With the utilization of dual ADC converters, any audio can be taken into a DAW capable of working in 32-bit float and the gain structure can then be readjusted to bring up the levels of low audio to keep them well above the noise floor and, likewise, bring down the waveform on loud audio to see that there's no digital clipping - the audio files are preserved in all their dynamic glory for a clip free recording.
      As we mention in our videos, this only applies to the recording. It is still completely possible to overload your microphone's SPL limitations - but with 32-bit float point recording, the captured audio is virtually impossible to clip. You can read more below at the link provided:
      tascam.com/us/feature/32-bit_float

    • @MaxoticsTV
      @MaxoticsTV Před rokem +1

      @@TASCAMUSA Thanks for responding. I am shocked. Have you run your theory by an audio engineer? Dual ADC converters (a fancy name for AGC in my eyes) is as applicable to 24-bit as it is to 32-bit float. You'd know that if you were an engineer. You cannot redo an ADC's "gain structure" once it's been written to digital data. But okay, I'll play along. What is the data precision of these dual ADCs? They must be 24-bit. I had no idea my Portacapture X6 had a 24-bit ADC! I don't know what mic I could use to test that, can you tell me? I'm posting a video today comparing my 24-bit files form my TASCAM with its 32-bit float files. You'll definitely have to explain to me why I can't see a difference. What did I do wrong?
      Further, the device can only make a backup copy in 32-bit float when it's set to 24-bit. It won't make a 24-bit backup from a 32-bit float master. I WONDER WHY!
      Again, thanks for replying.
