- To whoever asked me to make this video a few weeks ago and I said I had tried and couldn't find enough clips... here are the clips!\
The moral of the story is to never listen to your coaches.
Follow me on Twitter @andrew_vargha. - Sport
When you "run the stop sign" that is the fastest running you will ever do, because if you don't score, you're going to hear about it for the rest of the season.
no
@@marooner uh Yes

To be fair. If anyone would ever criticize the base coaches, you must realize that they have to assume that the fielder is going to make a good throw. Otherwise it is still up to the player. Basically, only the players can roll the dice, because the coaches would be out of a job if they decided to make risky decisions too frequently.
Mikey O'Connell you must not have seen Ed Sedar
Like Puig is ever stopping.
Wild Horse does what he wants
bg2e wild horses knows he's skills he is crazy
222nd like
Choo-Choo
He's like Forrest Gump...in more ways than one.
No one listens to Brian Butterfield
The man's name is Butterfield.
Elias Van Drisse lmao
SiemianToastCrunch N First a bad news bears coach, now a third base coach.
So what. I play on a baseball team called the wildflowers and we a bunch of dawgs
So great to see A Rod thrown out with a halfhearted attempt at a slide.
Love seeing ARod as one of the only ones to get out
That made me happy too
There are hips of outs at the end you dumb piece of.shit
JeffSayYes what do you have against him???
You know why the braves aren't on here? It's cause we have Windmill Ron Washington!
@5:18 “my coach is telling me noooo... but my melky... my melkys tellin me yeaaaaa!!!!” LOL
Lol! Great comment, but I have to ask, what is a melky?
@@bskee001 His teammate Melky Cabrera
bls001 how was it a GrEAt CoMmENt if you don’t even get it?
Alex the Goat Because it was funny?
Envy San Diego but it’s funny because it’s a parody of “My minds telling me noooo, but my body, my bodies telling me yeaaaa....” (don’t know the name of the song) So if he
doesn’t get it.... how is it funny for him?
Edit: song is called bump and grind by r kelly
Aoki was just like "Stop sign? Who cares, we're losing by 9 runs so imma just run home for fun"
First dudes in the nlcs and doesn't even bother to take his jacket off lmao
All pitchers do that though.
@@Kreamations Especially in october.
Pitcher usually leaves their jacket on. Tbh, I can't believe a pitcher would test their speed like that, especially against the 3rd base coach's orders.
He’s the pitcher dude... They all do that.
I love when the runner ignores the coach’s stop sign, and the coach realizes the runner is actually about to make it, so the coach starts waving the runner like he was agreeing with the runner the whole time 😂
Lol A-rod with the softest collision ever.
Matt Vasgersian Getting Excited PART 3 PLEASE!!!!
Sometimes it’s good as it’ll put more pressure on the defense but if you do you better be safe
Inspired by the nationals 3rd base coach sending Werth in 2016 nlds when Seager had the ball already, you should do horrendous sends by 3rd base coaches
you'll notice there are no instances of the nationals running through stop signs here, it's because Henley has never put up a stop sign in his life
A-Rod looking like a fool...again. Jeff Mathis just brushed him aside.
I’m just now getting into baseball and these are some of my favorite highlights/plays to see.
Wow, Morgan was clearly out at 0:52. I’m so glad mlb now has the replay review system. Game is so much better and true with it
nah slow the replay of it from the other angle. his foot hit the plate first
@@doowahthunderclap4315 If you're talking about another angle that wasn't shown in this video, okay, but if you're talking about the second angle shown here, he's absolutely out.
Looking at it frame by frame, on the first angle, his foot doesn't appear to touch the plate until his upper body and his right hand have twisted back around to the ground, so his chest and right hand are both on the ground.
From the second angle, you can see the tag being applied to his backside while the right hand is still in the air and before his upper body is even starting to twist back towards the ground.
From those 2 angles, I'd say I'm at least 95% sure he should have been called out.
DooWah Thunderclap Nope. The second angle shows that Ellis tagged him when his right hand was straight up. The first angle shows his foot tagging the plate after his right hand has already come down. Tag was there first.
Chris M You’re absolutely right, it’s no wonder he didn’t respond to you.
Only when you slow it down. In real time he looked safe.
Nyger Morgan not doing what his coach wants... Who would have thunk it?
Azagthoth12 thought that*
E-Dawg7 the way he said it is a way that you can say it
@E-Dawg7 you can say it like that
How can you only have 1 Albert Pujols clip in here? That man ran through almost every Jose oquendo stop sign I swear😂
Running through the stop sighn is one of my favorite things to see in baseball . Manager turning his hat around backwards yelling and kicking dirt on the ump is my absolute favorite though. We mostly lost that with replay unfortunately.
It's like coach said in football. "If you are going to change my play...it better work."
Also, same in baseball. "If ur gonna ignore my base coaches signals...u better be safe."
Do Grand Slams that don't give the team the lead.
Shankert what, no
I can think of one: Craig Monroe hit a grand slam in the bottom of the tenth against the Red Sox in 2005, but the Tigers lost, 10-7
Alex Weaver ok but how is that notable
I think the point is that these grand slams aren't notable, which changes the idea of a Grand Slam because they're supposed to be like big things.
true.
2:06 I think this play is so memorable as a Dodger’s fan partly because Vin Scully said the ball went through Taylor’s legs even though it went underneath his glove.
Nori Aoki's is my favourite. The Padres didn't even try to get him at the plate.
that is one of the quickest ways to get benched
3:55 terrible stop sign by 3rd base coach. Safe by a mile
L8erdayz he was telling the man on 2nd to stay put
When you are down 10 to 1 you don’t take any risks. Not even the tiniest of risks
Go Cards I would think that being down 10-1 is the perfect time to take a risk....
I want to see you go out there and coach idiot
2:20 how did Puig do a head first slide a come up with a clean uniform
He’s magic
TheMoneyMan he didnt there is a smudge right on the letters
The first one, as the 3rd base coach realizes he's gonna be safe at home he raises his arms like WELP. HE GOT IT.
All I saw was Phillies dodgers and brewers
My coach used to say, if you run through the stop sign, you BETTER be safe.
@Andrew Vargha can you do triples right after a homers?
3:37 that is the messiest home plate I have ever seen lol
I was watching the Dodgers-nationals game when Puig hit the little league homer. The outfielder that muffed the ball also struck out 5 times that game.
Ouch.
the soothing sounds of Don Orsillo doing Sox games..........ahhh
One pitch holds/saves?
Charlie Walter not a thing
@@harryrs7293 Um...yes they are. A pitcher enters with 1 out in the 9th, his team leading by one. He he gets an out on one pitch and is pulled for a better matchup. Pitcher 1 gets a Hold. Pitcher 2 gets the next out on one pitch and ends the game. Pitcher 2 gets a save. Both one one pitch.
I love how everyone was safe until A-Roid
Apparently they don’t care what Brian butterfield puts up there running anyway
Pretty much always run through it, unless you're A-Rod apparently.
You need to watch the last half, most of which got thrown out.
Last year I was at a minor league game and the runner went through a stop sign. I was standing where i could see the plate clearly, and he got to the plate and not only beat the ball but had his hand on the plate, but he still got called out and we ended up losing
I was third base coach for my softball team because I sprained my ankle, but my friend hit one over the left fielder with the bases loaded and he was BOOKIN it too third and I tried to stop him because their short stop had an arm but he ran straight through it and scored.
The most exciting play in baseball
I love it when the baserunners blow through the stop sign, whether it's the home or away team. I guess I just consider the stop sign an advisory, not a command. If you never take chances, there's no excitement to the game.
Altuve’s first career homerun?
Imagine 2 outs 2 runs score off a hit u got in for it running the stop sign and get out while ur down 1
You just earned a sub :)
What many don't seem to be realizing is that 3rd base coach many times is screaming "GO HUSSLE GO ALL IN" but hes tossing up the "stop sign arms" this is to throw off the fielder since the fielder looks down at the play and it could make them hesitate on the play as they see a coach "holding up" a player ...when your set on throwing to the cuttoff and then see a player just running home and swap it up to throw home instead it can mess up the throw. Baseball is a pretty big mental sport and every trick even fake signs are used to try to get even a 1 second advantage ;)
0:27 filmed on a samsung
Clip #2 sponsored by android
I think if it's going to be close it's better to always send the runner. Hard for even the best outfielders to make consistent good throws, right to the plate.
Do “Light That Baby Up” by Victor Rojas
2:20 just measured on google earth and puig dove from like 16 feet away from the plate
I don’t think the players like Brian Butterfield
Title should be when you show the stop sign but he’s safe
just for you people thinking art imitates life, the above does not mean you drive through a stop sign. a stop sign literally means come to a STOP!!!
I do this all the time in the show
2:04 is the best of the bunch
lmao the first guy is actually wearing a sweatshirt over his jersey
For plenty of these, safe or not, it was probably the correct call to hold them up (a 3bc can't just assume a garbage throw is coming), but I was surprised on a few of them because they weren't even close, even after good throws.
Theres nothing wrong with being aggressive, especially when you're trying to get back into a game
@@Wes-pq4plI think you are interpreting me backwards from what I meant. What I mean is, there are plenty of these where the third base coach tried to hold them up, they ran threw it, and were safe by a mile, even after a good throw (as in, they shouldn't have been trying to hold them up in the first place).
Bro right off the bat , ( pun intended) the first vid. The runner was literally already at 3rd when the 3rd base coach put his hands up. Too late .... he can’t just automatically stop .
I would die if I ran through a stop sign and got tagged
Maybe this is a 3rd base coach's deek to the fielder to make them think the runner is not going home
Why do these players get applauded for running the stop sign, all I get are cries over funeral costs and increased insurance rates
There’s always the possibility of faking the stop sign to get into the fielders head thinking he isn’t going to run home, I think that’s a legit strat
throwback to when pujols had good speed.
Pujols was always given the stop sign. it's something that he and Oquendo would do to throw the fielders off a bit.
Yea I noticed puig do that
so many phillies
Where's Altuve's inside the park home run?
Realmuto, dee Gordon, and ozuna In one marlins clip😂
When the green light turns yellow:
*read title*
Run through stop sign baseball
i wonder if these guys are reprimanded for running through the stop sign even if it results in a run
All they say right through the stop sign
1:00 you can see the coach smile when he runs past the stop
What was the outfielder doing at 1:10
Washington made 3 errors on Puig's inside park HR
Brian Butterfield, the third base coach, motions players to stop.
Some of these holdups are about decorum. If you’re up by seven why chance it or run up the score. At the same time, players are, in theory, paid for there performance. Another run could mean a bigger payday.
I did this once in little-league, scored a run, only got scolded for it.
Shit umping in some of these
0:33 i like that 0.0 quality
*I am speed*
Why is the first guy wearing a jacket
5:18 He was safe!!
Wow I feel bad for Brian butterfield
0:10 this mans just threw 68
In Baseball, when a player does this (runs through a stop sign) does the person who hit on that play get an RBI stat? Hoping a baseball fan who knows the sport can enlighten me.
Hitter still gets the RBI. Just cuz the coach tried to hold the runner up doesnt change anything
@@Tazer183 Cool thanks a ton. On Balks and Stolen home bases though, no one gets an RBI right?
@@Esonar yea u're right. No RBI for simply being at the plate if someone steala home/is balked home
1:12 that slide
2:05 Puig hit a 10 footer and rounded the bases
1:50 did he actually just go behind his 3rd base coach?
Nyjer morgan was out as hell
Arod didn't even try to slide lol.... one of the dirtiest players in recent history
That's not dirty. It was before the Posey Rule. He was trying to jar the ball loose which was a common strategy.
Not dirty at all...
TheViolinist64 Watch any play at the plate before the Posey rule. I don't love A-Rod, but that's just good hard baseball.
Why would he slide? He's trying to knock the ball out
he tried to slap it out while holding his purse
Poor Brian Butterfield..
Rest in rip Bryan Butterfield lol
Okay but look at where the 3rd base coach is at 0:20 and tell me how Oswalt's supposed to see him before he rounds that corner hard and is already halfway down the line lol.
I never knew you were allowed to wear a jacket in first clip
Not sure it's a rule, but I've only ever seen pitchers do it. I've heard it's to keep their arm warm, but I wonder if it's just to protect their arms from getting scratches from the dirt while sliding.
Man that Dodgers announcer is an absolute snoozefest
2:20 howie on the Dodgers. He would go on to fuck them up
If you do this in any other level of baseball no matter the outcome, practice was going to be hell
