    Cool channel! Just bing-watched like 5 videos in a row and I really like your style lol, you earned a new subscriber!
    Just one thing you should know regarding the energy usage test. If you want to conduct a real test you should fill the fridge, as cooling a fridge filled with air uses much less energy than cooling a fridge filled with food/water/cans or other stuff, as the heat capacity of those would be many times higher. Just cooling the empty fridge and later putting stuff inside wouldn't really do the trick here, as the fridge has to take the heat from the food and move it outside for it to cool things down. If I were camping with one of these, I'd try to fill the fridge and cool it all I could at home before disconnecting it from the mains and using battery power (for example, in your car), as keeping the insides with a constant temperature would be much less taxing on the battery than having to cool everything down first.

      Thanks and welcome to the channel! For sure good info on energy usage testing👍🏻Generally I’ve been pre cooling the fridge at home and then putting already cold items into the fridge before I leave on a trip.

    That thing looks huge in the back seat. I wish we could work with a company to make one that is long so that it could fit in our gear tunnel on a sled.

      It definitely takes up quite a bit of space but I did opt for a larger one. I’m with you on that idea though - would love to see a good solution for the gear tunnel

    Wonder how this compares to the Ryobi portable fridge

    Will be interesting to see what you think of it over time. If it is worth having that big of a cooler but losing the space in the rear seat vs having a smaller cooler that can fit under the tonneau etc

      I’ll definitely keep everyone posted on how I like this setup after using it on a few trips👍🏻

    is there a way to keep it powered on 24/7 in the Rivian?

      You can definitely turn the outlets on in the truck for up to 3 days

    I suspect the temperature is moving by 1℃ with each change which is why you're seeing 1-2℉ moves

      You’re probably right - I’ll have to try this out and see if that’s what’s happening

    Useful video. I’m considering a fridge for a three-day overlanding trip on my R1S. Would you consider taking a battery pack instead of using your R1T’s battery?

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  Před 8 měsíci

      Depends on how long the trip is and how many miles you’ll be covering. If you’re going to be pushing the range even without the fridge I’d consider a battery station like the Jackery but otherwise should be fine using the Rivians power. From what I’ve seen so far the battery drains looks to be pretty minimal👍🏻 I’d also recommend pre cooling the fridge on your wall outlet at home before you leave.

    How many kwh does the fridge use powered by the rivian battery over 12hrs?

    Nice, it doesn't use much at all.

    Does it fit under the tonneau cover?

    • @AWheeler45
      @AWheeler45 Před 8 měsíci

      It appears that only the 35L model will fit under the tonneau

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah as mentioned by the comment above you’d have to go for a smaller fridge to fit. I’m hoping at some point they will release a longer/not as tall model that’ll fit under the tonneau cover.
