- So Bedman? is now live for Guilty Gear Strive and after playing around with the character for a while I figure I would give some first impressions and hot takes! Overall Bedman is very unique and interesting and really offers something else you can't find with the other characters!

So Bedman is now live and I figured after playing around and labbing for a bit I would give some of my thoughts on the character! Overall I think they are very unique and quite fun! Tier wise? Hey who knows, much too early for that but the character definitely passes the cool test and thats the most important thing out of the gate!
Bedman does have a double jump btw ! at first i thought he didnt either but he does :D only if neutral jumping tho not while moving
Bedman is pretty cool. the only problem I have with them, is that when I'm trying to pay attention and look for my opponents startup frames of certain attacks the kid ends up running in front of them and blocking my view. its hard to whiff punish when the kid keeps on running in front of them
It has been said before, but man the whole concept of this character is so cool. First match I played, the bed itself crashed down behind Delilah and her words to Baiken were simply "help me!". This rampaging metal monstrosity - containing muddled fragments of OG Bedman's soul - is trying to protect the one he loves but in his confusion actually putting her at risk. It's such a sick idea for a character.
"If there is a way to grab, Rooflemonger will maximize it" is a great mission statement. Aside from the consistently great news coverage, my biggest takeaway from watching this channel is that anyone with a throw can be a grappler if you try hard enough!

The bedspring dust is actually a crazy good detail for them to have put in the game. I love it.
And yes there will be a combo guide and tips guide and all that! Combo guide tomorrow and tips guide by sunday, ideally. Things always have a habit of popping up and delaying stuff for me so expect the unexpected lol. Also there is something swirling in the air... Mortal Kombat 12 may just be properly announced sometime this month!

i can imagine Bedman? - Faust fights to be extremly chaotic with all the random items and follow-ups littering the field XD
I am absolutely addicted to his airdash. Completely non-commital, super fast, multi-angleable, doesn't have the yellow circle of most other characters. And godlike aerials to compliment it.
In Xrd it was a bit awkward to use because you had to press directly upwards to initiate the hover, then again in the direction you wanted (if you jumped forwards then wanted to "doublejump" forwards, you'd need to press 9, then 8, then 9 again.. If you pressed 9 9 9 it wouldn't work)... But in Strive you can just tap the dash button while holding any direction (hold 9, dash button, don't have to stop holding 9.. etc.)
I hate it lol.
Xrd's version did make up for it's awkward inputs by having a guard point
This is the first character in this game that actually made me want to main them. I've been in character crisis since day one
I'm a big fan of the lil guy spinning the wheel on the background of the new stage

Really happy to see you're still covering Strive, I love all of your content but I don't play most of the games you cover, so I'm glad you keep going strong on my main game.
I will do my best to attempt to cover everything, although when say SF6 launches, thats gonna be the main event for a good whiles to come.
God, I didn't even think about how insanely good the exploding arm slap would be as a meaty oki option- that's going to be an incredible staple with its *GUARD CRUSHING* follow up. I think I'm going to like this big boy.
Go figure a literal bed wakes me up to Strive after all these years, lol. I'm tempted to try the game just for this character
Just a comment on the Giovanna loops she gets on big characters towards the end, because of the changes to scaling on a few of her jump normals her BNBs will actually just do more damage in a the majority of situations lol
fair enough, but the main thing about that combo is it goes corner to corner and is a guaranteed wall break no matter what against the big characters wherever you are on screen

I've just started playing this game over the last couple of weeks, I'm generally partial to heavies in fighters but none of the heavies in this game really had a playstyle I loved, but I'm already really excited to start learning Bedman?
One thing I appreciate your videos is you showing steps in your showcases/impressions. Oh here's the move. Here's the basic result. Here's "oh...well isn't that neat?." Here's "Let's see what we can do with that."
I feel there's a lot more value in showing people the math along the way rather than just the end result

I fiddled around with Bedman at Midnight. I think it's very fun to play, and the new error mechanic seems very interesting. The corner carry it can do with meter is amazing, though I think it's gonna take practice with its blockstrings, because 236P and S are both unsafe, and while 236HS is plus, it does have a gap that can be punched, so it'll be important to have an error ready at all times.
It'll be interesting to see how well people will play it. 🛏
Should make a horror style remake of bed knobs and broomsticks starring bedman!

One thing I found out while messing around is that if you knock the opponent down with 2D and instantly cancel into fully charged 236H, it's almost a perfect meaty
I was playing with him this morning and what I figured out and like to do is you can input the enhancement super just before your follow-up comes out automatically and it will be enhanced, so its hard to react to and does a lot of damage

Very cool looking character, not looking to play but hopefully will be fun to fight against
I'll be interested to see where he ends up once players spend more time with him, a bunch of Bedmen? have tried to keep my Bridget out with the projectile but it's not all that hard to play around, and (the way they were using it) doesn't seem to support being able to get in and do big damage.
One interesting thing you can do with Bedman?'s projectile is to shoot it, wait for the natural Error6E follow-up then immediately do his projectile again and then manually trigger the Error6E follow-up as soon as possible. This way you get a fireball pattern that looks like:
Fireball, Delay, Fireball (E6E), Fireball, Fireball (E6E). So 3 projectiles back to back As opposed to the "standard" pattern of:
Fireball, Delay, Fireball (E6E), Fireball, Delay, Fireball (E6E) where there's a gap between every fireball and it's follow-up.
And you can of course mix and match these patterns with so many other different variations as well to throw off your opponent with your timing.
I prefer to say "Bedman?" like you say your introductory "Hello and Welcome?"

I find it funny that my main is faust and my second best character rn is bedman? which they both play similarly so I just feel very well at home other than the slight weight difference
I was so confused about the Error timing moves because I thought they were an install. I thought if you did the Instant it would give the immediate Error timing to your next Special Move. I was wondering why it wasn't working.
I love being trapped at one side of the battle due to this guy just spamming projectile then lightning
I thought the overhead gave a pretty good combo during the demo they made. I'll have to check back on that.
all i know is i finally found a second character that i really wanna pick up since the release of the game. went in raw no training/combo mode and instantly loved how he played online... now i guess its time to hit the lab and figure out stuff.
more grab damage after grab than most characters, zato still got him beat on that one lol, hes really fun! wish delilah did more than just stand round tho lol

maybe one day when they fix the servers I can actually play a match with Bedman. I picked the worst time to try and come back to Strive. having to constantly restart the entire game is just too much of a pain in the ass. can't believe they didn't resolve it this patch tbh

Absolutely love the moveset and character design. One thing however is the projectile spam and zoning I've been seeing alot of that I cant quite figure out how to deal with -- probably because I'm pretty terrible at GG. It's a bit dissapointing to see such an oppressive and chaotic character taking it safe and forcing both players into the corner. Any ideas on how to deal with this?
The initial projectile is slower recovery and more of a commitment. So that would be the best time to attack or jump/iad after. Error moves are fast to recover. So just keep in mind when they use up their stored error, the next special move is a commitment.

I thought that bedman would fight and Delilah would take damage so it's like 2 characters but you control only one
It could just be me but I feel like they(?) don't get a whole lot of damage without meter. Like losing roundstart might be a death sentence for ya for the lack of meter AND meterless reversal IMO. I'd love to be wrong about this though

I don't know if it's just a bad match up but at least with ky it's been difficult. Bedman?'s projectile is faster than ky's and at least so far getting out of the corner has been nearly impossible

I can tell some of those multihit moves might be a nightmare for potemkin
The only one that seems it could be consistently difficult is J.HS. Potemkin's main problem with multihits are for moves that can be easily tossed out (Sol [5K], Bridget [S, cr.S, J.S], Axl's Rensen, etc). Besides J.HS, Bedman?'s multihits look too committal without meter. If he does have meter, then beyblade can be an issue as a neutral skip, but then you also have to generally worry about the same thing all other characters have against armor - any button -> RRC.
beyblade can be grabbed on block. so really you only have to worry about jHS and 2hs

Delilah is purely a cosmetic character. She does nothing to Bedman besides being there.
If character is big character is bad, dbz broly from fighterz being the exception lol
He wasn't right away either, it took Broly a couple years to become a threat in DBFZ. When he launched he was debatably the worst character in the game.

@@javianbrown8627 yes. There was a dev interview that explained the question mark in his name is because it's not clear how much is Bedman and how much is the bed.
