Bismuth picrate might be possible using this. Picric acid reacts with a bunch of metals to for sensitive primary explosives, I'm not sure if bismuth is one of them but it would be cool to find out.
from my limited experience when nitrating the temps need to be carefully controlled next trime try an ice bath when nitrating try making gun cotton first then move up to more sensitive controlled nitrations gun cotton is prettty easy if you want some tips hit me up (on gun cotton) my exp is limited

Yeah, good thing that did not detonate. Making explosions in public parks is a crime most places. For small explosions, look into Ammonium Iodide.
