    My friend died in this terrible tragedy, lovely man. The effect was shattering to all who knew him. As it would be to all the other friends and family who lost their loved ones. It made me cry to see as a saw on the TV of the events at the time.

      Well if they were the ones who died then it would be automatically obvious that it wasn't them who the media were talking about.
      And if it was other people who they were talking about, why would they care??

      @@letsdiscussitoversometea8479And if you had a working grasp of the English language, and a scintilla of common sense, you would know that Louise7 was referring to the families of those killed by South Yorkshire Police. And we care because our club is a family, they were our football family and we cared, and we cared because we knew the memories of the 97 were being dragged through the mud to cover up the criminal incompetence of Chief Superintendent David Duckenfield, South Yorkshire Police, and the Football Association all of whom were eventually found legally responsible for the deaths.

      @@ythomitnellum But it *_wasn't_* the police who killed those fans though - was it???
      Come on! Take some responsibility for your own (or your "family's") actions for ONCE!
      Liverpool supporters eager and self concerned (and I ABSOLUTELY believe subjected to a ritualistic amount of alcohol pre-match (and that's in their defence)) to get into the game, pushed those at the front into a crush situation, yes or no?
      Is the fear of persecution what this denial is based on?
      If so, then why persecute the police??
      Never once in 35 years, have I ever seen even a SINGLE Liverpool fan, say "Yes - I felt the need to get into the stadium - I partly contributed towards pushing the people in front of me into the people in front of _them."_
      Now - unless there was a barricade of plainclothes police officers at the back instigating a crush, then it couldn't possibly have been them.
      What about the previous occasions (1981 and 1988 (and possibly once sometime in the 1950s if I recall correctly)) where there was severe crushing...were *_those_* the fault of the police as well??

    The sun newspaper really disrespected the fans, and those who died that day. And that's why to this day, you won't see that paper for sale in Liverpool. It got locally boycotted.

    • @letsdiscussitoversometea8479
      @letsdiscussitoversometea8479 Před měsícem

      Did it though??
      I mean - if it was the people who died, then by implication it wouldn't be them who were stealing and urinating on other fans (voluntarily), surely??
      And if it was complete strangers, then what could the objection to that be??

      I remember the tragedy of this fatal day. I Will never forget the shock & horror that occurred & sent ripples of grief & pain throughout the UK. You will never walk alone has been Liverpool club anthem since 1963 when it was released by a band from Liverpool called Gerry & the pacemakers, whose cover version reached number 1 in the uk charts. The fans have always sang this anthem with such passion in their hearts because it is a representation of their wondeful City & football team. It became even more special than ever before after the tragedy of the Hillsborough disaster & was re-released again as a tribute to the 97 fans who sadly lost their life in such tragic circumstances. It reached number 1 in the UK charts for a second time ❤. RIP Liverpool 97. Gone but never forgotten 💔

    The man in charge, (David Duckenfield) had a clear view on stadium CCTV cams of Police actively herding fans into already full pens. When he & all those in that room noticed fans being crushed, he froze & failed to act. Police on scene were told to edit their statements, to blame the fans & altering timelines re ambulances arriving. Statements with suggested alterations scribbled on them have been shown in recent news articles. Duckenfield has never apologised or faced prison.

    YNWA was well before Hillsborough, nor did it it start with Liverpool. It was Celtic fans showing respect to Liverpool (Good friends), when they went to a Liverpool game (It was a Liverpool charts song at the time). Liverpool took it from there as well as other clubs do, nothing like Liverpool. Godspeed

    The real innocent fans in all of this are those who unfortunately lost their lives. The police handling and the ticketless fans both were to blame. The Police were in a catch 22 outside the gates. There was a huge potential for a crush situation outside which may have resulted in loss of life. The decision to open the gate was, as we all know wrong, but hindsight is an incredible thing. The attempted cover-up by the Police was wrong. I used to travel to lot's of away games in the Mid 70's/80's/90's and lost count of the times loads of us went without tickets. I've been in situations where my feet haven't touched the floor for a couple of minutes due to the crush of the crowd in a confined area. The one time that sticks in my mind where i thought i was genuinely going to die is when we visited Southampton (old ground). There was a low narrow tunnel that led into the away end. I Cannot describe how frightening it was. If someone had tripped i dread to think what would have happened. This is one of many incidents throughout those years this happened. The press coverage didn't help but i maintain to this day there are some Liverpool fans in their 60'and 70's who must be walking around knowing they contributed to the awful and tragic events of that day, but would never admit to it.

    I don't agree with the court process only blaming the police not the people cramming into the goal end pens The crush hasnt happened before so why would they expect it to happen then Even if there were tickets for each seat people would still get around spontaneously

      The police sent them down the tunnel into and already packed terrace ,please get your facts right as ignorance is a massive part of the problem ,the police tried to blame fans for forcing the exit gate when in fact they opened it and it was all caught on camera,I was at the semi final the year before and it was shocking then but luckily no one got injured,there was no fan violence and if it wasn’t for the Liverpool fans hundreds more would have died ,they we’re giving cpr while waiting for the emergency services to arrive

    • @perrylindsay6682
      @perrylindsay6682 Před 6 dny

      I just thought I'd add a few comments, what this other person says I agree with entirely, you do need to read facts and get a bit of knowledge on Hillsborough ( the ground ) ,you say they all had a seat and a ticket, that part where the crush happened, they were standing, above was the seating ,at the enquiry they counted every person who entered to tickets sold and never came up with more people entering ,fact ,I went to Hillsborough around 84/85 with Liverpool in a league match, me and my mate went to go down that tunnel and 2 policemen told us to go to either side ,yes that simple and I'm sure it had gates to close if needed ,I know it was more crowded but alls it needed was about 10 police to tell people to go either side ,wouldn't you agree ? also ,Tottenham played in a semi final and said it was horrific and I talked personally to a man utd fan who was In that end and said he feared for his life so when you say it had never happened before, who knows ,there was an incident with Newcastle a couple of seasons ago when their fans complained and it it is now all seated so before you jump to conclusions I think you will find it was the police and the ground hierarchy that were at fault ,I hope this helps with some knowledge of Hillsborough in general !!
