    It's annoying when bands say (insert name) is the best (guitarist, drummer, singer) we ever had. When Broderick was in his first couple years in the band, Mustaine commented that it was like when Ozzy and Randy Rhoads first got together. Really? So then how is Kiko the best guitarist in Megadeth? They should just say, "Chris left so now we have Kiko and he's great." No bullshit. I bet people don't even care anymore. It was a bigger deal when Marty left.

      @@SuperHorsecow Kiko is a top notch all around musician as he is a multi instrumentalist. From that stand point, I can see why they rate him so highly. With that said, imo, Poland was the most unique lead guitarist a thrash metal band has had. Marty's style to me fit Megadeth well as well. Poland is my fave but Marty and Kiko deserves their praise as well. The other guitarists that were in the Megadeth are in no way just average guitarists. I just prefer Chris 1, Marty 2. and Kiko 3.

    • @malevolentsband6737
      @malevolentsband6737 Před 8 lety +5

      +tech noir Most people would say if you're playing an instrument, you are putting emotion and soul into it, regardless. It's an art form. So yes, he does have soul in his playing, as it IS unavoidable to do so.
      Though I admit at times, with some of his solos, it felt like he structured them in a way where mentally he knew it fit well together... and not by how he FELT it fit best together. An example would be... Like when you're composing a solo in the Key of E Minor. He would maybe play the 12th fret of the E string in a particular spot because it's the correct note for that spot and it's guaranteed to fit in the key in a proper song composition. Whereas some guitarists would take the 10th fret of E and bend it to 12, then maybe tap 15 at the top of the bend because it FELT right to them. Not because it was correct on paper. So in that sense, it does seem like he was more mathematical than emotional with his playing.

    Jesus....man, Junior looks so old.
    Not meant to be an insult. I have tons of respect for him. Just saying...
    Also, I think I speak for all Megadeth fans (please, correct me if I'm wrong) when I say "good riddance, Shawn Drover". I don't want to completely disrespect a musician like that, so that isn't as harsh as it sounds. I just mean that he was never right for Megadeth. That band is a band that can only thrive when it has truly creative musicians. When you listen to Shawn's beats, there is very little that you can point at and say "wow...I haven't heard that before". He did his job, but he is no Nick Menza (or any other renowned drummer, for that matter).
    I have high hopes for this new lineup, though what I've heard so far hasn't really blown me away.
    Honestly, I think Dave Mustaine is the heart and soul of the band. He ends up deciding whether or not a Megadeth album is going to be huge, or not. I liked Endgame, I LOVED 13, I hated Supercollider, and what I've heard of this next album doesn't appear to be something Megadeth fans can get really excited about. I've spent a lot of time doing things like reading "Mustaine" (Dave's biography), and following the history of the band. The fact is, Megadeth also thrives when Dave has that musical fire. It depresses me to say this, but he appears to be losing that fire.
    It's inevitable. No king reigns forever, but that doesn't make it any less sad when the reign comes to an end.

      I really digged Menzas energy in his playing, but he's a total jerk. So you can't really work with him. I feel the same about SC and I hope for some cool tracks on the new album.

      @onpsxmember Před 8 lety

      The Metal One
      I can't say that for sure, cause i haven't seen on of them playing live. They are hard to compare, but gar coming from jazz is very unique and adds a lot to the songs feeling of the early albums. I'm happy that there are both megadeth-eras. I think it also comes down to which album was the entry-album to megadeth. Mine was CtE which i really love. English is not my mothertongue so i listened to it without understanding most of the lyrics.
      I only discovered them years later when my english improved a lot.
      Guitarist wise i first thought Marty was the best they had, but when i got better as a player myself...its Chris Poland. I could never play the crazy influences hes into.
