His casting was perfect. His performance with his mannerisms and contempt dealing with the modern world coupled with his line delivery made him oddly likeable even though he was a huge POS. His voice also made him sound older. It was like it gave him a maturity that was in conflict his younger appearance. He sounded like that old man that was behind in the times. He perfectly depicted that grouchy chauvinist Captain America if Steve wasn't such a good person and didn't speak like a boy scout.
I like this take from season 3 it's more nuanced than the stormfront stuff where they make it seem like homelander is the lesser evil just cuz he cares for his kid. Where as you actually know and kind of agree with soldier boy in season 3 when he needs to get revenge on payback for what they put him through that incidentally gave him PTSD, it's a nice touch that he doesn't acknowledge that he's been killing people around him because his mental disorder wasn't checked out, some might chalk it up to a generation thing but I know people out there who doesn't want to acknowledge that they or their family has a particular mental illness when it goes against traditional values or them not wanting to admit their flaws.
He seems like how a real person would act and not just some shitty Nazi strawman like stormfront was and I think the show was in dire need of him+ temp v because season 2 derailed the plot so much that by the end when stormfront was getting stomped it felt like the goonies or a Stephen king novel.
It’s good to know people in high places. If the writer didn’t love his Supernaturals stars so much, the role might’ve been given to someone else. But Jensen Ackles is one of his boys and owes a good deal of success to him and Jared. On that note, when is Jared Padalecki going to show up on the show, and what role will he play?
@@mrdude88 It was like watching Dean when he was possessed by Michael the archangel it was the perfect casting
Or when dean was a knight of hell
Soldierboy is basically a human Godzilla. no other role is worthy of Dean Winchester.
I also think why he turned against his son was because Soldier boy saw too much of himself in Homelander and realized his own father was right. Homelander is Soldier boy but he didn't want that for his kids, he wanted them to be better then him but instead Homelander became a darker reflection of him.
Homelander was the upgrade in every manner particularly the perversion.
Soldier boy had a deal with butcher. That's the only reason he went ahead and try to fulfill that deal.
@@petboy5839 It was deeper than that. Soldier Boy said “I wish I could’ve been there to raise you, then maybe you wouldn’t be a weak sniveling pussy.” Homelander replied “Weak? I’m you.” Solider Boy visibly sad replies “I know.” Soldier Boy looks down on him since Soldier Boy considers himself weak, all of his weak qualities are worse in Homelander. Soldier Boy has a lot of insecurities because of how his father raised him which led him to being such a broken person, he didn’t want that for his child.
@@victornieves1794 C'mon. Soldier boy know better than that. You won't always raised a child to be exactly like you. Children will have their own personality. Maybe they'll be like you maybe they won't.
@@petboy5839 I don’t think you get what I was trying to say. Basically Soldier Boy is a bad person but he always wanted a family and he wanted his children to be better than himself. He wasn’t there to raise Homelander and Homelander came out worse which is what Soldier Boy never wanted. Soldier Boy was saying that he wished he was there to raise Homelander to be a good person.
Friendly reminder jenson was one of the candidates for captain America along side Chris evans. So him being an evil cap is more than perfect casting.
thats a cool fact, thanks for sharing.
Chris was the perfect cap! With Soldier boy, all I see is Dean Winchester with bigger balls and zero regrets
Jensen would of done well as cao
@@nadine8764just like dean without sam
I wouldn't call him evil. At least after the expieriments the russians did on him. The show really wants you to randomly start hating him near the end for some stupid reason but I think that the ending was terrible because soldier boy is one of the ONLY supes who doesn't currently want to harm anyone and just wants to live a normal life at this point but they valued killing him over killing homelander who threatens to destroy the entire earth ON THE DAILY.
In my opinion, Black Noir was truly this season’s tragic character. In his past he was abused and denied the opportunity to spread his wings. In the current he was just Homelander’s lap dog. He ran from Soldier Boy, worked up the courage to return to his supposed ally’s side, only to have his guts ripped out by that same “ally”.
Harder to like him knowing the comic noir. ( I know they're different people ), he'll probably ba revived by Stan in some BS comeback Gus fring always comes back.
@@WILLPORKER I’m SO, sooooooo glad they didn’t go with comic Noir lol
He survived like a quarter of his brain being taken out(when his face was melted) , so maybe survives guts hanging out?
I really was hoping they'd use Noir's history with Soldier Boy, and Soldier Boy's return to play with the idea of Noir harboring a deep hatred and slowly grew mad over the source of season 3. I was hoping he wouldn't go back to Vought tower until the finale. Imagine that there was a momentary truce between The Boys and Soldier Boy, and Homelander for a minute, then suddenly Noir shows up to kill Soldier Boy. Starts fighting him, and then towards the middle of the fight (maybe Soldier Boy gets the upper hand, which I'm sure he would) and then Noir pulls out a customized version of compound v which acts as a steroid for supes. This makes him just slightly stronger than Soldier Boy off a single dose, but Noir maybe takes 3, so he's basically gotta get jumped by everyone present.
To add onto this, as a POC with brain injury, it felt really nice to see someone else like that on TV, especially on a show like The Boys. It's even better to see people in the comments of videos and posts being empathetic towards Black Noir's brain trauma, something I've been discriminated against for ever since my car accident. It gives me hope that the world is making progress.
Jensen Ackles was phenomenal is Season 3! He worked very hard to pin-point his voice and cadence to sound like someone from the 30s/40s.
Indeed.
I may be biased (big supernatural fan lol) but he carried this season...not that the other actors were bad but damn his character is so badass
I thought his voice was thicker or something
@@funtourhawk Having a presidential candidate named “Robert Singer”, played by Jim Beaver, was a nice touch by Kripke. The small stop and look that Soldier Boy gave when he saw the campaign poster (when he was walking the streets for the first time after being captive) was a nice little addition as well.

Doesnt give them the right to do what they do. Past trauma is such a pathetic excuse for current actions. At least have the balls to admit youre a piece of garbage, dont blame the past.
The third season of the series was very brutal, violent, and insane, but it was fun to watch and that whole Soldier Boy/ Homelander twist made My jaw drop!
Yes it was and I loved every minute of it !
I realized that the humor in the show has slowly been sapped out and is being replaced with this gut wrenching anxiety. I love it.
They dropped the damn ball.
I wasn't really surprised by the reveal of their parentage given all of the clues and breadcrumbs left in this season, but otherwise yes this whole season was a rollercoster of emotions and unexpected outcomes.
Nobody (besides Starlight and Mother's Milk being loyal to their kwn principles, hubrises and pathos as usual) was truly what they liked to show to be, as once stated Hughie about S.B. . Truly absolutely *nobody.* Hughie relapsed into his tendencies for revenge and the thrilling of being cauggt into a dangerous adventure with a more macho, life-weary surrogate cool-older-brother figure. Homelander's would-be confident, tyrannous, borderline unhinged narcopathic facade cracked at last and showed to the whole world his cowardice, self doubt and violent histrionic impulses while also mirroing the generational curse of such hubris and flaws being passed down by both Soldier Boy and Voight Industry's corporate zetegeist as the season arc unfolds. Soldier Boy was not the Darker, Cooler Cynical Captain America-slash-Winter-Soldier-slash-Havoc-slash-The-Comedian-slash-kinda-Doctor-Manhattan with the heart of a knight we expected to see, but a bruised youngboy behind the veneer of a selfish war-frenzy monster behind the corporate veneer of another American Exceptionalism Propaganda fueled Noble Hero archetype who wounded up by relapsing into his darker personality traits and becoming a danger even for Ryan Butcher and the general populace (as intently seeking to ?%%%er his own 11-years old grandson proved that Starlight was ultimately right about Soldier Boy's carelelessness and lack of value for human life, although not absolute as his carelessness did actually festered as the episodes went on and on) .
Kimiko is not always that Tough Girl we all love to see beat the mess out of the Boys's opponents, and Frenchie had a hard time to get rid of his own cowardice and self guilt as he starts to get his own sense of agency and manhood back after years of humiliation and shame from most every single person involved in his life (including the hypocritical Mallory, who still blame him for his unprofessional carelessness and sentimental distractions having costed the (accidental) m%%%er of her young grandsons at the hands of a pyrokinetic Supes, when she was responsible of millions of uoung lives ruined to this day over the past forty-so yeaes by the CIA's operations in Latin America and against the African American neighborhoods - their OWN cocitizens and compatriotes - in USA, leading partly to the mess that made Mother's Milk the man he is) . Mallory, again, a hypocrite.
Butcher was exactly what his now-gone wife Becca foresee about him using the Supes as an excuse to get the world burnt down into an all-out brawl he felt better comfortable within because he spite himself to be the spitting image of his violent bully of father and not being capable to save his younger brother from abuse and trauma.
Whom to Maeve? She showed being capable once again of selfless heroism at the lasting seconds of the fight and to stop thinkinf about her (justifiable) revenge and grudges against Homelander by thinking about the *true* greater good for once.
It was magnificent.

we need a spin-off series with Soldier Boy.
Jensen Ackles is a great, underrated actor and likeable as hell.
They could do a spin-off about his acting and singing career
Ackles is highly rated
Jensen is a great actor. I don’t think he’s underrated by any means. He was the co-star of one of the biggest tv franchises to ever exists. (Supernatural). The reason his career had stagnated was because of Supernatural. He was Dean Winchester so long, that he basically became Dean. It was hard for anyone too see him as anyone else for a long time. Just like it was hard for any of the actors from Harry Potter, or Twilight to break free from their past roles. Im glad to see him in other things now because he is such a great actor. I look forward to seeing him in more projects going forward, whether it has to do with The Boys, or other stand alone projects.
@@DrunkinDonuts97 true, and supernatural should have ended a long time ago. 20+ episode formulaic tv shows went out of style many years ago, and after the first 5 or 6 seasons the episodes became very bland and repetitive. cant believe the actors let it go on, no way they signed on for more than a couple seasons at a time after season 5.
@Logan-dk8of The only season that felt bland and repetitive was when that whole secret society stuff got implemented.. other than that, they did an amazing job exploring everything from limbo to a unique take on biblical leviathans to witchcraft to a gnostic interpretation of God itself.
Amazing how a new character like SB can come in the 3rd season with established favorites like Homelander or Butcher and climb to the top. Jensen Ackles did an amazing job with this role! I was actually rooting for him, sad that he got betrayed again. I'm sure he'll be brought back for the 4th season with how well his character was received.
When compared to the reboot of "Walker Texas Ranger", Soldier Boy looks like a shoe-in for an Emmy.
Even though I'd love for him to return in s4, it's very likely that soldier boy's story is all wrapped up and he won't be a recurring character.
@@refinedcactus5688 but that doesn’t make sense why the would capture him at the end then they could’ve just had him blow up or something and say he died if they didn’t want him to come back
Yeah with all the positive feedback, this isn’t the last of SB.
the glorious beard man, it made him even more attractive, plus longer hair.
Like Soldier boy said, the real bitch of it was, if he wasn't sold out by Vought to the Soviets, Homelander could have grown up with someone to raise him, that could, for a deal of his formative years, keep him in check.
Prime example of the show letting us know, that even with the great acting from giancarlo esposito as Stan Edgar, this is not a over all smart character in terms of long game or consideration of consequences.
But most of all, "From a logical point of view, if you want to be happy living a kings life. Never make a pretty woman your wife~" the music videos they got of him are gold, cause I can imagine the seething embarrassment his character would have in having to do those lol.
I think Ben being a bully similar to Butchers dad may of turned John into Butcher, anger and full of rage. Ben was in no way fit to be a father with his own insecurities and daddy issues.
@@mitchjames9350 Maybe, maybe not. It seems that Soldier Boy didn’t want his children to come out like him so he might’ve treated Homelander differently. Even Homelander despite how evil he is, is actually a pretty good dad to Ryan, same thing applies to Butcher and Ryan. Either way, Homelander wouldn’t likely be as screwed up as he is if he grew up with 2 parents instead of by scientists in a lab where he was isolated and experiment on during his childhood.
@@victornieves1794 John is a loving father but a terrible father.

I personally thought the third season had some flaws with the writing, but I did like watching Jensen Ackles play Soldier Boy, especially during Herogasm.
Yeah. The writers were getting high off their own fumes. Yes Herogasm was good. The way they handled Hughie was a shame. I get what they were doing.
And Toxic Masculinity isnt going to make you kill your own son.
@@elykspuz6596 stfu about toxic masculinity u both clearly weren't watching or listening to the show well enough to know why he wants to kill homelander
It was flawed. Soldier Boy was written in a somewhat disappointing way, although acted superbly by Ackles. It seems like they forgot their wheelhouse is deconstructing the genre in a fun and disturbing way, and it all went a bit generic this season, despite some good moments.
@@rageagainstmyhairline5574 I mean they retconned tf outta him from what Stan told Homelander, that was just stupid writing. They could have kept him a serious douchebag while also leaving him an actual soldier who fought Nazis. They also kept trying to convey this sense that taking the moral high ground and winning "the right way" was the way to go even though they tried actively doing that in season 2 with congress and got multiple people killed as a result, it's like did the writers this season even watch season 2, tf? And that's just a couple issues I had.

*Honestly, Soldier Boy might actually be one of the coolest and most interesting characters I've seen in recent history.*
I mean, he's literally the Homelander before Homelander.
Except he can't fly which let's be honest.
If Soldier Boy" could?. He'd be arguably a bigger threat than Homelander"
@@user-xs5bl9dy6d he might not be as powerful as homelander but he’s already a bigger threat. The boys knew this and knew they had to take him out eventually. Homelander is easy to control but soldier boys is downright impossible to get a hold of.

Casting Jensen Ackles was *PERFECT* for Soldier Boy! He has that gruff exterior and just exudes a psychopathic personality, all the while he is naturally charismatic and draws you in when he speaks, forcing you to like him.
When you watch the fight between The Boys and Homelander, Soldier Boy doesn't fight like a trained martial artist. He is an outright brawler, he is strong and he knows that. Using it to his advantage, he just ploughs through whomever he fights. This makes more sense as to why Homelander was scared after the fight. Soldier Boy proved to be almost as strong as Homelander, with his brawling, any means neccessary fighting style, factored in with his ability to depower supes, Homelander had every reason to be scared.
With Soldier Boy, Temp-V powered Butcher and Hughie, Queen Maeve and Starlight after him, even Homelander would die.
But Soldier Boy was so amazing. He is an outright psychopath but he pulled you into his performance and made you root for him, whether he was killing mind controlled priests, hunting his teammates or trying to kill Homelander, Jensen Ackles performance was absolutely stunning.
Agreed, the martial arts thing is so overdone and not likely to be the fighting style of someone of that era. Yes a brawler in the true sense of the word.
Honestly I don't get why Starlight, MM, Frenchie, and Kimiko when after Soldier Boy I get SB killed MM's family but they do realize that after he kills his team and Homelander he'll probably go off somewhere never to be seen again. His team is dead, his son is dead and he's done with Vought so he has nothing to do or live for. Also I do think Soldier Boy's blast would've killed Homelander because had SB charged the blast longer it would've killed Maeve because everytime he charges the beam longer its more deadly.
I understand MM biased but it made him insufferable when Butcher clearly stated he can have SB after killing HL.
With Starlight its because its the "heroic" thing to do.
Hughie: He is our weapon to defeating HL; Starlight: you are just exchanging one psycho for another
Hughie: They are going to Vought Tower to kill HL Starlight: If he SB pulled another Herogasm, thousands of workers would die
SB: I'm not going back to that fcking box; Starlight: If you don't, you'll kill everyone
For Frenchie and Kimiko, the reasons I can come up with is that they are just tag along who only saw MM and Starlight side of the story. And also SB accidentally nuking Kimiko.
I don't think Soilder Boy's blast would kill Homelander I do think it would remove his powers. Same with Ryan.
@@BrokenSIMGlasses Didn't Hughie have all the workers evacuate during the fight?
@@charzanboo9940 not all but mostly correct but you have to remember

Though other reason I can see why the rest of The Boys are ganging up on SB is bc they see SB fighting Butcher when they came in the room so they immediately supported Butcher though very dumb that everyone is ignoring that QM is fighting HL alone in the background
@@BrokenSIMGlasses Agreed, dumb writing. Should've written SB's character differently or hired a less charismatic actor lol.
The biggest problem I have with season 3 is how the writters treated Soldier Boy. I don't understand why they made him likeable only to try to actively push the audience to dislike him in the finale despite him honoring his side of the deal. I don't like it, the ending just didn't work for me.
Yeah they shoulda made soldier boy more hatable if that’s the direction they wanted to go.
Yeah that finale was weird and rushed a bit, maybe explore more on just how bad SB was before this version him got deiced before pulling the twist, I am not saying The Boys turning on him isn't out of character or anything but it felt far too quick with him just saying "I will kill my Grandson too".
im not so sure, the best villains ive seen always had a motive that was to help or protect in thier eyes. They just went about it in a bad way wich you can apply to almost everything .
We kill inmates with injections for killing people. We understand this and most people feel its justified.
Toy with that idea in your head and you will start seeing it everywhere wich shows you the flaw in humans, and why we can relate to vilians.
Because the boys is a critique of US, not the superheroes. That's why homelander constantly says "You're the real heroes". It's OUR ignorant fascination with heroes and villains the show is ripping on and vought represents our western capitalist system as being the manifestation of our subconscious juvenile fantasies: We see homelander as the villain but who made him? and why? Vought, so they could control him and use him.
Why isn't homelander working on a building site? He could whip skyscrapers up with his bare hands, why isn't he useful or productive to the economy why is he fighting crime? Who would even commit crime if someone as powerful as him was there to stop it? The same could be said of superman. The truth is in order to have a hero you MUST have a villain and that doesn't mean that the world is full of heroes and villains, we are all the product of our upbrinigng as the show CLEARLY demonstrates with homelander, butcher and soldierboy if these people want a villain to fight they need to villainize someone... and that's what we as humans do... we make villains of each other because we are not intelligent enough to help each other.
I thought it was perfect. SB had his mission and his word. He stuck to both, acting like a bit of am arsehole along the way. He stuck to his word even after butcher told him not to.
Mr. Ackles was such an outstanding choice for the role. Very underrated actor
I love how you said "like the coward he truly is" when talking about Homelander using Ryan to thwart SB's attack.
Also.....it was such stupid writing to have them all turn on soldier boy....Like the things Homelander has done is simply ok based on SB hitting Ryan.....it was a bad call, or it could have been done more convincingly.
I think it was more that he was willing to kill Ryan as long as he killed Homelander with him that turned everybody against him.
The writers and every outlet they are undoubtedly paying keep trying to sell the logic that soldier boy is worse.
He's not. They dropped the ball and know they did.
Or consider that EVERY character in that situation is flawed and in the wrong.

Solid video, FilmComicsExplained! Soldier Boy makes for a fantastic addition to The Boys roster due to Jensen Ackles' stellar performance. Soldier Boy's super powers represent who he is as a person. He's obsessed with being seen as an invincible, strong man, so he has nigh-unbreakable skin and superhuman strength. At the same time, Ben is highly radioactive-just like his toxic views and mistreatment of others. It's no mistake that he is depicted as being a literal ticking time bomb.
Homelander didn't try using Ryan as an excuse for Soldierboy not kill him. Homelander genuinely wanted a family. He has no sense of belonging. He believed this was a chance for him to truly have a family.
Probably my favorite thing about Soldier Boy and Black Noir when compared to the other supes, is that they know how to fight. Like extremely well. Kimiko easily being one of the most brutal and skilled characters in the show got outclassed by both of em. Soldier Boy being the more impressive case as he was fighting several supes at once and was still level headed enough to grab Kimiko trying to sneak up on him.

Soldier boy was the best boy
I hope soldier boy comes back stronger and angrier in season 4
The TV show changed Soldier Boy a lot. In the Comics there was actually 3 Soldier Boy.
The original was in fact deployed to fight in World War 2, but he died on his first mission.
The second was a replacement for the original, but we dont know much about him.
The third one was the leader of Payback like in the TV show, but he was nothing more than a mascot. He had no powers and he wasn't even a good fighter. Billy was able to defeat him on his own.
Plus he was Homelander's buttboy, in the hopes of joining the Seven
Digging “The Comedian/ Winter Soldier” vibe. Brilliant!
Love your videos
Thanks Winston!
The boys is the best show out rn
To add to your points about the powers (great video btw)... i think it's implied that Homelander is physically stronger than Soldier boy, but that Soldier Boy is more durable.
We can tell because Homelander, during the herogasm fight, is able to lift Soldier Boy up with one hand and SB is unable to break it with both his hands trying. On the durability point, Homelander took half a second of Butcher's laser, went flying back, and was genuinely hurt and stunned for a second by the damage and unexpected nature of it. During the finale fight, Soldier Boy tanks that same laser point blank to the face for at least 2-3 solid seconds without really being so much as scratched. HL is definitely stronger, but the durability of SB is basically invulnerability levels
I agree about the durability to strength dichotomy between homelander and soldier boy! That compound v + radiation has turned Soldier Boy into super supe though. He has the power to not only kill supes but disempower them too. I wonder what else he’s hiding 🫣
@@filmcomicsexplained I feel that once he uses that blast he's a little weakened by it, after torching the TNT twins and then on joining Butcher he had supported himself along a wall as he came down the stairs. It was a small gesture but an indication of how emitting such an energy burst takes it toll, whilst making it harder for him to power up again easily.
@@gemqueen1866 that would also explain how they were able to put him back into captivity at the end following his full nuclear explosion. Maybe that knocked him out, just long enough, for the government to find him and put him back on "ice" so to speak.
How soldier boy went from explosion, to captured again left me curious... but the explosion sapping him briefly or leaving him KO'd would explain it perfectly
Also soldier had just been released after 40 years so i understand if he wasnt at 100%
Herogasm isn't even a fair measure of strength for SB. First real fight after being back from 40 years of imprisonment.
Thanks for the video! It was nice to see you cover The Boys.
the first minute and twenty seconds are solid and amazing
The brutality of the succeeding seasons has made the series and characters more interesting to watch
He became my favorite character as soon as his episode came along
Man I love your videos they feel like they are actually explaining something and teaching us of stuffs we don’t know anything about to me that’s real dedication and you deserve even better for not getting us bored and actually uploading entertaining videos.
Thanks Killer!
I think Soldier Boy’s blast would depower Homelander. If you noticed in the Herogasm fight scene, when Solider Boy was on Homelander’s back charging his blast, it looked like Homelander was struggling to activate his heat vision.
That was a very well put together video thank you
I know Soldier Boy is probably just supposed to be a one off villian like Madelyn Stillwell and Stormfront but I really hope that he comes back into it at some point. He is a phenomenal character and I really want to see the boys go up against him again.
They did our boy Noir wrong.
Thank you so much for making this video, this are really important facts and I missed some of them when watching the season.
You're so welcome!
Thank you for covering the boys again! Fantastic show, and I honestly like how it Strating from the comic and making its own story as it goes. Very pleased with the current season
Glad you enjoy it!
Bro tired from being the older brother and decided to have a different back story on different universe. I wonder if Sam is in The Boys universe as well... 🤔
You know whats weird, Nathan Mitchell who plays black noir is also in supernatural, so is Lesley Nicol who plays connie Butcher, Jim Beaver who is their unofficial father in supernatural that guides the brothers is also Secretary of Defense Robert A. Singer, his name is also a supernatural easter egg haha Theres a few more I havent listed too!
@@filmcomicsexplained I swear Robert A. Singer gotta play every single Singer character is any type movie.
No Sam became a Texas lawman and now hangs out on a ranch.
@@filmcomicsexplained Hah! I just went and searched. Its true. I guess we are moving into the Kripkeverse.
This was a darn dang good video. Thanks!
Thanks Ben!
You should do one on homelander or just compound V
I actually did one on Homelander 2 years ago. Its in the description above. Also here lol - Homelander (DIABOLICAL SUPERMAN) The Boys Explored - czcams.com/video/zTI-m7seLJo/video.html
Compund V is definitely on the list!
there already is one on homelander, but it's from season 1
@@filmcomicsexplained k
You cut off my favorite bits in your opening.
"No no. I'm the upgrade"
Then HLs haunting primal yell.
The third season was 🔥🔥🔥... Can't wait for the 4th season 👍
Thank you for this.
Nicely done!
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
I want a whole seperate series about soldier boy's tale
Thank you! No one has mentioned what a stellar job the actor who played young Mr. Edgars did.
I feel like he could be a good Batman
You mean Green Lantern
Another great video mate
Soldier boys best power is his sexy man voice
Top tier video my guy
Thanks Joey!
I’m so excited you’re diving I to the boys!!!
excellent review my friend
Ok..
Haven't watched The Boys in long time...
But love the series. Excellent job. You've got me pretty much caught up.
Thanks.
I feel like Soldier Boy's depiction in the show was absolutely inspired by nuclear scare. It makes so much sense for it to be. He comes from a time when nuclear scare had truly just begun, with the invention of the bomb; and he gets brought back into the loop in a time when it's scarier than ever. We now live in a world where a single nuke, placed properly, could end a quarter of all life as we know it. Solider Boy is a walking representation of that. A loose cannon that nearly wipes out every city he walks into. It almost reminds me of Vash the Humanoid Typhoon and Godzilla, as well. Both being very radiation-based characters.
Either you crank that solider boy or that solider boy cranks you.
The Boys is so much fun it almost feels like I'm breaking the law watching it..
The Herogasm fight scene was beyond PERFECT. Disappointed that Soldier Boy didn’t have the opportunity to at least drain both Homelander as well as Ryan of their powers.
Great video. SB is such an interesting character.
My biggest issue with season 3 is how the writers did Noir so wrong at the end
they did everyone dirty too. plust it became obvious they are padding and dragging out the plot. the whole season coud have been 3 times as short without pointless subplots that went nowhere (do we really need that much time on the russian mobsters?)
@@CoolGobyFish I agree. The Russian Mobsters were so obsolete that they posed no threat in my mind whatsoever. At least not at all compared to the supes. Also, this whole flip-flop BS of one second Butcher's team are with him and next they aren't was a little much. It's like come on, why are you surprised now that Butcher is the way he is?
@@Writing-With-Dyslexia The Russian mobsters weren’t really supposed to be threats. That sub plot was to reveal more about Frenchie’s past and psychology so he can stop being a follower, and it was the experience that made Kimiko decide to get her powers back.
Seeing Jensen in this was awesome after having watched him on Supernatural for nearly half my life and I got the sense he was having a good time in the role. He was a brilliant cast for Soldier Boy.
I was mad how they all jumped Soldier Boy at the end but were willing to overlook Homelander and everything he did. Talk about hypocrisy.
I love that Jensen is getting the recognition he deserves. My Supernatural people know what's up.
Saw Jensen for the first time in dark angel as a genetically enhanced soldier called Alec he was the best character
This was greatly explained
How does his chi block power work? I'd like for that to be better explained in the show
I assume the radiation specifically targets the Compound V in the Supe's body and completely burns it out. Hence why Kimiko had to get injected with it again to get her powers back
@@mayordong4655 homelander even tells Maeve after herogasm that soldier boy had fried the V out of the blood of the ones who survived
"Chi block power" ?? More like radiation-based Compound V nullification/Supes disempowerment power. Had been a Chi block that he would have deleted every single animate lifeform and object, for as Chi is, by principle, pouring and transcending all things within the natural world and the very ether of the cosmos-- unless you've been talking about Qi block disempowerment power, which is neither his power.
@@ptolemeeselenion1542 that's the joke. Lmao wtf
@@ptolemeeselenion1542 are you ok man? What else could you better compare it to than the Avatar blocking the chi? Yes functionally different things happening but the end result is a depowered individual.
nice video, as usual.
Soldier Boy was by far one of my favorite characters in season 3. I hope Jensen Ackles comes back and plays him.
For those who are confused that Soldier Boy has experience of fighting even though he wasn't in part of WW2, he joined the military prior before he got his powers.
Been waiting on this!I was ready for Soldier Boy! I was really hoping he was going to take out Homelander's crazy ass this season!
I feel so bad for soldier boy he was betrayed by the boys in the final battle. At the same time i completely understand why butcher betrayed him as he promised to protect ryan to his dying wife
Tryna "move on up" lmao brilliant.
I personally loved when Soldier Boy stuck to his morals. Felt like a big character moment like he finally decided to follow through after being reminded about what he was. He saw Homelander as an even more rotten version of himself.
FilmComicsExplained Could you do a video of the Iron Giant next?
Its on the to do list Cam Boom!
👍
About time 😜
love it.
10:16 stormfront said that Ryan was the first natural supe. He does not have V in him. It would be kick ass to see him be immune to SB's radiation. Soldier Boy Is my Hero
Dope video. Could care less for spoilers for this man. He is cool. Now I'm hyped. Also, does anyone know the theme playing at 10:25.
I love soilder boy and jensen killed it. I want him to come back so badly
Having everybody survive that explosion at the end was pushing the limits, especially considering the source. Good season by and large, give it a 7 of 10.
They didn’t survive he explosion, they weren’t even in the blast radius.
@@victornieves1794 Maive and Soldier Boy are in the center of it
@@ironreed2654 Oh, I though you were talking about The Boys and Homelander. It makes sense that they would survive though. Soldier Boy should be tough enough to survive his own blast since his body produced it. Queen Maeve is almost as strong as Soldier Boy and Homelander.
@@victornieves1794 It takes the edge out of the shows premise; If Maive could survive the blast then Homelanders was never in much danger since he is stronger.
@@ironreed2654 But she’s powerless now so Homelander was always and still is in danger. If Soldier Boy blasted Homelander he probably wouldn’t be injured that badly but he’d be completely powerless and easy to kill.
Since you clearly have an Amazon account for watching the boys. I'd be more than pleased if you'd cover the characters in Invincible. Starting with Mark Grayson ( invincible), Omni Man, the mauler twins, Cecil, and my personal favorite so far Battle Beast.
Such a nice and balanced character
