- Reginald "Reggie" Franklin, also known as A-Train and the Fastest Man in the World - is a major character in the Amazon series The Boys.
He is essentially a speedster once part of the team known as the Teenage Kix, a returning member of The Seven and the archenemy of Hughie Campbell after inadvertently killing his girlfriend Robin, ultimately leading to the formation of The Boys.
Underneath the exterior of a celebrity superhero lies a man with a deep insecurity about staying at the top.

What a way to start a show. Set the tone. And make you realise these idols are not superheroes but something terrifying, humans with godly powers..

Stated by his brother Nate. Due to compound V abuse, A-train's bone density became crap. So that may have contributed when Kimiko broke his leg.

@@thecopperiris kimiko surprised him as he was drugged up with compound V. Talking to Hughie distracted him. But it's weird, he should be able to see Kimiko attacks, cause he's a speedster. Why writers always like to weaken or do dump storyline with speedsters getting hit by way slower attackers. Supes with speeds are (OP)
@@southspin7694 I was honestly thinking the whole meeting with A train thing would’ve been finding a way to drug him or knock him out and then interrogate him and break his leg just like in the comic but that was before I know what would happen later on and in season 3

The fact that A-train perceives the world in slow-mo while running just makes Robin’s death that much worse.
Either he didn’t care, or he was literally focusing on everything except where he was running to.. that’s a crazy headspace to be in.

@@Adrian_Weekly Normally I would agree. But with that much V in your system, no way he was in a normal state of mind.
It was because he doped up V that's why he was also breathing very heavy when he stopped since he was running faster then normal speeds
7:04-7:15 Though A-Train has been transplanted with a supes heart, it's debatable whether or not if he can operate back to his original capacity. Given that the heart he received might not be compatible for a speedster. Shockwave's heart would've been a more suitable choice.
Unfortunately season 3 had a ton of hand-waving of details like this so they'll probably ignore this detail and say "supe's heart in supe's body is good enough"

@@John-Doe-Yo nothing on its own but when coupled with other details that they seem to ignore, I feel like some attention to detail is being lost. An example: butcher is given months to live due to the temp-V whereas Hughie seems fine despite them both having brain tumors that made black goo leak out of their ears. I know butcher took more of it but Hughie shouldnt magically recover without lasting effects. Ignoring the consequences of people's actions is a large departure of what made the show appealing in the first place.

Nah bud. He's one of the least sympathetic. Every time it seems he or almost any character is going to have a redemption arc it never gets off the ground. Maybe now that he has Bluehawks heart he might give it a genuine shot.
I feel like having sex with sea creatures deserves the lowest of the low award. Call me old fashioned.. but that is just a tad too progressive for me. Humans should stick with humans 😂

A-train went from being another "hero" that I couldn't wait to be brutally killed by The Boys to one of my favorites in the whole show. He is written well and I've always digged super speed as a super power so that makes him an even more interesting character to me.
So basically A-Train is Flash if Flash was a junkie...

My personal favourite. A-train is a 3 dimensional character. He's not so cut and dry, and easy to figure out. He's learning slowly but surely and I'm interested to see where his character goes moving forward

@@filmcomicsexplained I know Maeve from a raw power point of view is stronger, but A-Train, as far as overall destructive scope in his power is definitely more powerful than Maeve.

genuinely, i feel if you work out using your powers, you could naturally increase your potential without literally burning out your body
maybe using a tiny drip feed, super slow of the V stuff to help increase that ceiling w/o doing absolute irreparable damage

if his perception is so highly increased n such- he ran through robin on purpose no doubt
she didnt get shot out into the street at insanely high speeds, she was sitting absolutely still
Meave estimated she would last a minute against Homelander and ended up doing better against him in a 1v1 than even Soldier Boy had. I honestly do attribute this to her actually training and prepping herself for a future confrontation. I think all supes can increase their base level abilities with proper training and dedication the same way normal humans can. They just don't.

oh yeah w/o a doubt, if they just disappeared and worked on their super-stamina (how long and hard they can use their powers) alongside maybe some new tricks n stuff no one would even be able to think against him none the less speak out/act out against em ((new tricks meaning, hypothetically, a-train able to vibrate so hard that he can make seismic waves or burrow through things, or even make afterimage copies of himself from sheer speed that can actually "feel" like theres now more than one a-train, which would almost make sense (what self centered sumbitch wouldnt love a crew of exactly yourself, that you control?) or homelander "charging" up a punch through pretty much eye-blasting his hands with explosive output (on contact, all the energy gets dumped and t h a t is what just disintegrates and explodes whoever it hits, or making his beam a shotgun of beams by hitting a special reflective piece of his suit))

A-Train and Mother's Milk are, along Black Noir, some of the most interesting second characters in the series.
Why? Because they're black? Racist loser bluehawk was just as interesting or even soldier boy but noooo they're not black so they're no intreesting
Both Flash and Quicksilver can move faster than that. Flash could cover New York in 5 minutes and I think Quicksilver can cover it in half that time
It is stated that Quicksilver's speed (MCU version) is faster than A Trains, but ofc their abilities are quite similar in that it takes their physical body to maintain their speed

Wonder Woman type powers
In shorter words, she possessed all of Homelander's powers save his ocular laser beams, levitation, super speed abilities, nigh-invulnerability and capability to grow immune to most any harm or duress given (whether physical or to some extent psychological... which may have partly contributed to him slowly devolving from the once-kind and gentle infant boy he was to the mentally unhinged, somewhat narcissistic BPD-driven would-be do-gooder he was in his young debut superhero career, to the sociopathic malignant paranoid narcissist he currently to slowly fall off into Machiavellian psychopathy as the series goes on and forth...) . She was super strong, unnaturally durable, fast, agile and combative, albeit still to a much lower degree than Homelander's.
She was the second most physically powerful member of the Seven, albeit third in terms of combat skills and hand-to-hand combat prowess to Homelander and Black Noir, and third again in terms of super-speed to Homelander and The A-Train. She seems to be also proficient in swordmanship, although we never see her using her trademark weapon against any Supes-- but the fact she sharpened her blade and propped herself back into extensive training for an entire year in order to lead an eventual fight against Homelander may or may not suggests that the alloy used to forge her sword could pierce through the skin of highly durable Supes like her (albeit likely not on Homelander, given that the latter said to Black Noir it is vain to sharpen his katanas given that they are no use against his natural father Soldier Boy, who was supposed to be of equal or slightly lower level to Homelander in terms of durability and nigh-invulnerability) .
Her only physical weaknesses are her limited durability facing a fight against Supes of equal or superior strength, as well as her eyes. The fact that she somehow feared Black Noir may suggests that Black Noir's katanas, combat skills and ractical mind may constitutes a threat even to much stronger Supes such as her (albeit, once again, not against SB nor HL) .
Basically wonder woman.
She has super strength and durability. That is basically it as far as I can tell. Weaker version of Wonder Woman.
The story of A-Train in the series has been interesting, wonder how it will end after getting his new heart.
Hopefully when they attempt to kill homelander again, he will perhaps help and in end die protecting hughie, getting splattered like Robin was

I like the idea because of the compound V and his super speed ability, it affected more then just that. His heart is unhealthily stuck at a high heart rate that is damaging him slowly, until he has a heart attack. His bodies metabolism is much faster, so while he can achieve the speeds and heal fast, it also means he burns energy far quicker, so he can't achieve that speed for long distances like across states, he needs to eat far more for the speed, and when he takes damage in fights, the more it is the more strain it puts on his body, because of the accelerated healing conflicting with his hearts strain to keep up and his bone strength. And, his mind is itself fast, but not good fast. He is scatterbrained, often not thinking things through, he forgets stuff and can't do long memory now, and he will struggle to do things like math or sit down for a while, as his mind is simply incapable of it. He is a speedster, but at the cost that he is unable to do many normal things.
'The Boys' is definitely not the kiddie's MCU, and I love it.. Thanks Nyat, more content for this series please! 🙏💙

As for A-Train (going by the Show) he's only below Homelander/Storefront and Soldier Boy, he already betrayed the group with Super Sonic. To me it's Poetic that he now has Blue Hawks heart and his bro wants nothing to do with him.

A Train runs faster than Homelander but Homelander can literally fly faster than that since his flight speed is mach 54 (i think) so he won’t ever be racing A train on foot anyways

Even more messed up from Blue Hawks perspective. Imagine the person that killed you ends up being the one that got your heart. Blue Hawk can't really say anything about it Because he's dead but still.
One of the more interesting story arcs of the boys, really pushed in a great season three.
Over the last two years I have really grown to love your channel and the content you produce.
It's really cool to see you covering the boys, great work as always. I think you'd make an interesting video about The Monster (2016) and a mother and daughter stranded with a creature outside their vehicle. Its not the most amazing film but enjoyable and I'd like to see your take on it if you think it's interesting enough.
It's disturbing how many real life A-trains, Homelanders, and Queen Maeves are out there.

The Boys is one of the few comic adaptations that changes Alot but in doing so makes it better. Especially since we've been given dozens of superhero movies over the last decade. A parody/dark take on the idea is perfect

Off topic but….. couldn’t they have simply drowned translucent?
Frenchie said it was not possible to drown him. Dominicans tried it in 2007 and they did not succeed. This implies that Translucent can survive for long periods of time or indefinitely without breathable air.
I think yes, but they needed a way to keep him subdued and simultaneously not alert homelander (and it would presumably take absolutely ages)
He's an interesting character who could have a really good redemption arc if they choose to keep going that direction. Speed is my fav superpower, so it's fun when they have him doing stuff.
I love speedsters too. I just hope they don't go the route of The Flash and have any continuity rewriting using A-Train. Maybe do a one off Flashpoint Paradox type deal.
