Living The Dream Retirement life, Sharing with you our journey towards the fulfillment of our dreams.
See how I repurposed a chicken coop we weren't using for years into a hobby workshop for woodworking and meat processing. Join me as I venture into the unknown of making cured smoked bacon, ham and sausages. I'm excited to learn how to make smoked bacon, ham and sausage because you cannot buy cured smoked meats here in the Philippines. I'm hoping some of our CZcams family can give me some insight of how to do this process. At the very least we can learn and have fun trying to make it happen because lord knows I so miss good meat here in the Philippines. So, I hope you will join me on my triumphs or failures on this little mission I set out on. I've always gone by the moto of it's better to have tried something and failed, than to have tried nothing and succeeded. Cheers guys always take time to enjoy the simple things in life that truly matter your family and friends, chasing money in the end will never bring you happiness or joy into your life .

Our channel is focused more on people who prefer to live in the countryside of the province's in the Philippines and what to expect there. Rosemarie and I live in the mountains outside of the small town of Almeria Biliran we are not city type people, we enjoy to simply type lifestyle and are down to earth people. Great workshop. Just a suggestion concerning Randy's cigarette "butts". Instead of putting the "cig butts" on the floor to step on, try using a small bucket of water to put your "butts" in, to put them out, to lesson the risk of fire in your new workshop. Just be sure to "secure" or "fasten" the bucket of water to something solid in case the dogs or kids try to play with the bucket, or even hang the water bucket up high, where only Randy can reach it. Also try using a bucket for the small scraps of wood, to save a little time during cleanup. Just a side note for future reference, if ever you two have an argument while working in the workshop, please stop working and walk away for a little while to cool off, for you should never work angry when working with wood working machines. Remember, safety first, always. I am looking forward to when you two will be able to create some beautiful furniture or cabinets, that you can use or even sell, in the future. Amping (*_*)
@davidfres4975, lets call it the "Mummy Bucket?" hope he doesn't "kick it" though.
Try to use an small drillbit for a pilot hole and a screw will go in better
Great looking carpenter.
You're looking good to Rose. 😎👍👍
This Buds for you 🤣
I'm a woodworker, yes there is perfect! It all starts with the use of the proper tools and safety!
Yes but this is a small city in the Philippines it's hard to get proper tools here especially like drill bits that last longer than drilling one hole. So your a woodworker I have a question for you. The lumber here is all cut by hand with a chainsaw so obviously the thickness varies in all directions what is the best way to feed it through the planer start with the thick side or the thin side. I'm a little afraid I'm going to get a kickback with this wood bit it's all I have to work with.
Honey Pie, Beautiful Rosemary is lapping-up all your praises.
Well deserved.🫶🏻😂👌🏾🐖🍺🏝️🐕🇬🇧
Nice to see you both working together and having fun doing it.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🌈😍
Yes she's very deserving of praise I was very impressed with her work.
Good work Rose
Thank you! Cheers!
In a pinch, you can always use a nail as a drill bit to pre-drill until you buy more drill bits. Pre drilling and using screws makes the job a whole lot easier.
Thanks for the info. I wanted 3 inch deck screws but they don't sell them here in the Philippines.
the workbench looks great. you two did a good jib.
@@AmericaManFilipinoWife
With some practice and better tools, Rose will become a good cabinet maker. She is a hard working woman with many talents. Get her some good tool as she seems to enjoy working with wood. Blessings
Yes I didn't think she would enjoy it. We're just getting the shop set up so everything will be easier once it's set up.
Another Great video guys😊
Thanks Rodney Rose did a great job.
That's awesome you can do anything you are someone special enjoy watching you two working together
TIP put a piece of blue tape down on the line where you want to put your nails or screws. Draw a line where you want them to go, then remove the tape when finished. I always use blue tape when I need a line and don't want to mare the surface. You can use this method for a ton of things. (the blue tape straddles the proposed line)
Thank you For the useful tip
Roses doing a very good
Yes she really is she's having fun.
Needs a 2x4 going across the center of the table top for extra support or it will sag over time and you need a 2x4 halfway down the legs connecting the two together to help with keeping it from swaying and also to help keep the legs straight over time. Other than that was a great job
Thanks. Yes, I'm going to build a shelf down below
@DELTA Randy should drink beer and let Rose do the building LOL
Sounds good to me.
I love them. They enjoyed working together. 💞💖💚🧡💛🎉
You are so kind, Thank you very much
Hello Rose and Randy kindly remember to use safety gears while you are working. Interesting video. Nuff Love from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Will do.
Great job on the table guys. I believe you will enjoy that table for many years.
BTW an impact screw gun is 10 times easier to use to put those screws in.
I've never found that to help in wood but then again I'm use to working with pine.
@@AmericaManFilipinoWife oh yeah once you get the screw started you hardly have to apply downward force to drive the screw. I can’t make it without one anymore 🤣🤣🤣
I have two of them ill have to give it a try. It might make Rose excited though. 🤣
Man! I wish I had a helper like her in my shop!
I am for hire 😂
When you have an endboard that requires nailing, you should start all four nails before starting to attach the board. Drive the nail through the endboard until it comes through the board and is ready to make contact with the stretcher board.
I agree
Nice table. Very well done
Thanks we stumbled our way through it. Had to improvise a little on this one.
Rose is also right, if you put a proper size brace at the bow, you can pull the bow in. If you use screws it's even better.
That wood is very strong and the don't have long screws available here and nails would just pull out. The clamps worked well.
Team work makes the dream work! 😁
Oh yes
Looks Great!!
Thanks! Life will get easier as I get set up and able to buy more tools.
Nice shop have fun and congratulations 👍👍👍
Thanks, will do! Thanks for watching.
Wife does a better job than you
I know right.
Good job Rosemarie!!☺👍
Thank you! 😁
👍👍👍
Nice teamwork you too rose you are doing great job 😊
Thank You very much Kevin, Hope all is well at you
Try to use a small drillbit to start a pilot hole in your board before you put a nail in. It’ll go in straighter.
You need to install some cross-bracing to prevent racking. Small 45-degree boards at each leg connected to the stretcher board, with a cross member in between the legs.
I'm going to put a shelf down below as bracing.
Randy time to buy her a tool belt and tools for her
I think so Rosie the carpenter.
@@AmericaManFilipinoWife like Bob the builder 😂
You're a very very lucky guy! I'm a Pinoy as well but that type of a Pinay you've got is what I'm dreaming for!:):)👍👍
Thank you so very much
From my experience it,s alot easier if you lay it on the ground and stand on it when nailing it
Some times if you put bee wax on the screws thread's they go into hard wood easier 😊😊😊
Good job
Thanks
behind every great guy is a great woman, you are so lucky to have found a strong, intelligent woman like her, she is a diamond, she will keep you safe till your dying day, very lucky man, FOR GODS SAKE STOP DRINKING BEER WHILE USING A CIRCULAR SAW, I CAN SEE AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN, you are a nice guy, please be careful 😟
Thank you, welcome to our youtube family, I hope you will enjoy your stay
❤❤❤@@AmericaManFilipinoWife
Beautiful Rosemary, please hold the hammer nearer the end of the rubber.
It would give your wrist good swing and more force with minimum effort hitting the nail.🤔🇬🇧
Actually she wasn't to chocked up on the hammer for a woman I was impressed.
its good to see you guys are doing well !!
Hey Gasman, How are you doing?
Its been a long time, We hope all is well at you
I’m perfect 😂
She’s darned right about the wall support, Honey Pie.🤔🇬🇧
Shhh I didn't want to kneel in the concrete floor.
You mean you couldnt stand up again honeypie@@AmericaManFilipinoWife
Its hard for me, My right leg and right arm has celebral palsy
@@AmericaManFilipinoWife Oh dear beautiful Rosemary, so sorry to hear this.
Hope you’re having treatment for it.
Despite, you still wear amazing smiles as you get on with daily life. Wow!
Be well Beautiful flower.
🫶🏻🙏🏾🐖👌🏾😥🇬🇧
sorry @@AmericaManFilipinoWife
Try to start a pilot hole with a drillbit the nail going straight
If you had put the wood through the planer first you would have better squareness, when you put studs on table saw.
Yes but I need the bench to set up the planer on.
Big CAPEX for this project.Pig 90kg@180/kg=16,200p.Offcut 10 kg.80kg quartered and dried@300p/kg retail=24,000p.Gross =7,800p ,less expenses=electricity 1200p?=6,600 profit/all sold.Good luck.
Randy please get a push stick for the table saw, you need all your fingers
I have one but unless me fingers are going to be dangerously close to the blade push sticks are more dangerous to use than your hands. Think about it what if the push stick slips off the wood where is you hand going, straight towards the blade.
@@AmericaManFilipinoWife okay, I was just thinking about your safety, sorry if I suggested something more dangerous for you, it was not my intention.
I know you were. I truly appreciate your concern.
BE EVEN NICER IF YOU COULD HIT THE NAIL.
Looks like Rose taken all your project!😂
Appears that way.😏🙃
He looks like Mr Wilson from Dennis the menace
🤣🤔
You need to predrill that hardwood
I would have but unfortunately when the guys where building our houses the broke all the small drill bits I need to but some more.
Yes , that's what I do
Rose is right against the wall is more solid -- The holding is still gonna move.
Thank you, at last someone agrees with me.
Coco lumber is not your ordinary lumber. It is not easy to drill or nail it. My husband wasted a lot of drill bits and nails while working with coco lumber because its very dense on some spots and softer on some. And as long as it's not exposed to rain or sun it will last but is also a favorite wood for termites so treat it before using. Good team work.
Thanks for the tips!
Rose is correct. Always drill a pilot hole!
Yes I agree but I didn't know all the guys broke all my small drill bits when they where building our houses so I have to buy more.
Randy can you get Robinson head screws, Phillips screws suck when doing wood working.
Unfortunately no they don't have them here. They don't even have 3 inch deck screws here.
Measure twice cut once
Boss I don't understand. I cut it twice and it's still to short.
Sounds like me and the wife . When we work together😂
😂, Is that a good thing or bad thing?
@@AmericaManFilipinoWife Good we been married for 49yrs lol
Oh Wow, congratulations on the 49 years
Not sure why they don’t have a miter saw, because a miter is safer then using the table saw cutting the boards to length.
Yes but I don't have one yet, in the future I'll buy one.
Randy listen to your wife and put it on the floor brother! Wife knows best 😂😂
Thank you, we seemed to managed just fine
Please invest in a chop saw and dust collector.
I'm going to I only have so much money to work with at a time.
DEPENDING ON THE WEIGHT THAT TABLE MAY HAVE TO HOLD, YOU MIGHT WANT TO DOUBLE UP YOUR 4 "LEGS" WITH AN EXTRA 2 X 4 EACH.
Your pretty smart young lady you could be my assistant
Sure, 😂 Am I hired now? When do I start?
Guys, are you going to brace the legs?🇬🇧
Yes I'm going to be putting a shelf down below or should I say Rose is.🤔
you guys need a circular saw
I have a cordless one but the wood is to thick for it.
I KNOW IF THAT WERE PINE YOU COULD PULL THE BOW OUT WITH THE SCREWS, BUT IS THAT WOOD IS REAL HARD THAT MIGHT NOT EVEN WORK.
now i know why she wont wear glasses, seeing a mummy in a blur is better than seeing a mummy clearly! that's it! of course it would be degrading if a bag was placed over the friendly mummy's head and face... so blurry is good, duuh, idk why i didn't catch that a long time ago. being nearly 70, i wouldn't catch things as quickly as i did in my younger days.
Thank you
Another comment, be careful whith smoking while working with wood. Cigarette butt can start a fire!
Yes I'm careful with it.
She is right predrill then use screws be better then nails and yes I would of put a braces across the middle
Thank you someone agreed on me 😆
Honey Pie, your an accident waiting to happen!
I've been doing construction my entire life and I've never had a serious injury. Knock on wood.
Hello Super Gorgeous Rose 🌹, I never heard how you and Randy met. Where and how did Randy find someone as beautiful and Kind as you. Did you meet before or after he came to the Philippines? You know I am moving there, but I hope to find a companion as well. I would love to hear your story..... please.
Good question! Please hang on, I will try to bring up the link to that video, I believed we published a video on how we met.

The legs could be a lot stronger, to carry the weight. More so once the food arrives.
Legs on which table
Randy, can you please let your wife be complimented by you without undermining her effort to help and complete projects with you? She's a great apprentice.
Thank you
Can you tell me what area do you live in? I left a message on your other video. I am looking for someone as loving and caring as your wife, I am retiring and going to the Philippines
congratulations, We are in Biliran Island Philippines
Randy, you'll have to admit, Rose is a better carpenter than you. She is right, if you nail against a wall, the nailing will be easier. As for not having a small drill bit, you can cut the head off the nail and use it as a drill bit to drill at least half way to make it easier to drive the nail. Next time buy a set of bits to do work in the shop.
Yes and no because having to nail on the floor it's harder to hit the nail on the head square. When I went to get my drill bits I didn't know the guys had broken all the smaller wood bits when they where building our houses.
Great helper rose eh randy
That she is for sure. I think I put myself out of a hobby 🤣
Old men zoon die
10:14 Wow! I am impressed, Beautiful Rosemary nailed it on the head…A drilled through the wood makes for easier nails applications.🤔
Well done sexy, beautiful Rosemary.👌🏾
A handy standby drill makes the job easier and quicker too.🫶🏻🇬🇧
Thanks yes but I didn't have a bit small enough. They all got broken
