      SSLFamilyDad We need to add levels to our TT as well, buying and sticking them on is easy. How do you know you’re TT is level before affixing them?

      Use a regular level and hold below the bubble level when you stick it on

    Thank you! I just got a new-to-me popup camper and leveled it in my garage using the stabilizer jacks! Thankfully I'm only repairing the roof at this point and haven't opened the slide outs. I have seen the error of my ways and adding this to my newbie playlist!

    This is super handy. I’m hoping to actually go FT by the end of year. Haven’t settled on a rig yet. Idk if I want a class b, van, or one of those really light pull behind trailers. Definitely not a tear drop. Since gonna be FT I’d like to be able to stand up. But being female with disabilities I don’t want too big either. We’ll see. TFS. God Bless ~ Lisa

    Great job explaining why you don’t use stabilizers to level your camper. Most other vids say don’t do it but never explain why.
    Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way. Lol I tried to cheat a little and use my stabilizer jacks to level my travel trailer and my main entry door wouldn’t shut or the screen door & main door would separate when I opened it.
    Fortunately I learned my lesson before I damaged something. I guess I’m kinda smart like that. Ha yeah right

    Great video thanks so much! We went to lift our newly purchased rock wood pop up camper tonight for the first time and after 10 secs a loud “clunk” sound then again a few sec later. Then when bringing down it almost seemed to drop on its own a bit while making the same loud metal on metal sound. The manual said to put the stabilizers down first (although everywhere else we’ve seen say to put those down last) and we mistakenly raised one corner some to level using the stabilizer. Worried we broke the cable! Do you know if using the stabilizers to level could have caused this? Thanks a ton for any help!

    Thank you. I’ve got an older pop up and I’m always having trouble getting it leveled. I put some bubble levels on but it I didn’t use a regular level to start out with. Duh 🙄 lol. The door is always a problem getting it to work right. I was using the stabilizer jacks to help level it.

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  Před 5 lety +1

      I used to do the same thing with our old pop-up and it always messed up the door. Use boards under the tires and go light on the stabilizer jacks and you'll be good to go

    I have a pop up that I bought used and of course no “instruction manual”...I would love to know how to use the different systems. How does the hot water heater work, the water pump, gas systems, toilet, etc.??? A lot of videos out there assume a person already has some knowledge of this stuff!

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  Před 6 lety +1

      I would say shims under the wheels would be best. Pull in, figure out level then pull up on wood to level it out.

    I'm looking to level a trailer that isn't meant to move once it is in place. Is there anything different from what you showed here that I need to do for this effort? I'm looking forward to seeing the winterising video. Thank you.

  • @DKuzzin

    I bought a horse stall pad (Hard rubber with grooves) and cut it up into large squares/rectangles. They fit perfectly under tires, stabilizers and tongue jack. They will literally last forever. They stack and store nicely. Will not rot like wood. Will not crack like plastic. About an inch thick. ...best investment I ever made for my travel trailer.

    I bought a 1984 28 ft Fleetwood. Can you please please help me I've never had a camper so long. 1st my camper is behind a fence already so not hooked to truck. I'm going to live in it while fixing my home that was vandalized (plumbing and electric wires ripped out etc) when I put level across tounge it shoes level but put a level inside camper up front and it shows quite a bit unlevel. Does that mean the frame or floor has gotten twisted some how? Same is true for back of camper outside shows level inside not. Kind of a line in the world and could use some advice. I would appreciate it more than i can even say. I think i can see the ground is higher on one side than the other but??? I did not know you just level at wheels and tongue. It sits how i backed it into yard. Thinking I shouldn't of reset my fence posts so I could hook it back up. Thank you any advice would be amazing. God bless

    • @SSLFamilyDad

      One of the things that is effected by level is the refrigerator so I would be more concerned that the inside counter and fridge are level. It sounds like something on the frame is bent

    Haaaahaaaa, that old bubble still work? My levels was all long gone a long time ago. I guess them thar Prowlers are solid? I got one of them farm boy made Coachmen 28' jobs with 4 wheels. When I got it NEW in 2007, the tires were old then. I'm giving my travel trailer away this month to my daughter. This Coachman was a piece of junk. I got it all repaired and the daughter will have a used one. I told her to sell it. My brother has an old Prowler. It was better than mine. TEAGARDS...

    If I set up to level my slides leak. I go a bit up pitch so my a/c drains well and the water flows back and not in.

    Wow you hardly put any pressure on those stabilizing jacks... like none at all.. that things gotta rock all around the place. I get you don't lift the rig with them but you can put a little bit more pressure on them than that lmao
