if you gonna do the coke and mentos thing, try pouring the coke into the base first then crushing the unopened mentos packet, that way, by the time the reation happens the base should be sealed so the holes will be the only place for the coke to go.

90% of making these videos must be cleaning everything.
I still think they could use it to make a clay piece and then bake that so it becomes a negative of the tool.. then you could just (maybe recast it in something hard) and place it in the bottom and press the tool down onto it, as long as it's lined up.. it would clean all the holes at once

yep, need to use the mint mentos and diet soda. It needs to have the aspartame i believe.
It's all about the candy coating on the outside. The mint flavor has a slightly different coating that gives the c02 a nucleation site and thus creates tons of tiny places for bubbles to form and it foams up. The fruit flavor has a smoother coating that doesn't react at all with the cola.

the pasta dough one is basically how we make "Spätzle" in south germany. We use a small hand powered press and press the dough through holes directly into boiling water

Try it with smaller holes or without any holes at all and see what would come out.
