First attempt with the AX100 and Gates housing. We were in Raja during full moon and currents and surge were quite challenging at times. Visibility was not always great but I had plenty footage to select from :-)

Wow....!!! Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks
Very nice video. I have written you on the Wetpixel message board. I am going to Raja in October and will be filming with a Sony a7s II. I am having the same problem of blues going to magenta, and am trying to diagnose it. Hope to hear from you!
Many thanks for your kind comment. I looked into the A7sII as well. Verny nice camera but as I really only do Video I decided to go for the AX100 setup for a number of reasons (ergonomics, batterie life, shallow depth of field, wide angle and macro on same setup etc). Every camera has its 'specialities' if to comes to wide balance. Unfortunately I can't really help on the A7sII but there are people filming with it underwater with very nice results. If you search youtube or Vimeo you will surely find some clips and can contact those folks.
Enjoy Raja. its a fabulous place! We'll be doing the Alor/Banta/Ambon tour in October and hope to see the hammerheads that are supposed to be around there during that time of the year!
Thanks so much. I just saw this. I will keep you apprised of the progress and will be in touch!
Very nice video! I'm curious about how you white balanced your shots? The AX-100 tends to be "off" especially the blues (that go to purple). Did you make a camera adjustment before going in the water, or do color adjustment in post production?
+Bruce Carlson Thanks for your comment. Yes, the cam tends to purple and green cast on AWB. I did color Correction in post with FCPX. I read Pete L.'s suggestion to use a magenta filter instead of red filter but that advise came too late for that trip. I've now got a URPRO magenta filter and will try this out on my next trip to South Sulawesi later next month.
+bubffm Thanks for the reply and your comments on WB. I see we all have the same problem but Pete's suggestions sound good. I too will have to wait for my next trip to test them out. I would like to get "true" color when I'm shooting and not have to make significant adjustments in post. However, I did find that FCPX had some excellent tools for making adjustments (but I am still on a learning curve). Pete sent me a longer report of recommendations. Would you like a copy? If so, email me:
+Bruce Carlson mail send :-)
travelling now. Will send link when back home in a couple days
beautiful!
Thank you
At 11.50. You attach some kind of extra base adapter on top of your housing. May i know what is it?
I guess you mean the Screen Magnifyer from RGBlue (rgblue.jp). I am actually no longer using it. It is just too reflective and therefore of not much use. I'm getting used to the small 3.5inch screen of the camcorder :-)
bubffm i meant that thing on top of the housing which has some kind of lanyard attached to it.
Thats the connector for the screen magnifyer. Its original with hotshoe adapter but as the Gates housing does not have a hotshoe I slightly modified it and secured it with 3m tape and a lanyard.
bubffm that s nice DIY u made there!! Thanks a lot
