The title reminds me of an incident that happened when I was vacationing in Malta in 2016. Vehicles travel in the same direction as they do in England. As an American, I found it confusing. Anyway, as I was crossing a street, I looked left and saw nothing, so I slowly and casually took a step onto the street. Meanwhile, a bus whizzed by me to my right, just inches from my face. If I had taken a step a mere 5 seconds earlier, that bus would have plowed into me, and based on its speed I would have been struck like a bug on the windshield. Life is not just about the choices you make, but when you make them.

Well.... as Albert Einstein wrote, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
I think this heavily applies here, he was judged on the fact that his art was not good and he was broke. But he was successful in his own way, he had focus and dedication to something that he loved doing, and I think sometimes that's enough! Lived a life his own way and didn't hurt anyone, says a lot about our society and how we measure success if that wasn't enough. When even criminals are sometimes looked up to and labelled successful if they are able to obtain wealth and power.

He was only successful if his art made him happy. If he was miserable because he couldn't sell his paintings, then he was indeed a failure. Not hurting anyome doesn't make you successful. Success doesn't mean you have to be rich. Success, IMO, means that you're happy with your life and what you made of yourself. It could imply being super rich, but it could very well just mean you had a family, and raised kids you're proud of, or you pursued your passion that actually made you happy. If his art made him happy, then he was successful.
But if it made him miserable in every other part of his life, it's no different than an addiction.

You make a big deal about fame and fortune in this one. This video focused on all the externals: what other people think, how much success or money he had or didn't have, that outwardly, he appeared to be a failure. However, he did what he loved and did it until he died. We should all be so fortunate. When we follow our joy without regard to the outcome, it doesn't matter what timeline we are on.

I would argue that his motives for art was not internal but rather external. The video mentions multiple times that Frank found art to be an escape and comfort. It could be that he was a "failure" because art was the only thing he could use to avoid everyone who didn't believe in him and his low-paying job but because he lacked support from anyone, he became miserable and because he was miserable, his art suffered. A person needs support from multiple sources even if they have a career they love but they will still feel very much alone if they don't have that support. Frank was a product of his environment and in the main timeline, limited his opportunities because of his misfortune. It's easy to get into a hole and feel that no matter what you do, you can't get out. You often need someone to help you out of that hole before you realize you are even in it.

These positive-go-get-your-dream talks seem wise and feel good to hear. But often lack a greater truth to life: simplicity and change.
Life is change. And life is simple.
Any person on a unyielding quest for greatness can block themselves from both simplicity and change.
People should allow themselves to simple joys and change.
It's okay to admit your dreams and desires don't have the same flavor as they did when you were younger.
    It's okay to fail.
It's okay to seek a more simple life.

So I say " it's okay to fail", because the statement itself is a cure. It lessens the harsh expectations people have for themselves.
More people need to hear, it's okay to be normal.
I think it's a crime to feed false hope.

This video spoke to me so much. I started crying midway through this video just due to how much I related to Frank. Everything from art being my outlet from being ridiculed as a child, called a failure as an adult, constantly contemplating whether I should quit, the fear that I'll die before ever accomplishing my goals, even the smaller details. My father told me to my face that he doesn't know how he could raise such a failure and my mother makes me lie about my occupation whenever I'm around her acquaintances. After Frank died I wasn't expecting a hopeful ending but I got one anyways so thank you for that. I really appreciate this video. Sometimes you feel like your situation is so particular and you feel very alone then you realize their are many others who share and relate to your story. I'll keep trying and hopefully I don't have a swelling in my brain lol. Thats how a large amount of people do judge worth, though. It reminds me of something I read the other day: a person is smart, people are stupid - and i think it sort of applies, here. In a one on one, if you can tell your stories and experiences etc then most people will be able to find some good in you. But put 100 people in front of someone at once and itd be very unlikely that all of them would spontaneously decide they liked this one person. Doubts are amplified and can be spread between people with nothing more than a look.
And so it is. A world full of nice enough people that become nastier when in groups and its simultaneously everyone's fault and nobody's.

Man this video hit home especially towards the end I couldn't help but shed a tear.. Two good friends of mine passed away in a car accident a few weeks ago right before New Year's Eve. They had both invited me to go out with them about an hour before their accident, I'd always been down to hang with them regardless of the time but just so happened to knock out earlier than usual, I'd even missed a call/texts from them while I had been asleep. My heart hurt upon waking a few hours later to the news that both of them were gone. There's been a sense of guilt constantly lingering in the back of my mind that had I gone with them they'd still be alive in our current timeline. As someone who struggles with OCD, the rumination and what-ifs have been constantly eating at my core. There is no silver lining that can be found, the only thing I can tell myself to ease the mourning process is that in the timeline they've transitioned into, there will be no pain or suffering anymore, only peace.

This story isn’t too sad for many reasons:
1 - it shows that everything is possible if you work hard enough and take care of yourself
2 - success isn’t achieving your dream but it’s the constant progress towards one’s dream which means he was successful even tho he died
3 - unlike what the narrator said “he was an all-out man, he either gave anything he could or nothing” he isn’t, if he was he wouldn’t waste his time on alcohol which isn’t wrong but he could’ve invested that time in making some supportive friends which would’ve helped him against depression and would’ve made his dream sooner or later
And finally his life wasn’t this bad the narrator made it sound so tragic just for the purpose of this video, he must’ve had many happy moments

First story would be the fault of "the system". I mean if natural law wants the law of gravity to be followed 100% and everywhere, who gives the right to nature or life to make bets on us?
Life or nature can take bet against themselves and the fact It rewarded the poor man with tragedy shows its contempt for humans.
It never ever rewards the person who is falling against the gravity so why does it want to rule us by "chance."?

Frank instead drinks one more drink, this time, he feels so shitty he starts having auditory hallucinations. Later, he wakes up at home not remembering much, except for the hallucinations. He starts drawing what he heard visually as a way to understand it more. After submitting it into a local art museum someone with connections find it and is intrigued by the unique style and gets in touch woth Frank. A year layer, Frank is making much more than he could ever hope making art, and he's only going higher from here.
My point is, this video didn't really say anything at all. It's just a butterfly effect, no actual moral to the story, it didn't matter what he did. After watching this I don't feel any more knowledgeable. Going to the bar hypothetically could've saved his life and career.
