  • Diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumor known as a hemangioblastoma, Bridget sought treatment from the experts at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Middle schooler Bridget is an avid soccer player, but she and her family members noticed she was experiencing weakness, numbness and loss of coordination in her right leg. Pediatric neurosurgeon Mari Groves successfully removed the #SpinalCordTumor, and Bridget received rehabilitation at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. Bridget also had genetic testing at #JohnsHopkins due to a family history of spinal cord lesions. Bridget is now symptom-free and enjoying her active life.

Not everyone is that lucky, my gf was diagnosed backbone cancer in Malaysia. The cancer spread to her stomach and then back neck near the brain area. She has removed both spread cancers and now still fighting the backbone cancer. She vomited everything she ate and drank with blood daily for almost 6 months. She is the strongest woman I have ever met (I am not exaggerate) and she is just in her early 30s. Worst is she is an orphan and previously was physically abused by her ex. I just wish God has mercy at least let her make it even if she needs to walk with the help of cane or something its ok. Just wish she can make it.

Spinal tumor left me unable to walk,Or feel hot or cold.Had emergency surgery in April. Told in 6 months to a year I’d be somewhat back to normal started standing and walking 6 to 8 weeks after Not completely walking without assistant of cane or walker and sometimes long trips with a wheelchair because of pain. I do walk 5000 to 10000 steps a day with the cane. Stay positive and stay strong.

She was diagnosed with an intramedullary spinal hemangioma that was from T2-T5. If there is any support group or way I could connect with other parents who have been through this it would be very helpful.
