      It’s rare for sure. We’ve put extra measures into place to ensure it never happens again

    What are those coils used for? What’s the advantage of the 8 tire wide trailers? What do you call those type of trailers?

    • @TimelapseTruckerRTOT
      @TimelapseTruckerRTOT  Před rokem +1

      We call the wheelers. And need this many wheels to carry the weight legally. And added stability rocking down the road

    Wait till you got to do brakes or wheel hubs were bearings on one of the multi axle trailer things when I work for Esign They were a pain in the ass to work on practically had a flip the trailer upside down to work on them

      i only ever have to re torque once in awhile. i dont pull em apart. but i feel for anyone that has to, i used to see the guys in the shop do cvips and wondered why they like their jobs, but just like any job there's shitty jobs and great jobs

    I see in this video your driving a Pete. I'm on the fence as to buying a new (2020 or 2021) 367 high hood basically the same spec as the one in your video minus the winch rig up (using it to float construction and forestry machinery) Or trying to find an older one (pre 2007) and rebuild it all. I know these trucks get the shit beat out of them so finding a nice used one won't be easy. I won't be abusing mine so if I bought new I'd make it last a long time. So in your opinion what option do you think would be better? I'm also worried that in the near future Canada and the US will further tighten emissions laws and ban old trucks forcing us to buy new ones anyway? Any thoughts? Thanks, Safe travels bud.

      well so far owning new seems to be problematic. the pete i was driving was great as long as the road was great. the kenworth rides way better on rough terrain with way less cab squeaks. i always thought pete was the ultimate pavement truck but so far the kenworth rides much better all around. if your getting a big sleeper kenworth has it beat there too. way more room and about the same storage but kw is bigger. another thing i hated about the pete was two different sized fuel tanks which you always had to get down to a quarter before it would start taking out of the opposite tank, i guess if you can buy new you can spec it so there the same.i hate the pete windows,wipers.cab is a bit smaller but no big deal. the pete was a good solid truck never let me down but i only drove it for the summer on a lot of week voyages.dash seems dated and it still had williams control for a gas pedal. i know not everyone loves the new pedal that kw got but i do. the pete had more foot room and a flat floor. and the upper dash was closer to you for reaching purposes i never had to lean forward to toggle a switch. im 6.4 tall so the seat is far back as possible. in the kw i had to slightly lean forward to hit the cruise and any diff locks. yet again not a huge thing but if your going to drive these things you pick up on as ergonomics of driving.
      kw has a curved floor and i do miss that extra couple inches for long travel days to straighten my legs. now if your getting new we all love our outside storage say under the sleeper and other tool boxes. the pete has horrible storage for that. the bunk heater takes up most of it with vent plumbing. the kw does not. especially if your getting 62 or is it 72 inch bunk kw has tons of storage, kw bunks have side windows i think standard where pete it seem more rare but i have seen them but not as big or nice. both trucks are good trucks basically have the same components paccar. i like the fit n finish of a kw over the pete. if i could id get a glider 2007 and under w900 or t800b high hood, c500 if you can. 3406E cat but thirsty on fuel. c15 single turbo is a good one too. id try my hardest to not get a cummins tho they are great on fuel but always breaking. the fist get isx is a pretty solid engine i keep hearing, even a n14 is still great. our mechanic came from cummins and he told me tons of stories about how much repairs are needed and regular check ups for valves. seemed like a pain to own new, and if you think its just the way guys treat them well i had a brand new at roadtrain cummins c500 love the truck the motor was good while it was good i did everything in my power to keep it running good, we did full service every 200 hr and i didnt make 200,000 kms before def filter issues, got it cleaned, made it another 40,000 and had more issues. deleted it and made it another 60,000 dropped a linear coolant in the fuel. i treated that truck like it was my own and i'm very anal about my cars even the 30 year old ones. good luck

      @@TimelapseTruckerRTOT Thanks for your advice. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. You made a lot of really good points to consider. It's pretty hard if not impossible to find a glider anymore. I guess maybe picking up an older truck might be the better option. I know of a decent 07 pete with a twin cat motor. I know it's not an e model but probably better then a cummins by the sounds of it. Keep the videos coming. Take care.

      i had a 2003 t800 c15 twin at roadtrain. it was a pretty solid truck. i think i only had one injector go but it was around 7xx,xxx kms i drove it for 4 years with no issues

    Why do you call it wheelin'? Do all the wheels and tires weigh more than the tractor itself?

    • @TimelapseTruckerRTOT
      @TimelapseTruckerRTOT  Před 3 lety +1

      no the tires don't weigh more then the tractor, we call it wheeling due to the amount of wheels under the load. normally its just tandem truck tri trailer or tri truck tri trailer. its commonly referred to as a wheeler in alberta oilpatch
