My kids loved this traditional variant of the idly .The tempering gave a fantastic flavour .I have cooked them in glasses with out any leaves and they came out really well .It was a great way to show with different sized tumblers.
That gave me confidence to try the glasses I have and it worked so well .
So very home like as always ♥️
Thank you so much Gita mami 🙏🏽

    Amma Namaskaramu,
Nice simple steps and an elegant method to cook. Even though I never cooked, I gave it a try thanks to your motivating explanation. The idly came up very well and my folks are wondering how I could reproduce what we ate in Kanchipuram.
Many thanks and we wish that you come up with many more such recipes so that lay men like me can give it a try. I am sure next generation will also benefit from the vast wisdom of Indian traditional cooking.

I didn't realize that idli could be steamed in a larger container like this! Wow! I love idli and have wanted to learn how to make them, but I didn't want to invest in a special steamer for them. I have a small kitchen and not a lot of storage. This is a wonderful recipe and I have plenty of small canning jars that would be perfect for steaming idli in. I am so happy to learn this! Thank you so much!

Hi gita ji, I really got attracted to your videos and way of teaching instantly. And every recipe you show makes it look so simple. Gives us a lot of confidence. yesterday my wife wanted to try this recipe, but then we had a doubt. You had mentioned about soaking the urad dal for four hours, also whether you soaked the idli rava too wasn't clear. Do we have to soak the idli rava for 4 hours too?
