@@tophatjoe1677 they cut back on the rate of fire I believe for fewer barrel changes and overall longer service life. The real MG42s and mg34s sounds so damn fast compared to the new stuff.
@@bryanmartinez6600 Plus the standard German WW2 8x57 cartridge had about 3000ft/lb of muzzle energy whereas 7.62x51 has ~2600ft/lb depending on the specific weapon. Higher rate of fire *and* more powerful.

My uncle who is a seal once told me that a belt fed weapon can be accurate. If you only need a few rounds it's fairly accurate. But when shit hits the fan it's what you use to ensure you don't get shot while you set up the accurate shot.

trench shotguns are terrifying if you are in a trench though, because they wound a bunch of people. You can wear a gas mask for the gas. It's pretty hard to armor your left ringfinger from 1 out of 50 projectiles coming towards your face and the 7 guys next to you

I’ve shot a real gun before, full auto is very good in urban close quarters combat, group suppression, and it is also very versatile. If you really do hate full auto then in most carbines, Smgs, PDWs, Assault rifles, and Machined pistols will come with a switch to convert to semi auto. Correct me if I’m wrong still new to the shooting community.
According to his bio he served as a Navy Corpsman with the 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, and has a degree in film production and screenwriting. You would think he'd have learned why automatic weapons are necessary on a battlefield. I'm former Navy myself and even I understand this necessity.
That was one of the biggest reasons the MG42 was so effective. The noice struck terror in those it was aimed at. It had a very distinct noice, and was said to fire so fast it could cut down a tree(it could, and so could every other fully weapon technically) it became known as Hitlers Buzzsaw. 1,300rpm.

There is an old military article, that I can't find for the life of me, about troops who overran an enemy position and picked up the enemies full auto weapons. The interesting thing was that both sides had same weapon, I believe the FMAS, but one was burst and the other full auto. So the side that over ran the position due to superior numbers started using the full auto version of the weapon that they considered to be better. However, once they started using it they began to lose the fight. It had nothing to do with the weapon itself, they weren't trained on how a full auto weapon handles and there for were not effective with it.
