I was working overnights at a convenience store in the Texas Hill Country. One night two guys come in. One is tall with a beat up cowboy hat and a leather patch over his left eye. Cowboy dress shirt, clean jeans and old boots. His friend wore a hat with "Stunt Mans Association Retired" embroidered on the front. Nice Polo shirt and slacks. I asked the second man about his hat. "How do you get a hat like that?". "Easy. You break a lot of bones". That man was Bill Hart. He's one of the body guards on the boat going through Downtown San Antonio.with Steve McQueen and corrupt business man. Saw him once in awhile for years. He started out as a rodeo competitor. He was offered a steady job in Hollywood. Did movies and TV for many years.

McQueen was brillant actor. Check out "The Magnificent Seven" He carried the ball in that movie even surpassed Yul Brenner. McQueen was brillant in "Pappion" and "The Great Escape", he started in "Wanted Dead Or Alive" he was fast, and had the confidence even then. He had the same charisma that Elvis had. He was beautiful inside and out. A giant on the screen. ❤

To lindadeisher1815 may I recommend Ralph Nelson's Soldier in the Rain (1963) with Jackie Gleason,Don Siegel's Hell is for Heroes (1962), Robert Mulligan's Love with the Proper Stranger(1964) with Natalie Wood, Robert Mulligan's Baby the Rain Must Fall(1965) with Lee Remick, Norman Jewison's The Cincinnati Kid (1965), Sam Peckinpah's Junior Bonner (1972), Mark Rydell's The Rievers (1969), Henry Hathaway's Nevada Smith (1966) and imho Steve's best role Robert Wise's The Sand Pebbles (1966) for which Steve got his only Oscar nomination. Fun fact; 20th Century Fox wanted McQueen for the Sundance Kid but he refused to take second billing to Paul Newman. The part was then offered to Warren Beatty who turned it down and then to some guy named Robert "somethingorother" who jumped on it.

Did you see the coat the guy was wearing when Steve shot him? It was warm weather it looked like! It concealed a bullet proof vest from the day! Same actor as was in the Bronson movie "Mr Majestic"! I think they used real bullets to make the scene appear to be real when the bullets hit the vest!
