    I have to stop and clean/reorganize very frequently! My brain just gets overwhelmed and agitated w/ disorder! That's so awesome about finding the pictures of ur childhood builds!! I wish I had any pictures of my childhood builds. I did not know anyone printed old-school-style pictures anymore!! lol I just ordered that Chevy gasser engine (& some other parts). It will go in the gasser that will be towed by the '60 Chevy pickup that I'm having u upsize tires/wheels for.

    The engine in the '39 kit is the same one that appears in the Mngm '66 Malibu kit. I value the same type of memories as well, still having pieces\parts of old builds and\or photos, and rediscovering them. Good times, lol.

    There are websites that have conversion calculators on them. Some have where you can go from full size down to any scale or from 1 scale to another.

    While it's far from an exact science, I've resorted to measuring kit pieces as reference. I'll break out the calipers and measure valve covers or the oil pan of a corresponding component, and scale the 3d model in my slicer as needed. Again, while it might not be perfect, it has helped to get new powerplants all comfortable in their new homes!

    Love that color you chose.👏👏👏. I give a shout out to MCW on my current build. I shot bright anodized aluminum ME8000E on the mufflers. Compared it to soda can aluminum 😮. They nailed it. Thanks again Matt for introducing MCW. 👍. Ok, carry on.
    Try putting the engine in the freezer. Sometimes that works for removing glued parts.

    Hey Mattew , you've got a couple options for your blower base repair , you could cut or saw the front portion off of the blower base off and move it to the rear or if the top of the blower has 2 holes bored in it , use a paint brush and put a couple dabs of Bob Smith's debonder inside and it'll likely separate. Good luck .

    If it's designed in 1/24 scale it down to 96% to get 1/25. If it is designed for 1/10 then print at 41% for 1/24 or 40% for 1/25

    The older you get, the more nostalgic you become. It's easy to get excited finding stuff like that. I didn't build a whole lot of plastic models as a kid. Most of them were aircraft and at some point I used to blow them up with firecrackers! Trying to replicate movie explosions. Lol! Somewhere I have a couple photos of the last model I built in 88/89 of a 70 Nova SS, before I graduated High School and went into the USAF. I didn't build another plastic model again until 2005! For the love of God, man! Please purchase a new camera! 😂 Peace and love.

    Clean, organized work area, What's that? The last time my work bench was clean, was when I was rearranging the area. That was over a Year ago. My poster collection is much hotter than the one of fonda. I have been drawing female figures since I was 9 years old. It would be nice to see some prints of those old photos. Fond memories, definitely.

    Great video. Other commenters have given you the information to convert your printed parts to the scale you want, so I’m not going to do that. But you way want to take the size of the actual 1:1 scale part to get you parts down to 1:24 or 1:25 scale. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Matthew, I wouldn't sweat the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 scales. Two feet in 1/24 is only 0.04 of an inch longer in real life than two feet in 1/24. I challenge anyone to see a 0.04 inch difference even close up. I have a sneaky suspicion that resin Chevy engine isn't totally accurate. As for chaos, I thrive in it 🙂The only time my workbench is clear is between builds. Cool that you came across those old photos!

  • @donstevenson2660

    Or, use the Monogram block, which will be hidden by those fat fenders, and print some nice intakes and valve covers to fit.

  • @edwardhood6252
    @edwardhood6252 Před 5 měsíci

    My biggest complaint about resin 3d print engines is that they don't have starters and that makes me have to scratch build starters for them.

    The 3D scaling has always been all of the map from what I've come across. I've been told by a couple that they basically scale at 1/24.5 so it's an in-between compromise that works but also is never right. (I think that was Iceman but not 100%), Texas 3D states all his is 1/24, which I find odd because it's all American car stuff when majority of US cars in model form are 1/25. So I would think you scale for the majority if anything but not my business to say. And then like you said some just make it scale to itself but not to any specific scale and have received some oddly small ones that were advertised at 1/25.
    4% is the scale difference so if you have a 1/25 file, printing at 104% would be 1/24 if everything is uniformly scaled. Or the vice-versa would obviously be at 96%.
    The 39 looks good in red, makes me want to bust out the 37 project I have to do (Stone, Woods& Cook) Doug Cooks candy red 37 coupe.

    I think your 3d prints are in between I find the carbs are a bit too large for stock 4 barrels . The bigger ones are fine because they are huge anyway. To be honest the kits are not consistent. I find the small block engines in 1/24 scale kits to sometimes be too large .and some of the smaller parts are too small even for 1/25. The Monogram 56 Thunderbird is all over the place in this matter. A nice overall kit but I have problems with scale accuracy. We either smile and build it or get obsessed with these things. Unfortunately I tend to waste time on this stuff 😅

    If you didn't design it you shouldn't be selling it

    • @13Dixiefried
      @13Dixiefried Před 5 měsíci

      A lot of things are made and sold by people who didn’t design it themselves. Now he could have permission from the designer to sell their work especially if the designer doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of shipping them out.
