- In this video, I see how quickly I can set up an edge of breakup tone just using the Boss GX-100.
Fusing advanced BOSS tone technologies into a sleek, ultra-modern hardware design, the inspiring GX-100 delivers top-level performance everywhere you play. Explore 23 AIRD amplifiers and over 150 effects derived from the flagship GT-1000, and craft great sounds in seconds with the intuitive color touch display. The value I get from your wisdom each week is priceless. Thank you for sharing incredible tone and your wisdom.
Nice! Fundamental tone and a good tutorial for us GX-100 owners
The tone you got is unreal 🎉
Unreally real?
You are amazing!! Many thanks for share with us this awesome way to create this great tone. Thanks a lot!!
Paul, Thanks for taking the time to help us by showing us how you build tones!!
Anytime
Love that sound! Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Keep them coming!
Awesome tutorial, thanks Paul
Briliant, as always!!
Hi Paul, just loaded up this tone into my GX 100 and loving it! Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.
Well done Paul.....as was your PEQ video. Quite helpful for us GX-100 users. As a fan of AC30/Matchless/Bad Cat, I made a patch of dual Match Combos, driven with some compression and just touch of studio reverb. I'm blown away at how clean it sounds with my Strat neck pup but goes into Plexi mode when I shift to the JB. The GX is pretty amazing!
god - I love this channel!
Absolutely fantastic tutorial! Thanks!
Some very decent sounds in the Boss gear at the moment - nice tones Paul!
Thanks for another very helpful video!
This is amazing! very informative
Great preset. I will be dialing in that myself. Thank you ❤
I am loving this GX series.
Great stuff!
That sounds really great. I've been focusing on higher gain tones, as that's what's called for in my band. But I'm definitely going to dial this sound in as well. Cheers!
Man your intro is gorgeous
Dude I got this. It changed my world with my guitar
That's a really good tone Paul.
Cheers Glenn.
I search for years, with ALL Neural dsp vst, bias fx, guitar rig etc etc to have THIS TONE, i have my GX-100 for 5days and you give me that fabulous tone...with all explained
Thank you so much !
Enjoy
I love your red strato 😊👍🏻 glassy mid tone
GX-100 + BOSS Katana 50 mkII = LITERALLY anything you can imagine, live or studio.
Same combination here! More than enough!
I love this channel. ♥️
You explain things really well Paul. Thank you kind sir.
I need one of these. I've been watching loads of demos for all kinds of these units in this price range and I can find anything that would beat the boss really. Of course I've not played them. Just listened, but that tone is just killer. ♥️🤘
Do you have a video that explains this until? I will search sir.
Regards from the heartland. Indiana USA.
Tim. ♥️🤘♥️
Brilliant, thank you - this was all I needed to know before ordering the GX-100 to replace my Pod Go.
If a modeller can do this sound then it can do everything, the edge of breakup is the hardest sound to do for all of them.
How did u find it Compared to podgo? I struggled with the gx in store to not make it sound digital.
@@swardmusic to he honest I prefer my tube amps but the GX100 sounds just as good as the Pod Go to my ears but you need some time to dial in what you like. I spent a month on both of them before going "okay, that'll do" 🙂
That sounds wonderful. Any thoughts on which built in overdrives sound best and would compliment that tone?
I use this and an Epiphone ES335 , added a tremolo,sounds like 007
I’d not worry about keeping it under Five minutes; it might come across as truncated and rushed. Seems like 10 minutes is the sweet spot, but don’t focus on the feedback noise in comments section. Do your best to make the quality content you’re proud of and the people will respond. You build it; they’ll come.
I’m digging these in-depth explorations of tone-shaping on the 100. Thank you, Paul.
I might not be the first to ask, but I’ll act as though I am. Can you explain the relic look on your Stratocaster?
Good day sir. Can kindly help us how to set the expression volume pedal for gx-100. Great tone. Greetings from Singapore.
Hey Paul! Any chance you could re-visit this pedal and show how to get it sounding good with an amplifier. 4 cable method and straight in? Using it for recording it sounds great but I'm having a hard time getting it to sound warm using amps. It sounds real trebly.
Paul, how would you personally connect the gx100 to the Katana Mark 2 head? Please explain in layman's terms because I hate tinkering with things like effects and cables. I need to find a method that is simple and works. I personally don't wanna be turning speaker emulation on and off all the time. Life was much simpler for guitarists before amp modelling came along! BTW, I bought the studio rat patches package for the gx100 and love them. Thanks for putting the time in to make them.
nice sound, would you be so kind as to tell me how you connect the output to stereo sound just like left and right??
I am interested in the GX-100 for home recording. I have princeton, but even that 10 watt appen feels like to much power for my tiny apartment.
Hello is this unit any good as a standalone effects/pedalboard unit . I mean plug it in front of an amp only using the od's , reverb/delay's & the modulation effects ?
Hi Paul, what speakers are you using? Could you suggest some studio speakers for home practice with the gx-100? Thanx for sharing your knowledge!
Can i ask which is more realistic tone. Gx100 or the tone x . As feel and sound in your hands aspect. Love to hear your taughts on this. Cheers.
I think can “inialise” a patch to clear it in one activity?
I've done this exactly the way you showed in your video and tye expression pedal won't work as a volume control, ,I have dragged it into tye patch but it does nothing , can you point me in the right direction with a link possibly to get tye pedal working please
"Attention span of a fetus" ROFLMAO That was priceless! GREAT tones, no doubt. LOVE BOSS!
Hey Paul: Question please, on my GX-100 Input settings when using various guitars (Les Paul, MM Cutlass, Ibanez etc... I notice in order for the input signal to reach yellow so I can back it down a bit the input sensitivity for all these guitars have to set to over 12dB. Just wondering if something is not right with with my unit?
Get in touch with Boss tech support, I’m sure they can help.
I thought edge of breakup really referred to a crunchy sound when increasing volume or picking harder…is that what happens on this setting?
I'm going to try that on my GT-1000. It has all those same amps and effects, so I should get pretty close. That's my most desired tone....slight breakup. I can get shimmering cleans and face melting distortions whenever I want, but I want something in between. Thank you.
Any time Jeff, let me know how you get on.
@@TheStudioRats I'm going to wait until my live gig on Saturday, but it sounded pretty close to what I wanted when I played it through studio monitors. I don't have a way to change mic type, but I matched everything else.
@@TheStudioRats it worked pretty dam good. I used it tonight and that is one of the tones I've been trying to get for years. Yes! Thank you!
That TONE!! mate what if we’re using just one amp to amplify it. ?
You can do that although it’s better in stereo
How was the "Mix" setting? L/R or Stereo? I believe its stereo, right?
can any1 please guide me on which pickups he is using???
It’s a master build custom shop. Hold on. Ok so he has a video on it. I didn’t mind watching it again. I love that red strat. Those pick ups are Fat 50 Josefina Campos pick ups. She took over when Abby who used to be the most famous pick up winder
retired and Abigail showed Josefina how to do it.
Man!!!! You're Awsome!!! You should made those presets for selling🙏🙏🙏🙏😥 please????
Cheers, they are
@@TheStudioRats Really? Great!!! Where???🙏
I've read that fetuses actually pay more attention to what's going on around them than we give them credit for. I paid attention to this great video and I don't even have a boss gx
Minute 7:00 is this preset on the pack #1????🙏
Yes, a tweaked version of it.
@@TheStudioRats thanks man!!! Please "the Landau chorus" on the next pack🙏🙏🙏
Great video. Love the attention span of a fetus comment. LOL
