As a bartender and a woman, I love it when men order whatever they want without worrying about what the person at the next bar stool is thinking about them. I’ve had so many men ask me to leave off the garnishes, so it looks less “girly.” It makes me sad that they feel the need to do this.
Same - I worked as a bar manager/tender for most of my 20’s & early 30’s & I often heard the same. I’m honestly bummed out to hear it still carries the same stigma.
My boyfriend usually drinks cocktails whevener we go out, he has a very childish palate. People make funny faces when this bearded lumberjack sits at the table with a very colorful drink in a tall glass and a beer, then hands me the beer and proceeds to sip from his drink.

"Dad, How Do I?" is such a great idea for a channel. It's a catalog for things that your dad probably taught you growing up for people with absent fathers. Such a simple yet so wholesome channel.

3:10 I am a teenage trans man who came out when I was ten. My dad has been a major part of my life for all of it. The amount of joy I felt when he taught me how to toe a tie was immense. It is amazing that someone decided to fill that void in so many people’s lives.
As a cis woman, I learned to tie a tie in school. But my son had to visit his grandmother when he knew she was going out for a few hours so he could experiment with makeup - I don't own any.
The “Dad How Do I?” channel is a godsend for transmen and he’s HUGE in the FTM community. As you can imagine the overwhelming majority of transmen were socialized as females and were not taught things a father might teach his son so this channel helps transmen “catch up”, socially speaking, and move their transition along. It’s also a great channel for young women who want to be more self-sufficient but we’re not taught things like how to change a tire, et cetera, due to being female. This man is a legend and I’m so grateful for his channel, myself being transmasc.

I'm a girl by birth and I'm not trans but I am genderfluid so I subscribed to that guy. My parents support me, but my mom is handier than my dad and is not in good shape to teach me how to do stuff, and also idk if my dad can even tie a neck tie or bow tie. So, not only is that guys channel a godsend for trans men, he's a godsend for genderfluid people.

12:39 there's actually a specific hand sign used in metal/rock shows to indicate to the band that someone in the crowd is in distress. You raise your hands above your head and cross your arms to make an x. People around you will see it and copy it and it spreads through the crowd. The mosh pit will shut down when that hand sign is seen, and the band will stop playing until the situation is resolved.
That is genius. Respect for metal bands, man. I need to go to a concert someday.

The gigs I've been to, most people will stop to help the person who is struggling. Even at a Cannibal Corpse gig a guy had to tie this laces and those of us nearby formed a wall around him to stop the pit from going into him.
@@skyrat3816 yeah, it's a thing at larger shows, esp. festivals but it's only for major injuries or needing to get someone out of the crowd ASAP. Even then, the people next to them will help & form a wall to protect them and the people nearby but not close enough to help will sign. Someone down in the mosh pit, or needing to tie laces like you mentioned generally won't trigger it. Smaller shows I've never seen it happen, I think, just because it's easier to see and everyone's more aware it's not really needed.

I get this. I lost my best friend of over 15 years and my sister because they threw me out of a vacation that I helped pay for 3 hours before my birthday... all over a verbal argument my sister and I got into. Did my sister get thrown? No. Just me. My sister hasn't said a word to me and my ex best friend texted me 5 months later like "hey, haven't heard from you" like nothing happened.

Yup, that or it's one of those situations where things about a friend grate on you but you never want to cause trouble by addressing it - or you want to, but there's just no real communication happening - and then one day everybody gets angry and it all bursts out.
I feel like maybe women are more prone to that because of that dang 'be nice, avoid confrontation' upbringing.
@Julia-lk8jn honestly, it was just a stupid, bickering sort of argument that escalated to getting louder. Looking back, I accept that there are a lot of ways I could've de-esculated it (as could she, we're both adults), but after laying all of it out to a friend who knows all of us, they were the ones to point out how much they scapegoated me in the whole situation (not even kidding, my shoe broke, I tripped because of that, and accidentally knocked into my sister's husband... again, because of broken shoe... they acted like I purposely attacked him despite me showing them my broken shoe). I accepted that kind of treatment from my blood relatives for years. I'm not accepting that from that so-called family and I won't accept it from friends. It still hurts, but I've realized that after almost a year, them being completely radio silent after that shows me where I am valued to them. Took my cue from there.

My whole friend group almost blew up because of something like that last year... managed to fix it, but I feel like some of the cracks are opening back up... saying that one person who got the core of our group agitated as hell is still getting on our nerves and is too tone-deaf to notice and too immediately defensive once someone tries addressing the issue... not even their partner dares to try anymore... Sometimes, it feels like sitting on a ticking time bomb.

Click is a professional entertainer. EVERYONE you see on media is using makeup, careful lighting, whitened teeth, everything they can think of to keep themselves economically viable. I have the theory that people that listen to metal music etc. Get a lot of the more negative emotions out via the music so they aren't as pent up which makes them nicer/happier people on average

But people who indulge in "negative" emotions to vent in a healthy manner can often be surprisingly chill outside their special interests.

Get yourself a can of coke, irn-bru, whatever mixer you enjoy, get a double of whisky (50Ml+ most places) and you have yourself a cheap but still alcoholic drink that'll taste good and get you drunk while not burning a hole in your wallet.
@@lyntonfleming whisky and cokes are usually around 9€ here, a beer may be 4-5€. Most of the time I just buy beers from the store (about 1.2€/0.33l) or a bottle of 40% vodka (about 15€/0.5l) and drink them either alone or with friends. Bars are too damn expensive.

I ran cross country as a cis female and even I needed male deodorant at the time. It was 2006 and no women's deodorant lasted a practice or race, axe and degree dry were the best that I found at the time.
Now I can wear women's deodorant and it doesn't fade away within an hour which is awesome. Women's deodorant has come a long way actually. We should be thankful that when we sweat, we don't have to stink.

Rockers and metal groups are amazing when it comes to situations. Bands will straight up stop playing if there is a medical emergency or if one of them notices harassment going on. Crowds will lift people up (one story I heard there was a child who got separated from his mom and they were helping her spot him, the other a guy in a wheelchair couldn't see so a group lifted him into the air), throw hands if harassment is going on, and will escort someone out having issues.
Metal and rock seem like they would have a bad rap, but honestly, I would feel safe at a concert. I have heard so many stories of heartwarmth and badassery.

For the “girly drink” phenomenon, my assumption was always that masculinity is measured through suffering. Refusing a jacket when it’s cold out, refusing to use an umbrella when it’s raining, holding in one’s emotions unless it’s anger which can be destructive or push suffering into others, desserts and drinks and other good-tasting things are all things guys will bully each other over. It’s all about “toughing it out”, when there’s no need to and when no one is asking you to. It’s sad, really. You guys should enjoy yourselves and enjoy life, especially when it is at nobody’s expense. Drink the margarita.

When I discovered Dad, How Do I? I was amazed and on the verge of tears because I know how it is to have parents that berate you and put you down for asking "stupid" questions. There is another man on TikTok who does something similar: he just shares his meals with his "kids" and does videos like this to just help out. And it is damned amazing because some of us didn't even get to share meals with our parents or guardians. Makes me tear up, honestly. Does wonders for the psychology of individuals.

The grandma grave jokes reminded me of a time when I went to a bar trivia night with a friend from massage school and one of the questions was on anatomy. Yeah, that kinda lines up with my experiences elsewhere - the more dangerous/unusual the thing you're doing is, the nicer the people will be about it, because doing it properly is so much more important (I know this doesn't always apply, but still).
Metal, Punk, Rock, etc. always just have really wholesome communities. Everyone is always looking out for each other, it's really nice, you just get to share the experience and enjoy the music without having to worry. The musicians themselves are also always really great people, you look at interviews with a lot of metal singers and they look powerful on stage but then you get to see them outside of that and they're just these little nice people who are just happy to make it in the world. It's all very wholesome, one of the reasons why I love metal culture.

I'm a uni student who drives transit buses for our bus garage part-time and the people who work there are some of the nicest people I have ever met. It's a high-stress environment due to terrible drivers (yay Massachusetts) and equally terrible weather conditions in the winter (yay Massachusetts, again) but my trainers, ROs (radio operators, they make sure operations run smoothly behind the scenes) and fellow bus drivers are all people who take their jobs and safety really seriously but themselves less so. It's honestly the least toxic work environment I could imagine and I'm happy I ended up working there instead of working retail or in one of the dining halls. The connection between kindness and danger/nicheness never really clicked until now.
I think I read a story years ago where a guy groped a random girl during a concert, and the metalhead guys around him beat the guy up to defend her.
The Trivium concert I saw in California last month was the safest I've felt in the USA outside of my hotel room. The metal community is a family that protects their own - and Matt Heafy will stop the concert the second something is off because he wants people safe and having fun.

I called my internet service provider when I missed a call from them (there was a technician coming in to install my router) and I was put on hold for about a half hour. Wouldn't have been so bad if the hold music wasn't interrupted every 5 minutes with ads or "keep holding or add yourself to our call queue" messages that were recorded my a VA so I had a mini heart attack every time one started. :)
At least with hold music you can put your phone on speaker and zone out for a bit while you do other things. When it pops up every few minutes with a message, I get so annoyed thinking they're answering the phone x-x

So the message interruption started with an actual person's voice saying "Thank you for holding, we will be with you shortly". And the starting line when someone actually picks up the phone? *"Thank you for holding, my name is blah blah blah"* 🤬 So every 90 freaking seconds you think someone is answering. Important thing about your "does he even need the cane" comment for the legendary dancing dude, a lot of cane users don't strictly "need" them but they help if they have weak joints or they get worn out super quickly. Same applies to wheelchair users (including the electric wheelchairs in grocery stores). Some of them can stand up, they're called ambulatory wheelchair users, but that doesn't mean they don't need it to get around effectively

I have a friend whose father used to not let them get a cane because they can walk and apparently don't need it... but in actuality they're in constant amount of pain and can barely move. Thankfully they have a cane now, maybe cause they were finally brought to the doctor (the father also refused to bring them to the doctor before) and was diagnosed
About the “if it takes five minutes or less, do it immediately” thing: i’ve heard an anecdote about this one from someone with ADHD, and they said that following this advice actually caused them to procrastinate on bigger, more important things. It might be more ADHD specific, but if you’re working on something already or need to get started on that bigger task, don’t stop to do the small thing that sounds easier unless its time sensitive. Better to start the larger task than spend 30 minutes doing several shorter tasks. 💅
As a fellow ADHD, I think always following the advice would do that, yeah. It’s very good advice and would help me procrastinate less but only if I set my brain to two modes, regular mode and “big task focus” mode. Only follow the advice in regular mode and then I think it’d be great

I went to one of their concerts a few years ago. Huge fan of their stuff. A fire broke out and they stopped the show to wait for it to be put out. Then shit kicked off again harder than before!
The metal scene is honestly so wholesome at the shows. The people look out for each other, the artists often stop if they see someone having trouble in the audience. It's awesome.
Also, I flip a coin for way too many choices. But it works. Like if you're genuine indecisive, then you're fine either way. If you're made to choose and you don't like that choice then you'll be able to tell and then just choose which you want. It's great

this has happened at every rock show i have been to, it's just the decent thing to do and i am sad that every artist doesn't do this. a weird thing happens in the center of crowds where the oxygen goes down because of all the people breathing in an enclosed space so smaller people or those with breathing difficulties tend to faint when in the middle of crowds, also the lights can trigger siezure disorders and of course getting squished can make you pass out. i have had all these things happen at shows and i have had artists call out gropers in the crowd and tell them to gtfo. Rock and Metal shows are wholesome AF.

Since that species (Hermann's) has a dark shell, they attack dark objects that are around the same size as themselves. The online scene for women and men are pretty messed up. Before I started transition, I had a dating profile as a man. I would contact hundreds of women. I would get maybe 1 or 2 responses, always scammers. The moment I started social transition, I updated my FB profile pic. Within an hour I got a couple "hey sexy" messages from random guys, some in foreign languages. Some of them would send me 20 messages in a row demanding that I respond immediately. This continues EVERY DAY until I change my privacy settings so you can't contact me unless you're on my friend list.

At least, you have a method that works for you.

Most metal and punk communities and bands are actually very chill and have extreme awareness of and care for other people. If there's something happening in a crowd, a punk band will not hesitate to stop everything amd bring attention to it

That concert is spot on, it happens a lot if there is stuff going on in the crowds. At a festival a few years ago the headline band stopping completely for 15 minutes because someone was having a medical emergency in the crowd, they waited to make sure people got the help they needed before continuing and I didn't hear a single person complain. Heck everyone will pick you up if you fall in a pit, they seriously look out for one another in the rock community its lovely. Of course there are some bad eggs but that's the same everywhere
I'm proud to be a metal fan. I think because a lot of the community are victims of bullying and the rock & metal community has been hated on so much over the years we've adapted to protect each other and respect others. Our anger is channelled through our music, not our fists.

Pigeons will take off if you shoot a few, but will come back and crap all over everything, and tear stuff to pieces. Ducks are mean and aggressive. Geese and swans are malevolent, and will hurt you if they can. Crows, Ravens, and many tropical birds can be socialized, with effort.

The measuring the tatas with the hand just reminded me that my partner has super sensitive sense of smell and can accurately predict my period by smelling me!?? And not even by smelling down there, no, one day he just enters to the living room, sniffs and gives an accurate prediction, like, "5 days until period". Mind you, I have super irregular periods, so he's definitely not counting days. He actually manages to distinguish ingredients when I cook and once he detected gout in one of his colleagues at work before he actually had any sympthoms. It is impressive, he is like is freaking dog!!!

Fun fact: waiting music sounds so bad, because there are multiple calls on one line simultaneously. Each call has a limited frequency range they is picked with human voice in mind,so speaking sounds normal, but most music exceeds that range so that's why it sounds weird. I used to do the ‘coin flip’ thing with customers at our jewelry store. If a customer couldn’t decide between two items but wouldn’t get them both, I’d put them behind my back and have them pick a hand. It would always speed up the decision process. Either they were excited by the one they chose, or there was immediate disappointment. Either way, a win!

What I really hate about phone waiting music is when you suddenly hear the music be interrupted, sounding like someone picked up, only to get a recording saying, "Your call is important to us. Please continue to hold." Well, if my call was so important, why don't you actually pick up, or at the very least stop tricking me into believe a real person picked up!

When you're on hold, it's not just call centre employees twiddling their thumbs. It means that they are all marked as occupied in the system (usually with other calls or on break). They can't just pick your call up, it's all automated.

But as always, the true appreciation and importance becomes visible if it is not warm words but cold cash that does the talking.
I mean I know it was a joke, but from what I could gather ducks and octopi don't seek each other out to fight, but when irritated they may squabble. Best to keep them apart except when very calm , other than the obvious fact that they need to live in different environments. Octopi can live 20-30 minutes out of water, but best not to keep them out longer than 5, so as not to put on strain. Most ducks can only remain underwater 30 seconds without causing distress, so best to keep their hangouts short and few between. Have a nice day :)

The guys from Slipknot are amazing. My ex husband and I were at one of their shows on their Subliminal Verses tour. My ex had long thick curly hair so he gets overheated easier then most. We were up by the stage and I looked over at him and it was evident that he needed out and now. I got their attention and they stopped and had security help us over the fence and gave us water. I walked him out to the hallway and once he was ok we watched from the back of the pit. Absolutely incredible show I will never forget. When we moved into our house last summer, we didn’t have any plungers. So my mom got this new “modern” plunger that used the water in the toilet somehow. 2 bathrooms, and I HATED it because we were having a clogging issue (which later led to a pipe leaking sewage in the basement) and the use of water in the plunging process got water EVERYWHWRE. I have an old school plunger in my bathroom now and I’m happy.
