Billy had made it known that he was a big Elvis fan. From the lip curl, to the hair, and vibrato, all Elvis inspired.
stop biting your nails ;=
and do not do heroin...unless you are Billy Idol
I dig chicks that dig this.
If you like great voices and music with Attitude you`ve got to react to "Poundcake" by Van Halen.. just saying.. :D
Everyone wished they could be as cool as Billy Idol back in the 80's.
...and all that natural sexiness
The definition of a rock star (not the only one of course) but yeah, he invented himself.
That's fuckin facts
Everyone still wishes they could be as cool as Billy Idol back in the 80's.
I never understood as a teen in the late 90s why all the older generation hated the Grunge era of Rock. As I got older I realized their version of Rock & Roll was happy and sexy and fun. 70s and 80s Rock was just a blast. Everyone was just partying their asses off. So to them Grunge turned the party into a funeral. It made the music sad and serious. As a teen I thought they were just old and cranky and just couldn't adapt, but the more I listen to 70s and 80s Rock the more I see their point.
"I came to see a show, dammit, not get bummed out!!!"😂😂😂
The problem with grunge is it all started sounding the same, then the fact that it completely killed rock in the mainstream and now we have Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, plus the mush mouth or overly computer generated crap hop.
It was real. All b4 was synthetics in reality.
And
Most importantly.
It was punk
Ahhh yes, Billy. Great reaction. For something completely different, try “Eyes Without a Face” awesome track that shows his versatility as an artist. For another banger, our favourite 80s dance track was (of course) “Dancin’ With Myself”.
eyes without a face is so good
...and don't forget 'White Wedding' !
...and 'To be a lover' !@@jeffstevens4262
The guitarist is Steve Stevens, he also wrote and played the theme tune for the Top Gun film, and also worked with other artists on various songs, e.g., Michael Jackson's Dirty Diana
Steve Stevens live was off the chain!
Negative Ghost Rider - Harold Faltermeyer wrote the song. He asked Stevens to come on board and record the guitar tracks.
Did a fantastic album with Motley Crue vocalist Vince Neil called 'Exposed'. He was incredible on that one.
That machine gun riff at 4:49 is uniquely his.
A good way to describe Billy Idol's music is 'Punk Elvis'
I never thought about it like that. But you know, that's pretty damn accurate.
Mony Mony (live 1987) is his best live performance.
Saw Billy Idol live for a man his age he still ROCKS and his voice is still amazing
Bar closing song
Oh Ray Ray, this was the 80s, we didn't have breakdowns, we had solo's.
This video completely changed the way many people looked at Billy Idol's back up band. They went from "Billy Idol" to "Billy Idol and guitarist Steve Stevens." Steve would eventually go solo with his own band, called "Steve Stevens and the Atomic Playboys."
What a name 😂
Atomic Playboys was really good. Steve also did an interesting experimental project called BLS. It stands for Bozzio, Levin, Stevens. Terry Bozzio, the drumming legend and Tony Levin, the bass and Chapman stick legend. The album was called "BLS" for Black Light Syndrome. 😁
Billy Idol was the poster boy for what an 80's Rockstar should look like. The guitarist is Steve Stevens and his wild guitar style complimented Billy's stage presents. Stevens also performed the guitar theme of the original "Top Gun" movie.
THANK YOU. It was obvious that Billy Idol was the alpha of the thing, but Steve Stevens absolutely was the core of the sound. He's gone unnoticed for a long time because of how Billy (rightfully so) is the focus of the mix, but if you listen for it, Stevens is doing incredible work all over the track.
Wrong - Harold wrote the song and asked Stevens to come play the guitar tracks.
@@Swordsfor200Alex You are right, I have corrected my post.
" Sweet Sixteen " is a beautiful song as is " Eyes Without A Face " ... dude's voice hits your heart !
He's got a very 80's look, here, but I feel that his voice and his music are pretty timeless.
Other songs: White Wedding, Eyes Without a Face. He had an early 90's hit with Rock the Cradle of Love, which had a rather steamy video.
He's timeless because he absolutely made himself un-forgettable 100% of the time. Born performer, even when playing himself. lol
You MUST listen to the cover of this song by the band named HIM. They are from Finland, and you're gonna love the singer's voice. There are a lot of song by them you'll love, his voice is so deep 💪🏻⚡🔥
At a time when MTV was pretty much only playing New Wave stuff, this went hard af, and opened the door for a lot of the heavier stuff like Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister. Steve Stevens is legendary. This song in particular holds up in every way 40 years later, and I still turn it up every time it comes on.
There will NEVER be another 80's! So glad I grew up then!
Saw Billy Idol perform live back then. Such a powerful, versatile vocalist. He can go from screaming to the smoothest croon in milliseconds. He had so much fun up there on stage! Born to perform.
He’s got an acoustic version of this that kills, too
Billy has a unique accent in real life as his family moved to the USA when he was 2 and moved back to the ik when he was 11. His father's job meant they lived o. Long Island in New York during that time
Being a teenager in the 80's was amazing
THIS song is in my top five. It's my favorite steering-wheel-thumping-singing-at-the-top-of-my-lungs song!! 😊
I can remember the debut of White Wedding on MTV..!! Everyone became instant Billy Idol fans..!! The extended dance tracks that he released would keep the party pumping,, that's for sure..!! In the 90's I started competing in car audio and used "Eyes Without A Face" as a system reference for clean bottom end..!! An absolute MUST listen with some high powered 15" subs..!!
Gosh, i love this song.
So much energy.
Billy Idol - Hot in The City. Though I don't believe that there's hot soon... White Wedding, Eyes Without Face, Dancing With My Self
And sprinkles on the cupcake: Money, Money
Steve Steven’s is an underrated legend. Total shredder.
Billy has an acoustic version of this too, which is amazing. I low-key might like it better!
Flesh for Fantasy is one of his absolute best songs.
Did you ever see Blind Guardian?
They have an extremely loyal fan base with an outstanding vocalist.
Valhalla or The Bards Song are all time classics (live version is always best)
Sweet Sixteen is one of the most soulful love songs performed by Billy Idol based on a true story.
If you want an outstanding metal song with the former and current lead singers of a band included, Signal Fire by Killswitch Engage. ;)
That is really Billy Idol in the wedding singer on the plane...just thought you might enjoy that info. Always loved him!!!
He also does that thing with his lip that Elvis used to do. Elvis was definitely a big influence on him. 😁
Billy Idol had the most incredible and iconic singing voice to come from here in England with the legendary Freddie Mercury. Billy Idol is a Londoner who was born in London just like me. Billy Idol also starred in some British films and was a very good actor as well but his singing voice is just amazing and iconic. He was one of my favourite singers in the 80's and he came out with some incredible songs such as Rebel Yell, White Wedding and so on. 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
I can't overstate how important this song was in the party/bar scene. This was a true tone setter... audio cocaine. Boys and girls were both energized and "given permission" to search for a "mix" This song you play at the beginning of the night. Flesh For Fantasy is another Idol song I hope you consider. That one you played at the end of the night.
THE definitive Billy Idol song- "White Wedding". Not his best? but really really good and put him on the map... next reaction please.
White Wedding is a great Billy Idol track.
This was an amazing in music history time to live. I was a teenager when this was on the radio.
The 80's were a great time to be a teenager
@@scallen3841 word
Hell yes, I was 12 when this came out and had the 45 single.
@@scallen3841 🤘😎🤘
- Hot In The City
- Love Calling
- Mony Mony
- Dancing With Myself
- White Wedding (the full 8 minute "Shotgun Mix" is recommended as it is "Parts I & II")
- Catch My Fall
- Blue Highway
- Eyes Without A Face
- Flesh For Fantasy
- Speed
Billy Idol is like good wallpaper: he sticks around. He did some stuff with Miley Cyrus a few years ago - 168 years old and in unbelievable shape.
This song was inspired by one night when Billy Idol was drinking at a bar in New York City with members of The Rolling Stones and they were drinking Rebel Yell whiskey which Billy Idol had never heard of and so they drank Rebel Yell all night and Billy Idol went back to his hotel probably with a girl and then wrote this song
They actually covered this song and Wicked Game.
He does a duet of this song with Miley Cyrus.
Well worth the listen.
Flesh for fantasy! So good.
White Wedding, Mony Mony, Cradle of Love, Hot in the City, Sweet 16, Eyes Without a Face, Dancing with Myself... all are bangers and would suggest a listen
You want to get really hyped? Try his live video for Mony, Mony. If you’re not out of your chair dancing, you might be unconscious
Billy started off in a punk band called Generation X.
I wish I could hit the like button a million times. This and Mony Mony always gets me pumped up!
I remember that sellers of illicit "products" used names of his songs for certain things. Rebel Yell was code for an opioid product and etc.
I love that Billy Idol just showed up, took over, and retired a king.
Billy Idol has a few really great songs and Steve Stevens is a hell of a guitarist.
Billy Idol ❤
This was a live concert music video one of the first of its kind for the time, enjoy
Billy Idol is an amazing singer. His voice is awesome and he's a great performer. Stage presence. He'd be the perfect front man for any band.
he was the only rock star in the 80's w/short hair that I thought was sexy af☺️love Billy Idol
love the new generation discovering real music. Do sweet 16 by Billy Idol
Hmm, do any of us really know who Billy Idol is? Don’t we all have some Rebel Yell in us still? Maybe, just maybe, we’re all just a little Billy Idol, he’s just the most Billy Idol of all of us. Now go outside and scream MORE, MORE, MORE!
And Steve Stevens is a massively underrated guitarist.
Steve Stevens never got the recognition he deserved back in the day. He should've been ranked a lot higher when it came to rock guitarists.
His live version of Mony Mony is legendary.
Try Rebel Yell live at Download Festival in about 2015/2016 when Billy was nearly 60. Amazing performance. There are some great stripped back / acoustic performances to be found on CZcams. And if you’re a fan of Umbrella Academy you might recognise Bitter Taste.
I've been listening to Billy Idol since the 80s, his songs are really cool, I really like the band's guitarist, Steve Stevens, as Steve was one of the composers of the theme song for the 1986 movie Top Gun - Top Gun Anthem
My ma is 57 and this is her all time favorite singer and has seen him more than 10 times throughout the 80's to current years.
The guitar work on this track is wild. Just the underlying riffs are fantastic. The way they support the vocal line, and drive the song forward. The solo isn't the flashiest thing in the world, but my god it's perfect for the song.
If High School had an anthem! 87’
Billy has a lot of songs out there worthy of checking out. I've always been partial to White Wedding... ;)
If you wanna see/listen to an amazing live video listen to Rebel Yell (Live Acoustic). It's just Billy Idol & Steve Stevens when they're a lot older and they still sound freaken amazing.
White Wedding
Rock the Cradle of Love
Eyes Without a Face 😉👍
Being a teenager in the 80's was awesome!!!!!! If I could do it all over again.......GLADLY!!!!!!!
Dancing with Myself next please
He started out in the punk band Generation X. Check out the song 100 Punks.
White Wedding great song
Billy STILL has an amazing voice, and all that energy and attitude. A song that that you might not see a lot of recommendations for because of the album it came from, "Shock to the System." That song will have you moving all over the place. I've always likened Billy to a cross between Sinatra, Elvis, and the entirety of the punk attitude alll stuffed into one man. When he does a ballad, he will MELT you. When he does high energ songs, you are GOING to be moving. And Billy and Steve Stevens (the guitarist) have been together their who career almost. You should check out some of his newer stuff. "Save Me Now, "One Breath Away," "Cage" just came out a couple of years ago and it's an absolute banger, and "Bitter Taste" is a one that just came out. That one is about his motorcycle accident that really messed him up back when the video for "Cradle of Love" was released. It's why he's only shown mostly neck up on a tv screen.
*"CYBERPUNK" is totally underrated...*
The title Rebel Yell came from a back stage incident when they were partying and drinking Rebel Yell Vodka LOL
If you want a deep dive down the Billy Idol rabbit hole, check out some of his stuff with the band Generation X. Start with the song "Kiss Me Deadly".
Love don't live here anymore is an amazing one of his too
Another great Billy Idol songs:Shock To The System,White Wedding,Flesh For Fantasy,Speed,Dancing With Myself,Bitter Pill,Postcards From The Past,Bitter Taste,Can't Bring Me Down,Eyes Without A Face,Mony Mony.🤘🏻Greetings from Argentina.
So '80's. I LOVE IT!!
Cradle of love is one of my favorites.
Rachael: "I wanna see more."
Me: "MORE! MORE! MORE!"
😉
watch this every day
Stevens...so underrated as a player and entertainer.
Good reaction!
Besides this song, by that time Billy had 2 other massive hits - therefore, these would be natural choices for next reactions: "Dancing with myself"; "Eyes without a face".
You know,my daughter is 35,and she saw Billy a few yrs back she's been to every concert their is.
Korn
Lamb of God
Godsmack
All of them.
But she told me Billy was the best show she'd ever seen.🤷
No that wasn’t live ….I saw Billy idol in 1986 at Irvine Meadows CA……incredible live….
While She Sleeps - to the flowers. Please thank you🫶
I'm glad u like Billy idol! I grew up listening to him since i was 4, and I'm 41 now. He is awesome and still touring, he has new music out too btw! The album kings and queens of the underground is really good and he did 2 different lp's recently i forget both of their names. This music video for rebel yell was a live performace done in nj. I recommend from his music do reactions to dancing with myself, eyes without a face, cradle of love, to be a lover, hot in the city, white wedding and the live music video of mony mony. The self titled album billy idol, rebel yell and whiplash smile are all great albums, cyberpunk and charmed life were okay but not as good personally.
This is one of those that demands you turn up the volume. Also, that Billy Idol? THAT'S a rock star! Obviously he worked at his image and his performance since he was part of the surprisingly small original Punk subculture at the Roxy in London in 1977, but if anyone was ever born to be a rock star, he was.
Eyes without a face 👌🏻💯
Check out Billy on "Eyes Without A Face", slower and again great vocals with Steve Stevens showing his stuff again. You'll love it!
Great, rocking, anthem of a track and he just lets it loose. For another great song from him but a different vibe, do Hands Without a Face, others recommend that video and so do I !!! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Bill just did a show at the HOOVER DAM!!! Recorded it and posted a few videos from it. You need to check it out. It’s so badass!
Also shout out to Billy being in the wedding singer and him being the coolest dude ever.
this is still real music. not like today. What is called music today is crazy
He is still doing live performances.
Billy sounds great live even now in his 60s Kind of an underrated singer because he was mostly considered pretty bad boy for teen girls in the 80s You should do something from Kate Bush and Siouxsie. But some less known songs. Like Suspended in Gaffa or Lily from Kate and Candyman live, The sweetest chill or Fall from grace from Siouxsie and the Banshees.
If you want to dive down this rabbit hole I recommend L.A. Woman (wonderful cover of the Doors song), Cradle of Love, Sweet Sixteen and Flesh For Fantasy. Greetings from Italy.
Money, money is good, hot in the city, eyes without a face, and many more all good in their own way!
A live reaction would be awsome🎉
Check out his official video of To Be Your Lover...peak talk-singing from him.
Welcome to the New Wave-Post-Punk music, there are many bands that made party in 80's.Styles like New Wave , Post Punk,DarkWave,Synth Wave, EBM,Italo Disco 80's give joy to your life ¡¡¡
The 80’s style will never be topped
This song or Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand are my go to karaoke songs. So much charisma and fun energy
Rachel, THIS WHOLE ALBUM is GREAT, EXCELLENT. IT'S GOT A WIDE RANGE, can't label just one GENRE
