Billy is a British rock icon from the 80's with so many great songs. Eyes without a face, White Wedding, Rock the cradle. Most notably he became a naturalized US citizen after living in and out of NY for decades. He said receiving his citizenship was one of his greatest accomplishments.
80's Punk Rock. Billy Idol is an Icon. Other songs and videos to check out by him is the concert version of MONY MONY, EYES WITHOUT A FACE, DANCING WITH MYSELF, CRADLE OF LOVE. He's got a rabbit hole. You'll enjoy.
Great song. Now time for "White Wedding" by Billy Idol. It's a banger
This song was used in The Wedding Singer. Billy Idol did a cameo appearance at the end of the movie as well.
If you ever seen the legend of billy jean it's on there as well, and if you haven't seen it I recommend it, it a good movie.
Also recently in American Horror story. 1984 . Richard Rameriz dancing to it .
An 80's rocker who was known for partying hard. He partied soo hard one time, they had to call the military to get him out of a hotel room, escort him onto a plane, strap him down, and fly him out of the country.
That's the most 80s thing I've ever heard.
Mony Mony, White Wedding, and Hot in the City are his other huge hits. ALL worth a listen.
..and "Flesh For Fantasy"
@@martinsv9183 yes sir
"Dancing With Myself"
Billy idol is British and his first band was"generation x" definitely punk! Another good song is"eyes without a face, flesh for fantasy, white wedding, cradle of love.......etc✌️
Although their third album Kiss me Deadly I would say is more New Wave than Punk. And includes the classic Dancing with myself. Billy always kept a little punk in him though👏👏
I wouldn't really call Billy Idol "punk". I mean there is a touch of that, but blended heavily with new wave and rock n roll. He kind of had his own sound and style, like Elvis gone 80s.
Alot of great hits, good band.
He also hold dual British and American Citizenship. His family spent several years living on Long Island New York when he was very small(his sister was born in the US) before moving back to the UK when he was around 7 or 8.
Billy Idol Mony Mony for crowd participation! Their sound is really music driven. Big shout to the band members! Steve Stevens really shreds that guitar and still tours with Billy.
Agree, shredds pretty good.
I agree! When he says that “he lives in his own heaven” in that deep voice it really does sound like Elvis
Imagine Billy pointing to you in the crowd and singing this song to you. Have a young lady feeling some type of way. I'm surprised yall didn't comment on the strong drums here now that yall are really into drums. Also Billy Idol did have a few Cameos in movies back in the day
80s punk rock, you came on the scene maybe almost halfway through the Disco era. I was in my twenties during the '80s, it was the greatest time for music and clubs ever.
“ Dancing with myself “ should be your listen by dude 🤞🏾🔥🔥
I got to see him live in the 80s. Came to my college. Got everyone up on a frenzy for an encore and then just walked of the stage. I was mad, but on the other hand it was inline with his personality.
You may want to check out White Wedding and Mony, Mony.
@@michaelasay8587 Old? I don't feel old. Is 58 old? Not for me. 🤣
This was a Club Banger way back when!!!! It hyped it up when played, Man! What a BLAST!!!
Y'all should've seen it!😎🔥✌
Billy is the MAN!❤ my entire family loved him, even my grandma used to say he was cute if he would do something with his hair!🙄😂
Haha, his face is absolutely beautiful but his hair is awesome too!
@@jenniferfoster1692 she's telling me this with me sporting spiked hair of my own at the time hahaa
Best was I was seeing this metal dude in HS, he came by my place & my dad is a total character, sees the guy's spiked bracelet & asks to put it on... then snarls and yells "FLESH! FLESH FOR FANTASY!" the bf says "Billy Idol is a dick" aaaaand exit!! Dad said after the awkward silence, "ok then... we'll be seeing you, almost time for dinner here" then later tried bragging that he threw him out for talking shit about Billy!!😂🤣😂
Not wrong about the Elvis vibes. He´s always been a big fan of the King. You want to give "To Be A Lover" a shot. It´s pretty clear to hear on that one.
Ooooh! That’s one of my FAVOURITES!!! Yes! 👏🏻👏🏻
He also has the Elvis lip curl.
Great song and reaction listen to his song white wedding I love some billy he’s like 80s punk rock
He was the lead vocalist in a punk band called Generation X in the 70s
I just googled, he looks just the same now as he did then! Pretty impressive for a rock star from that time! Try White Wedding next
I totally love how honest and respectful you guys are! Even if 9 out of 10 videos would never be on your personal play lists you keep it real and I love that!
Bro you puttin them reactions up Billy Idol was my 1st exposure to Rock when I was a kid 80s classic jam!
🤘🤘 Billy is an 80's staple!!! He's STILL going too!!! Just dropped an album recently!!!! Check out the song Eyes Without a Face!!! 😉❤✌🏼
Definitely worth checking out more Billy Idol he was such an important part of the alternative 80s in the UK and was part of the Bromley contingency who were famously on television with the sex pistils in the 70’s.
This is 80s Punk Rock
This was my era, 80's Rock had a strong r 'n' b twist, and can jive with hip hop!
"Dancin' with Myself" was used in the movie "Can't Buy Me Love". Billy has about a dozen hits that I enjoy 40 years later.
That's probably my favorite song of his
Thank you sooo much for this reaction...took me allll the back to high school...i blasted this song everytime it came on the radio....love yalls reactions!!
The wedding singer. Billy makes a cameo appearance
Billy Idol was a banger in the 80's "Eyes without a Face" "White Wedding" but my favorite song was "Fatal Charm"
idol is a great artist , steve stevens top 10 guitar heros ever , he transcended billy idol are a icone
HIGH ENERGY!!❤ Loved Billy Idol!!
I'm a full-blown metalhead have been for forty years. I love punk and rock'n'roll and Billy is a fucking rock icon. never been disappointed with a single song!
Billy Idol is ABSOLUTELY for REAL!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🎵🎼🎶🎸🥁🎹🎙💜 Major guilty pleasure!!!!
And when you mention it, he definitely gives off a unique vibe. He almost sings in a older, crooning style, but still hits high notes. Despite belonging to the rock genre, of course.
Best snarl since Elvis! Great live band, great band too.
One of the BEST ARTISTS to come out of the NEW WAVE movement from the 80's.
Other GREAT 80's bands:
Depeche Mode, U2, Talking Heads, Oingo Boingo, X, Prince, THE CURE, BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE, VILENT FEMMES, MINISTRY, BAUHAUS, DEVO, THE RAMONES, THE CULT, P.I.L, THE SMITHS, TEARS FOR FEARS, THE ENGLISH BEAT, MADONNA, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, B52's, BEASTIE BOYS, RUN DMC, PSYCHEDELIC FURS, REM, THE CLASH to name a few. Lol. 💯🔥🤯🤞✌
Saw him live twice in NZ. Last time was in 2019. They are both still good (Billy & Steve)!!
Billy Idol was quite the performer, with a kill ass guitar player. Say, guya, m Rupp, of the a capella group Home Free, does an amazing beat box solo drum act. You'll love it, I swear.
I like this song and “White Wedding” by him.
My fave song by him with Dancing with Myself, and Flesh for Fantasy. He played a cameo in the Wedding Singer.
Juice mentions 'Billy Idol' in his song "U Wouldn't Understand," you should really check it out🔥🔥🔥
Billy Idol is a rock legend, started out in the original British punk rock scene and went more mainstream after some years. His videos were all over MTV back in the day when it mattered. He has a HUGE catalogue of amazing songs, and he's still touring today to huge venues, and still kicking ass. He's one of a kind
My entire crew was down with Billy idol back in the day. Most definitely dope.
Love Billy Idol so much, loved him since I was a kid
This Rebel Yell concert...my 11th bday present....was amazing!💜
Billy said one time in a concert I went to that Elvis was one of his influences and idols
You're right about the Elvis reference...Elvis had a distinct "crooning" style of vocal as does Billy Idol - very low pitch and sustained. A lot of rock/punk singers adapted this same crooning approach to their vocal style such as Jim Morrison of The Doors, Glenn Danzig of The Misfits/Samhain/Danzig, and Michael Paulson of Volbeat.
To validate my statement here, you should really react to the official video by Danzig called "Mother"....I think you'd really vibe to that one!
what an energetic performance---tha guitarist was shredder supreme on that solo fo sho!!
Good point. I grew up with this but just realized how much he crafted his image to be Elvis from the voice to the sneer. Of course, the name IDOL was also clever.
Billy had serious stage presence... so much charisma and talent. Cool guy too
You are right about this "Elvis" voice part.He is immitating the king in this specific part.Very detailed remark, bravo!
Billy Idol made a huge impact when he first cam onto the scene back in the day ... try "Flesh For Fantasy"next, for a different vibe of his.
Billy has IT!!!! 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️
Cradle of love
Dont need gun
Billy had tons of hits back then. My favorit is Flesh for fantasy
Swagger, lip curl, high energy. Pretty sure his appeal is more to a female audience. Love him.
I've seen a lot of these rebel yell videos and I have never seen someone not bounce the ole noggin a little bit! 😊 She must be distracted by something! And yes Elvis vibes😂 Guitar dude is Edward Scissorhands Hands😂
This band was a mixture of Glam Rock/ Punk Rock and he does the lip thing like Elvis!
Yeah kinda like Elvis but mostly got it from Sid Vicious. His spiked hair too.
You've seen Steve Stevens before....he played the guitar for Michael Jackson, Dirty Diana. He's an absolute beast of a player!
Billlyyy! Whoo, he had us jumping in the day. He has a great repertoire of songs. Listen to White Wedding, Mony, Mony and Eyes Without A Face. His mouth sneers and fist punch outs were his iconic moves. Now he's an awesome father and grandfather 👍🏾👵🏿🎶💜!
My cousin was really into this band, She would say he is a modern version of Elvis. She so loved his curled lip smirk. His punk appeal(all the studded clothing) was popular. I even got questioned one day, by the police & my studded belt got taken away(apparently it is classed as a weapon). Was supposed to go see him, but the concert got delay by two days in Australia, as he had to go back to the UK, as no one here would dye his hair, with his required level of peroxide, to get the look he required. He has many good songs, but my favourite is White Wedding.
One of my favorite songs of all time
Wedding Singer lol it was on that movie, and Billy Idol was also in that movie. They also played White Wedding.
I love watching you guys I play this song on keyboard all the time!!!
Billy mfcking Idol !!! True Rock Legend
You may have heard the version with Miley Cyrus corroborating
Or maybe one of the 30000 places it’s been featured in:
The song appears in the 1984 movie Sixteen Candles.
The song appears in the 1985 movie The Legend of Billie Jean.
The song appears in the 1986 movie The Wraith.
The song was included in the video games Guitar Hero World Tour, WWE 2K16, as a downloadable track for the Rock Band series.
The song appears in the documentary Warren Miller's Impact.
The song appears in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain as an in-game cassette tape.
Part of the song was used in a radio commercial for Blockbuster Video Australian in the mid-2000s. The line "more, more, more" appeared in the ad, with the voiceover boasting about Blockbuster having more copies of new release movies than the competition.
The song has been covered by many different bands such as Children of Bodom, HIM, Drowning Pool, Dope, Black Veil Brides, Adrenaline Mob, and Otherwise.
The song was used during a flashback scene, in the 4th episode of American Horror Story: 1984.
In the 1990s, the song was featured in an ad campaign for KP snacks. Following the final lyrics "more, more, more" a voice over added "why settle for less, less, less."
The song appears in the trailer for the Outbreak gamemode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as well as appearing in a collection of songs in a music pack in-game.
The music video of "Rebel Yell" can be seen on a TV in the 1988 film Big.
Billy Idol was also in a movie " THE WEDDING SINGER " as himself (toward the end of the movie ) !
Billy was one of Many 80's Icons. Wish I could Transport You All to the Early 80's Era. You would Love it!
The word you're looking for is ENERGY!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
I saw them do this in a small university club. This style saw rock shifting a bit more more towards punk. It meant the nightclub fashion of the day, for many reasons I'm sure, had us all dressed like we were vampire S&M practitioners. But I've gotta tell you, for back then, people did look f'ing cool.
White Wedding is another great one of his. Thanks for the vid!
I got to know him through Grand Theft Auto series. Always on the radio.
I remember all girls loved Billy
That made me jealous at the time
He had a lots of energy and carisma... They still love him, but they won't tell you, bro😜
I said it when we first saw this song/video on MTV. He reminds me of Elvis. Bad ass Lead Guitarist
White Wedding and Mony Mony are great songs of his. British Punk Rocker
Good pick up. He loves Elvis 👑 That's were Billy got the lip from.
Yes! Good on you! Definitely Elvis vibes with the lip action and the voice intonations.
80s rock has all the raw power and energy!
Good to see your switching it up to some British classics. We was running the music industry till the mid 90's
Prior to going solo, Billy Idol was a punk icon as he was in the punk band "X". I think that is what you are picking up on. However, he does also seem influenced by Elvis, in his low tones and his upper lip curl. His sex appeal was just as great as Elvis too! Except more raw and edgy. My brother cultivated his look for a while in his teens. I, on the other hand, love the guitarist Steve Stevens. I love that ray gun sound he makes, the all black vinyl outfit, jet black crazy hair. I got a BA in music, with major instrument being classical guitar, but I love his solo's. Steve Steven's is the embodiment of an 80's guitar god. He also did the solo in Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana". I love the solo in "Eyes without a Face", which is my favorite. Idol and Stevens complemented each other so well.
Now let's all practice our Billy Idol sneers.
Was lucky to see Billy Idol in the 80’s brilliant performance
Billy is a vibe of his own.
I got kicked out of my senior English class for missing class on the day of the midterm exam because I went to the Billy Idol concert the night before and got all fucked up. I didn't graduate on time because of that stunt. Totally worth it
Listen to Cradle of Love......I think you'll bang to it.
Billy Idol is great in his small role in the Wedding Singer movie.....
Love Steve Stevens. Great and underapteciated guitarist. His Elvis snarl is a homage to him.
One thing about the 80s our music was diverse we had lots of sub genres inside of Blues, Rock, Pop, Punk, Country, Rap and there was lots of crossover. You could hear just about any genre on a pop station. We didn’t feel obligated to own a certain genre of music. We just appreciated good music.
Billy idol was more punk with rock edge.
Billy was so hot! 😉
It's the lip curl that billy is doing that's giving Elvis vibes.
Rebel Yell was played throughout the 80s.
It's just one of those songs that stick a liftime with you.
Yes this dope song was used in movies it was massive back in the day.
Rebel Yell was released by the end of 1983 but as I said a hit through the entire decade.
Billy was one of the greats of the 80s and he had a lot of hits also into the 90s.
You may try Sweet 16...
Elvis...yes that was him doing Elvis absolutely!
He was inspired by a lot of great guys.
I love his version of L.A.Woman(The Doors).
He was in the move The Wedding Singer playing himself. 🤘🤘
It was in the movie Legend of Billie Jean an 80's classic
Listen to Elvis from 1968. He did a concert that was fantastic. Nothing like Billy.
This type of rock is called "Punk Rock" and Billy was the king of it in the early 80's. He and his lead guitar player, Steve Stevens, are still out there rockin' it. They just don't jump around like they used to. I don't either. lol
This is called Punk Rock. I did a lot of clubbing and dancing to this music back in the day. Ah the good old days😎
Punk Rock was a thing at that time...the style of clothes ..the music..etc. The "Elvis Vibe" ... He keeps curling his upper lip and some of his moves give off that vibe! lol
He was a rocker.fire reaction.yes he got that from Elvis,he liked Elvis.
Rock Star! Certainly not the only one, but definitely in the club.
Billy Idol started out as punk rock before going more main stream.
Elvis was an early influence and he does have a very famous sneer like Elvis did as well🤘🏼
Billy Idol played himself in the Adam Sandler movie called The Wedding Singer .Some of his songs are in the movie also
oh hell yes !! 🔥🔥🔥
He curled up his lip like Elvis. This was played a lot on the radio. Fun dance tune.
Try Billy Idol- White Wedding another one of his hits! He still jammin to this day and sounds good.
she looked real excited, LOL
