  • This has to be without a doubt THE BEST episode of Coin Quest Nickels! In this episode, we are coin roll hunting another $100 box of nickels that was already showing signs that it was going to be an amazing box just based off of its enders. We got 2 reverse-D enders, 1 definite older Jefferson nickel ender (which turned out to be older than I originally thought!), and something that almost never happens- a reverse-S ender! I had so much fun with this and hope that you all enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it!

      Thanks for checking it out Rob! I didn't realize that the 50-D was the only coin that you're still missing in your collection- that's crazy! I just read another comment on the video where the commenter stated that they have searched nearly 700 boxes of nickels and have only found 1 1950-D and 2 1949-S and that just blew my mind...this is not an easy series to complete, and the crazy thing is that out of all dimes, quarters, pennies, and nickels, it is still the most attainable. Now I feel like I need to do nickels more often to see what else I can fill in, but the war nickels have been filling in at a very slow rate and have been somewhat discouraging. Also, I wonder if the surge in nickel prices is going to make it difficult to get boxes in the coming weeks/months. I guess we will see- we may not have much time left to complete our albums once and for all! Anyway, thanks again for watching and good luck in getting yours!

    A 1918 wheat penny was my very first coin, the one that got me into collecting and I found it well… actually a firefly lead me to it, I was trying to catch it and landed on huge tree and it let me get so close that I could see a tiny thing reflecting its light and there it was a 1918 penny stuck between the cracks,I still have it and it’s still my favorite one.

    Real good hunt! When I started coin roll hunting again after retiring, I found an AU, partial steps 50D in my first box. Be sure to check the 39P's closely. Dustin Morgan (rip buddy) did a feature video on my second 39 doubled die on Coin Opp"s channel found in box 402. I went through 3 other rolls of coin roll hunted 39's and found yet another one! After 696 boxes since April of 2018 ive only found one 50D and 2 49S's. They're getting tougher these days. Good luck. I may not comment much, but I watch as many of your hunts as possible!

    Finding that 50-D Jefferson was a once in a life time find. Congratulations. I remember my first 1913 Bullalo nickel I got in change from a Coke machine at Chrystal Cave. It was 1960 and the coin was in high mint state condition. It's something you never forget, like waking up Christmas morning when your ten years old. As far as the 2009 Jefferson nickel goes, I doubt if many people are finding any. I've bought some, but can't find any in change. I do have a Proof 2009 Jefferson I bought in one of 4 sets I got from the mint and happened to notice that one set had a severely clash died Nickel that I sent to the ANACS to have it verified. I think it's one of a kind and may even have been the first one struck. But for some reason, I have not been able to find much if any interest in it. The clashes are on both sides and the most prominate and my favorite is that both of Jeffersons eyes appear on the reverse in and above the word Monticello. I figure in time it may be discovered so I'm keeping it. Although, if it's the only one and unique, there is nothing to compare it to. Your show is great and I'm glad I found it. John Dunkle

    I too have been checking through coins & have been saving them in my collection since 2007 or 2008. So far I have almost a small to medium sized chest full of some of the oldest & the rarest coins I have found & saved in my collection. From Quarters, Nickels, Dimes “Especially a dozen Mercury Dimes” & Pennies “Including Wheat Pennies like that one 1918 example.” I even have some Canadian coins in my collection too. As well as some coins from different corners of the world. I hope those I have saved for the occasion will make lots of money💵💰combined for whatever I choose to do. Like the old saying goes, there’s plenty & to spare. With that amount of coins, I’ll be rich. Well, I better see if there’s any more of the oldest & the rarest coins I can find & save in my collection. As for some coins that are from the 1990S & from 2000 to Present day, I’m putting them in for a deposit.

    I'm new to all of you creators talking about coins, and you've got me going through all the change we've saved over the years. Can someone explain what full steps mean? I bought the book strike it rich with pocket change due to seeing creators going over error coins. Any suggestions on guides before I go through coffee cans of dimes and quarters. Went through coffee can of pennies prior to seeing enough videos. Went through nickels and at least separated them 30s to 50s, 60s & 70s, then rest up. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Was just given a family coin collection of older coins but don't have a clue what to look for

  • @DaBombGD
    @DaBombGD Před 2 lety +4

    Absolutely an amazing box Ryan! Quite a mix of rare finds. I have to say though, with that rare penny in the roll, you might’ve stumbled upon a collection dump that was really mix up with moderns, since you didn’t have too many old coins if it was a collection dump that wasn’t mixed up with a lot of moderns. I know that 50D will probably remain in that collection forever, but it would be cool to see it graded.

    • @QuinsCoins
      @QuinsCoins  Před 2 lety +2

      Absolutely! I agree that it would be cool to get it graded- I will definitely think about it! And yeah when you get machine wrapped rolls, you are almost guaranteed to have a mix of modern coins and whatever else someone dumped because it all gets mixed up, but sometimes, the concentration of the good stuff is greater, and that is what we are after!

    What is a Denver reverse coin? Does that mean that the mint mark is on the back side of the coin? I have nickels that I can not find a mint mark on. I am also looking for information on those as well.

    • @QuinsCoins
      @QuinsCoins  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes that’s right! The mintmark will be on the reverse side on the right hand side of the Monticello for nickels dated 1964 and earlier. And if there is no mint mark, then it is from Philadelphia!

    Rob or Rob Finds Treasure has been searching for a 1950-D through 131 boxes (262,000 nickels). That's the only nickel he hasn't found. I've collected coins since the early 1960s, and I've never come across a 1950-D. Of course, we didn't hunt nickel boxes back then, just loose change and some change my father got from the school vending machines.

    One time I opened a (bank sealed!) nickel roll and found a 1938 in almost mint condition. I realized shortly after that it was at the end of the roll! A week or two later I found another 1938 in slightly worse condition but also an ender! Both had the obverse side showing at the end.

      I couldn’t believe it either! The near-mint 1938 even has some of the steps visible on the reverse and the edge of it still has the lines from when it was punched out of the metal sheet! It definitely isn’t a proof but it has a lot of detail for its age.

    ive begun watching more and more coin hunting videos xD then i suddenly remembered that i did have a coin collection on my big brothers attic xD (Living in Denmark so not a high hope of many US coins) But low and behold i found 19 us coins out of like 3000 coins xD and out of those 19 the coolest were :
    1907 V Nickel
    1940 S Jefferson
    1946 Jefferson
    1952 D Wheat
    and last a 76 Centennial quarter xD
    I think i did good with only 19 coins 2 hunt thru xD
    Edit well also funny got 88 - 89 - 90 Denver quarters xD
