I was really worried about Disney de-aging Harrison Ford, but that shot of the younger Raiders-era Indy when they pulled the hood off, revealing his face looked INSANELY good. So stoked for this now
That was so absolutely epic I had a double take thinking did they use unreleased old footage from previous moveis for this?
Really?? After all the de-aging they've done with the MCU you had doubts they wouldn't pull it off?
Ever since the flak they for the end of “Rogue One”, Disney has gotten progressively better at the de-aging part, and I agree: that shot of a younger Harrison Ford looked impressive.
@@ckelcro Hey, given all of the other flak they got, it's not bad considering they were still working out the weird bad animation dub/ rubber mouth problem, while DC somehow managed to interpret Henry Cavill's simple mustache erosion fix into a full CGI cleft-palate repair for absolutely no reason. These days, even with full angled and lit reference, expecting a studio to actually get that right on their most valuable properties... Is still shocking. The case in point is simply the references, iterations, and sequels.
@@jimkelly7908 Rogue One wasn’t de-aging though, it was _resurrecting._ Not to mention it’s 6 years old now.
That theme is just immortal. When I graduated from middle school to high school that was the music we walked in and out to. I felt so damn cool.
Lucky!
Cool. 😎✨
Who's idea was that? A student's? Your school's music teacher? A very memorable moment that must have been!!
Cant wait for guardians in 45 mins!
Lol
@Boomcity84 LMAO! 🤣
💀
😂😂
Oh boy, Jay probably had to return a third time because of the Guardians 3 Trailer that dropped shortly after lmao
This trailer was the Force Awakens teaser but for Indiana Jones. The way the main theme triumphantly roared its way into our ears is the same as when the Star Wars main theme did as the Millennium Falcon appeared in the TFA teaser.
I even saw similarities between Indy saying something about believing in magic, and Han saying something similar about the force
And I'm quite sure this movie will suck just as much.
Considering how much TFA devastated me (I was on the sequel hating train before it was cool) that sounds apt, haha. But I agree the trailers were fantastic.
@@Quotenwagnerianer yeah
@@lisamarieligreci-newton7804 outside of TLJ the hate train was unwarranted just like it was for the prequels back when they released.
Dear future Adam... Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3... dropped while you began this video rant. :)
I remember watching Raiders of the Lost Ark over and over again when it first came out. It never loses its magic.
The movie will open in 1944 before transitioning into 1969. This was confirmed in the recent issue of Empire Magazine that talks about the film. The movie will be set in the backdrop of the Space Race
It has that unique, almost glowing patina that the old Indiana Jones films had! It looked SO perfect!
I know what you mean, that amber, slightly blown out tone.
@@backtoearth1983 yes! It always made it feel like I was watching a completely different movie from anything else available in the theaters. At least until Crystal Skull. 😬
That's the feeling they're trying to convey. But the story is going to suck ass.
Never thought of it this way but Jay Absolutely Nailed it...Indiana Jones is the American James Bond... I'm all about this!!! Absolutely perfect
That’s how he was conceived. Spielberg told Lucas he wanted to make a James Bond and Lucas said well here’s an idea that I gave
Indy should never be recast or continued with another actor. The only other actors that have the right to play Indy are Sean Patrick Flannery, Corey Carrier and River Phoenix.
He not american version of James Bond, he not as smooth as bond or elegant as Bond. Indy is a bum when dressed in his Indy gear, he has fears, he gets beaten up big big strong villains. When he a teacher, he an scholar, lecturer, historian basically a book worm, a geek, a nerd. These things James Bond is most certainly are not, so l disagree on this statement.
@@NutrejaSFD yes and they purposely made him into that now.
@@NutrejaSFD It's not 1:1. American mythos is strongly built on the west, exploration, works more with a rugged adventurer type than a refined gentleman
Anyone else as happy as I am to see our boy Sallah again?
Yeahh, Sallah, all the way 🙌😉
i know that they know about the gardians of the galaxy volume 3 trailer but I can wait to hear them telling about how jay yet again needed to go back for that trailer.
I feel like this trailer took me back as kid when I would watch the Indiana Jones movies with my dad. I got that hit of nostalgia so much. I didn’t get that feeling with the other-Indy-film-that-shall-not-be-named.
Ah yes..."The Realm of the Zirconium Head"
This is also the last film John Williams will be composing the score for, so the fact that the theme hit SO HARD in this trailer makes me know that the score in this movie is going to be TOP NOTCH
Did anybody else notice the stinger at the end of the trailer, with Harrison's fine whip handling, lampshades the "bringing a sword to a gunfight" moment in Raiders of the Lost Ark? That was just perfect for me, especially since he trained so hard with the whip for that fight, and never got to show it off in combat.
I actually cried watching this trailer. There hasn't been anything involving Indiana Jones in nearly 20 years. Unlike Star Wars where they had The Clone Wars and other shows and movies this was so long waited. It felt as if it was never going to happen.
There was a 4th Indiana Jones movie in 2014
@@mctucks No there wasn't.
@@mctucks 2008 and if you mean The Force Awakens it was in 2015
Well I reckon seemed as if never going to happen understandably from how wrong they got the last Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and so for a while was likely case of, how do we get this back to the glory days that all the movies were before that anomaly of the 4th one. But well, trailer does look awesome so, hope is high!
@@mctucks you have no proof about it, and nobody on the internet will accept that statement
I love seeing the NYC street scenes as they were actually shot in Glasgow Scotland. I walk those streets daily and can easily spot them even under all the cgi add ons. The did well on the little details and shop fronts they look great during filming.
TLoU series has scenes that were filmed in my city so I'm nerdishly looking forward to the same thing.
seeing Harrison Ford at D23 being so emotional when talking about this. cried then...and here i am with 😭
So, how far did Jay get when y’all learned about the Guardians trailer?
🤣 Didn't even make it out the door.
What was up today with all the insane trailers? Lol
@@mitchelsmith5643 CCXP (Brazil Comic Con)
Wathing the intro AFTER watching the GOTGvol3 video is making me crying laughing, thinking of what is to come 😂😂 Also, the GOOSEBUMPS the music gives! This looks so good!
the beauty of Indiana Jones is that we all wish we could be him or go on adventures with him. That music is instantly recognizable and always brings a smile to my face no matter where I am. I know most people despised Crystal Skull (I liked it) so I know that this installment may be a huge redemption on that front. Regardless I will love Indy no matter what, he brings such a sense of adventure, history, comedy and friendship to the screen that we long to see in movies. I am looking forward to seeing this on the big screen.
I enjoy your reactions a lot! Thank you for them. They make my smile, laugh, and cry. ❤
and now there's a Gotg Vol 3 trailer lol
And to bring it into The Dresden Files, y'know how the book covers always show Harry with a hat, but he doesn't wear one in the books? He hates hats? Jim Butcher has said a few times that there are certain items that have enough power behind it from peoples faith, and one of them is sitting in a museum in Chicago. Methinks Harry might be wearing Indy's fedora in part of the big apocalyptic trilogy.
Jay, I was SO happy to see someone else have the EXACT same reaction I did, when that theme music kicked in. :')
WHEN WE CRY.....WE ARE REMINDED HOW WE LOVED BEING KIDS...AND HOW MUCH THE FUTURE....FAILED OUR DREAMS.
Guys get ready this weekend, Brazil comic con started today, those trailers were all out after their respective panels + Kevin Feige and the cast of Quantumania was there to close the night. Expect more trailers bc the event will last the whole weekend.
Great news hopefully we get another secret invasion trailer as well.
@@iraford5788 The Marvel panel was today, so I don't think we will have more marvel content. They dropped the GOT3 and a special about Scott Lang journey in the MCU (with footage from the new movie on the end idk if there was any new stuff in comparison with the teaser). The panel was centered on Quantumania, aside from Kevin... Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, the director and the guy playing Kang were there. That was it from marvel unfortunately, I wish Zoe Saldana were on the MCU panel too, she was there promoting Avatar 2 in an earlier panel. Today was everything Disney, that why Indiana Jones dropped too. But expect more things from other franchises until sunday, Pedro Pascal (who was there today on the The Mandalorian panel) will be back Saturday with the cast of The last of us... And Keanu Reeves will attend too but I'm not sure if he will be promoting something.
Indy is totally going into the quantum realm, saving Ant-Man and popping out at the start of WWII again. 🙂
I'm here for it.
And then changing his name to Thunderbolt Ross.
Cautiously optimistic because of Crystal Skull, and Steven and George not being involved. But can't deny this trailer made me pumped and emotional. Legit wasn't expecting it today lol.
My first thought was "ehh another Indiana Jones movie" and by the end it was "damn you music you've hooked me in (maybe)".
When that iconic music swells I have cried *every single time* I’ve watched this trailer so far. I had no interest in another one of these after Crystal Skull until I saw the trailer. James Mangold for the absolute WIN.
_picks up hate_
*everyone:* _gasp_
*this guy:* _crazy laughter_
I love your reviews and insights but I love your friendship even more.
There's no time-jumping, etc. The "young" Ford scenes are from a flashback that opens the film that takes place in 1944 that introduces Mikkelsen's character and the MacGuffin. The plot *does* involve a machine capable of time travel, but it's all about stopping it from being able to work. The "dial" is the piece that would enable it to work and for Mikkelsen to go back in time and make Hitler win WW2. Indy has to stop him from getting his hands on it as well as stopping NASA from getting their hands on it, as they'd use it for military purposes - so he's fighting Mikkelsen as well as the CIA, basically.
As soon as the theme kicked in........ instant yes.........just.......yes. I'm with Jay, the theme is ingrained in my soul and will always make me overwhelmed with emotions. It was a highlight of my life seeing Indiana Jones and the last crusade in theaters for an anniversary re release
So excited for this
Harrison on the horse reminded me of years ago he was on Letterman. The two of them went out, mounted horses and rode down the street.
You guys make reaction vids fun, I never miss any of them.....plus Fix-it. 😝
You're like family now.
.....hmmmm, don't know if that's good or bad. 😂🤣😅😆😁😄
Indiana Jones, America's Bond....EXCELLENT 👍👍
This is my childhood right here. So happy to be back.
He's not the American James Bond because Bond already existed in books and was clearly defined in that medium. Ford defined Indiana on screen.
George and Steven both said that Indy was a response to their want to make a James Bond movie. The idea of making movies every few years has great value.
Watching these in reverse order that you made them is hilarious.
gatdamn Indy made me cry. it's like seeing your grandpa back in action. in a good way. in a very very good way. looks like i'll be going back to the theatre since the start of the pandemic for the first time.
Can't wait for this
Looking forward to this. I watched the horse chase scene getting filmed. Looking forward seeing how it ties in with the rest of the film.
Yes! The Adventures of Young Indian Jones!! River Phoenix was amazing and we mourn his loss, but we need more of that series. Reboot that series, please and thank you!!
Yea this one is special I was 4 years old in 1981 watching Dr. Jones !!! Please set down before you fall down. This brought tear to my four eyes. This is cold as hell yo !!! 😎🥶
They are doing the "glin glin" music at the beginning and then BOOOM the Raiders theme hits. Which is exactly what they did at the Force Awakens first trailer.
Oh boy, sorry about Guardians 3 Jay.
Aight, they're getting my hopes up!
Amazing trailer 😊
My guess: WWII prologue, setting up the enemies and artifact, with the rest of the movie taking place in the 60s (1969, if I'm not wrong?). Maybe the occasional flashback inbetween. I very much doubt it'll involve time travel.
Me: "Uhhhh, please let this movie not be terrible"
Trailer: (buh buh buh baaaaa)
Me: (prints map to closest theater and slowly draws red line from my house to it while music plays)
That de-aging of Ford was incredible. It was very brief here in the trailer, so we’ll see how it plays out when he starts talking, but at first glance … it looks damn near flawless.
Never thought about it like this, but you are absolutly right!
"Please", james bond that shit! 😄
Yeah this movie takes place in 1969, it’s Operation Paperclip. There are flashbacks though that have Harrison and Mads de-aged.
I am Jay. Jay is me. His reactions are mine, every single time. Crying twins 😭
6:50 Dad of war, Dadnarok. Jedi Falling over.
Have always wanted them to do something involving Excalibur. Sword/Hall of Kings? Blood of Kings(Highlander reference)? Someone manages to steal the Grail and the Ark and Excalibur is the only thing that can destroy them and undo the word of God(all of creation). Indy has to find a descendant of Arthur to return the sword to the Lady of the Lake or trap it in stone.
Adventure movies are my favorite genre purely b/c of this franchise & The Mummy. Such a shame it seems to be so hard to pull off well. My hear was so happy watching this trailer. Great vid guys!
I think I read somewhere this could be one of John Williams last movies? Disgusting how many iconic themes that man has created
My gosh. The score hits. And I'm BACK to my pre teen years. Nice...I'm invested!
I'm super hyped for this movie. I wonder if we'll see him lose his eye.
*Puts on his old man hat* I remember when Return of the Jedi was the last Star Wars movie there was ever going to be, EVER. I remember as a kid having to scour garage sales for Star Wars action figures because they were all discontinued. Nobody was ever going to make any more; the movies were over. I was SO happy to get the Ewoks Caravan of Courage movie because at least it was SOMETHING. Now, today, with a new Star Wars show or movie every year, there will always be more. I don't CARE if I have to watch 3 terrible Star Wars movies for every great one, because that's the price you pay for keeping a franchise evergreen. It's far better than the alternative-no more, ever again.
I want a great afterlife for Indiana Jones. Crystal Skull didn't diminish or take anything away from Raiders of the Lost Ark, and new Indiana Jones movies, even if they're terrible (and they won't ALL be terrible), will not hurt the originals or rob me of my childhood. They'll keep the magic going for new generations. I'm on board.
"But even if some of them suck?"
Yes, even if... no, ESPECIALLY IF some of them suck. These were George & Steven's homage to pulp serials. Let that tradition ride. I'll be there.
I was thinking the same thing as Jay, they need to bring back or reboot the Young Indiana Jones series. It was so good. One of the most underappreciated series of all time.
Enters GOTG vol 3.
Adam and Jay are simply awesome 😉
Shocked you guys didn't talk more about that de-aging part where they took the hood off Indy. He looked INCREDIBLE!
I get it. The theme pulls on my heartstrings as well. Love Indiana Jones.
Yep I’m crying. I knew it was gonna happen idc I love this so series so much.
Amazing
It makes me feel like a kid again. I saw Raiders in the theater so it’s near and dear. 😊
It would be great if Short-Round made an appearance in this movie!!!!!!! Who would you choose as the new Indiana Jones??
I believe this is supposed to take place in the 60s
Magnificent. I can hardly wait till june......
I didn’t think of time jump, with the title “dial of destiny” I was thinking of alternate timelines
One last adventure baby!
7:46 for future reference. NICE.
I feel like we cant really BondCast Indy though because we never saw Bond old and it was like "007" and "Bond" was almost a changing moniker where Indiana Jones is basically just his name and we have already seen him down the time line of when he is older if we didnt have this and Crystal Skull it would be more do-able. HOWEVER in in the Lost Ark that warehouse is stuffed full of creates so there could be an offshoot in world movie series about how and what those boxes are because there would have to have been people like Indy to find those crates.
I love when trailers give you guys the hidden middle finger. LOVE IT
I usually don't watch trailers, but thankfully this one did not give too much away. so I'm happy!
i heard the music ... i heard that frackin' music and i screamed and threw my hands in the air and oh frack, i am ready!
when i heard they were going to do Indy 5, i didn't know if i needed it. i was wrong. i was very VERY wrong. also, i need a hat and a whip.
Loved that so much! If anyone can make a great aged-hero movie out of Indiana Jones its James Mangold!
After ripping out hearts and still being alive, I didn't mind the refrigerator thing.
Today was a good day for movie lovers.
Please tell me you guys were still in the studio when you heard that the GotG Vol. 3 trailer dropped as well.
Agreed. Harrison is awesome as Indiana Jones, but I'd love to see someone else take on the character. Need to see about 5 movies based in the 20s, 5 more in the 30s, and about 10 in the 1940s.
2:59 The Millenium Falcon jajajaja
And the LEGENDARY John Williams is back to compose for this. Plus it's his last movie ever 😭.
2:59 so Indiana is piloting the millennium falcon
The nostalgia is good with this one
Harrison Ford said "No one else ever will play Indiana Jones while I am alive."
luv how they are able to use the de-aging to bring us back to those days.....guided by his older self - like a grandfather telling the children a story at christmas
I think this will be time travel and it's a way to recast. I've been saying for a long time that Indiana Jones is about the adventure and mythology. Anyone can play the character. How the character is portrayed is dependent on who's telling the story.
Fun fact George’s idea for indy was because Stephen Spielberg wanted to do a James Bond movie
Mads Mikkelsen has been in all the major franchises now.
The sound of that bullwhip crack is iconic and nostalgic all at once.
I have a hard time believing that racing Tuk Tuks would be that dramatic in real life. The things have a max speed of 24mph.
2:59 Indy in the Falcon?
Rumor has it that time travel erases Indy from existence and that fleabag woman becomes the new Indy
