- Massive pro-Palestinian protests filled the streets around Columbia University after more than 100 student arrests earlier this week when the university president called in the NYPD to help clear an encampment set up on campus. NBC News’ George Solis reports on the demonstrations spreading to other universities.

The SJP (Students for Justice in Palestine) gets funds from the AMP (American Muslims for Palestine ) which has direct ties with Hamas. Hamas directs the SJP through various proxies and the SJP has a chapter on dozens of American college campuses today including Columbia University.

Bizarre. At best, this is an implicit form of protest. If, for instance, this protest is 100% successful, the best that can happen is that Columbia University divests from investing in Israel. This may or may not affect the war in Gaza. This may or may not help the average Palestinian. If the primary intent is to stop Israel's war in Gaza, these protestors should be at the Capital building in Washington, DC. They should be occupying the offices of representatives and senators who support Israel, in their home districts and home states. These are the politicians who have the most power to stop the war in Gaza.
It's easy to criticize when you're at home doing nothing.
The students can't go to DC because finals start in two weeks. Maybe they'll go and protest during their summer break.
