- The Bruins beat the Canadiens 5-4 in OT in Game 4 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, to tie the series at 2-2, on April 21, 2011. Highlights include the entire OT, and Ference's middle finger to the Montreal crowd at the end of the video.

Every time I watch these highlights...I am amazed at just how insane Timmy Thomas played.

Every time I see these I think to myself: It’s not a coincidence that our only Cup came the year Thomas took over for Rask. Rask is a good goalie in the regular season but once the playoff start I lose all hope we can win when he’s in net and I’m constantly (unfortunately) proven right. His stats in games where his team faces elimination are not good at all! Is it ALL his fault? Of course not but when you’re giving up 4-5 goals I don’t care if the offense isn’t scoring goals, that’s not good enough or if you’re blowing a game 6 when we are down 3-2 in the series and up 2-1 in the game with LESS THEN 2 MINUTES LEFT IN THE GODDAMN GAME AND YOU GIVE UP NOT ONE BUT TWO GOALS WITHIN 30 SECONDS! I don’t care if people want to call me a “hater”, because frankly I am, I do hate rask in terms of on the ice and I have for his whole career, he’s Peyton Manning WITHOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Rask is a great goaltender, in the regular season. Once the pressure starts he chokes. Thomas was a clutch goalie, and the main reason we arent in a 50+ year drought.

As a Bruins fan, guys like Carey Price are the reason why I dread meeting Montreal in the playoffs. He made some amazing saves, and deserves to be treated so much better than his home fans treat him.
I remember being so freaking mad after the 5:32 goal. Thought the season was over. And then they went on to win the Cup. Unfuckingreal.
Yep back when we had a goalie who wouldn’t shit his pants in high pressure games (even if it was only for one season) and maybe we can get back to that with Vladar but we don’t have it and never have had it with rask

Back when we had a goalie who won big pressure filled elimination games!! Well I hope Swayman can pick up where Thomas left off! It’s not a coincidence that the only cup we won was the year Tuukka WASN’T in net after Thomas won the starting job that season!

This is the game that turned everything around for Boston. It was after this one that they showed everyone they were a team that wasn't going to go away easy. And it all starts with that Ference goal and the big F U to everyone in that building who didn't believe and thought they were buried! Boston Bruins STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!
I forget how absolutely deadly the canadiens can be offensively. This was a hard fought series and a great win. So many times it could've went another way and there would have been no cup!

This is one of my favorite Bruins games of all time....3-1 lead for the Habs might have been our season but they fought and won the whole thing. Never will forget this game 4
Also the penalty killing at the end… MTL scores on that power play and history looks way different and not so pretty for the B’s
I remember thinking we were cooked after being down 3-1 in this game because of past history of disappointment and the general jinx Montreal had us under. When they came back to win it was the beginning of a new order of expectation

Habs diserved to lose this series, when you blow a two games to none lead then blow 3-1 lead and lose in overtime you simply don't diserve to win.
The Habs were never up 3-1 in this series. The Bruins have NEVER come back to win a series when down 3-1 in a series.

Montreal fans are starting to realize that he is pretty amazing. I did the year Boston won the cup. He was reason that we even got into the first round. This year, though, it appears that he actually has a team around him, so Montreal could be a legit threat this year if they keep playing good hockey. The 2-1 loss to the B's last night definitely didn't help too much, but we played decent and a lot better than last year's team. New coaching, new GM and a new philosophy seem to be working.

In all the highlights I've seen of games at the Bell Centre, I almost think it might be a law in Montreal to stand up and throw your hands in the air when the Canadiens score.
I think the only law in Canada is that when your player gets nailed with a great check, you’re required to pull out your cell phone and report the player to 911!

I love how some Habs fans say the goal should of been disallowed saying the offsides was "obvious," then they go on to explain how they had to watch it in slow mo, then pause it, to see Kellys skate just barley offsides. My question is, if you had to do that much to see it, how do you expect the refs to see it during real time game play? Also, if you want to play that game, the two habs Powerplays...absolute bull.

SPORTSNET experts say the same , cause they have all these video equipment to be able to slow it down ( wich ya cant do with youtube ) but i was lucky enough to pause it at the exact time and its plain as day , dude.. ,, IT WAS O>S , but It was too close for the refs to have seen it ! wich sometimes is part of the game , and we have to deal with it, so game #5 will be interesting
@Syllandry Most of the 24 cups came due to the fact that they back then they got all the top players they wanted out of Quebec but also got picks from Ontario and the rest of Canada and some from the U.S..Toronto ,NYR,Boston,Detroit,and Chicago got the scraps from Quebec and all 6 teams got what was left from the rest of the NHL ready players. So many people do not even know this happened but the NHL back then was run by thugs,it was a joke and so are about 10-12 Hab cup wins.

I understand why he left, he was worth more than Boston had cap room for, but I miss him too. He was under rated in the defensive end before the cup run.

ILive in Montreal and I hate the Habs with a passion, I use to have respect for them when scotty bowman coached in Montreal because back then he didn't stand for his players to flop and dive like today's Habs do. That is exactly why the Habs haven't won anything and will continue to not win anything unless they change their phillosophy.
Stuart McNair I don’t think they draft very well, they seem to be really petty in regards to the whole subban trade and they have no direction. They need to fire Marc Andre bergervin (speeding but their gm) and Claude julien. I know this comment is 4 years old but the Habs haven’t learned anything since this. Claude is a dinosaur and his system is overrated. If it wasn’t for Bergeron, ,archand, Ciara, recchi, sequin, boychuck, Thomas, Rask, siedenberg, kessel, krecji, lucic and iginla he would have been as bad as he is now in Montreal. He ruined kessel, segueing, spooner, wheeler and turned off jimmy vessey and doggie Hamilton to the Bruins. He’s horrible with young talent, unless they project to be slow 3rd or 4th line grinders. The Bruins from 2009-2016 should have easily won 2 cups and made a third. He made them play so tight, took all the fun and flow of the game away and you see what a coaching change has done to Boston. We went from missing the playoffs 2 straight years, underperforming in the playoffs the previous 2 seasons and was well on his way to missing his third straight playoffs. Bruins fire him, promote Cassidy and they’ve been one of the top 3 if not the best team since Claude firing *points wise. Bruins have given up the least goals in the nhl this season and are 5th-6th in goals for. Habs should clean house, see who plays better wi5h a different coach / system then make future decisions
pat442389 I agree. I’m a Bruins fan but I have to say that I have noticed that the Canadiens have been playing without any sort of direction for the last several years. They flop all over the ice and trade away talent. It’s a miracle they’re making the playoffs this year

Tremendous poise shown by those Bruins. Any other team would have gotten blown right out of the building once the Habs were feeling it as the game went to 3-1 Chanadiens. Amazing how a series can change just like that. Ferrence will be missed tremendously.

@MsBigito Do you know what the refs aren't paid to do? Aid your habs through penalty calls/non calls. But they do anyway. Either blame your own team, or give credit to the Bruins where it's due for coming back from 2-0 to take control of the series.
