    Deficit ain’t even that hard. It’s the fact that I’m an emotional eater so if anything in my life isn’t going good then I just binge and undo my progress and end up maintaining instead of losing

  • @rasalresid9147
    @rasalresid9147 Pƙed 2 lety +221

    The #1 thing is planned and structured diet, because the only way for your body to burn fat is to use it as energy. Basically, you need to eat below your energy maintenance level (in terms of calories) and your fat cells will be used to compensate the missing energy (calories). That's how your body works. There are other things to consider as well, such as hormonal status, diseases... but caloric deficit is a must. You have a lot of diet helpers and planners, like Next level diet for example (used it personally). Losing/gaining weight is just a simple math, really...

    • @thatsagoodone8283
      @thatsagoodone8283 Pƙed 2 lety +5

      I agree! Emphasis on "planned and structured". If you don't put in the time and effort to plan ahead, you will make decisions every day until it wears your willpower down.
      It's so much easier to set the foods for a day ahead of time. Keep it simple enough to follow, put in enough variation and dont starve yourself into submission. 500 kcal deficit a day is the maximum you should go for. Protect yourself from binge eating because your deficit was too big. :)

      @thatsagoodone8283 Pƙed 2 lety +7

      @@-vsplxshingv-7813 Its dependent from where you come from: Your starting weight and how much sport you are used to do. My best friend has not done sports in 10 years and went over 150 kg. I actually showed him Wills video about the walking challenge and told him that walking around is enough sport if he wants to lose weight. He ate healthy, walked 10k steps a day for weeks and lost 30 kg in 6 weeks. But those effects will not show in someone who is doing sports at least somewhat regularly or is better in shape.

    I find that the “worse” I eat, the better I feel. Sometimes I just feel so depleted but I always eat a rather large amount. When I feel depleted, I throw down a large cheese pizza and feel absolutely amazing and even less bloated the next day. Idk why but I’m starting to think I don’t eat enough calorie dense foods.

      Not necessarily.. if I eat a pizza the next day I feel empty and hungry too, because it's simple carbs and high fat with little protein but lots and lots of sodium, and so by morning my blood sugar is spiked and crashed and I'm starving and that is the cycle of how unhealthy food makes you hungry. Great video Will. Really struggling with myth #9 myself, after losing a lot of weight this year through dieting, keeping carbs low and being at a normal weight now (for the first time in my life actually) I pretty much became carbsphobic. I'm just now slowly learning that as long as I'm keeping an eye on my calorie intake it's fine to include them to my diet again.
    Also I fell in love with cauliflower rice and celery root fries as healthier options to potato fries and regular rice that also taste good so I highly disagree with myth #11.

      I feel you, even though I would describe myself more as selective carb-phobic - it's that the food that I like and is also high in calories is not filling enough for me to justify; bread, potatoes, rice, pasta - those are all incomplete until you add something else to it, and then the calorie count skyrockets. It's also the healthy X unhealthy kind of black and white thinking - of course I have no issues with fruit because fruit is _good for you_ and white bread is... not really giving you much? I have to say I was much worse with fats though
      And I really need to give cauliflower rice a shot. Does it keep in the fridge or in the freezer?

    You've cleared up a few things for me in this one for sure. I'm not resting enough between sets. Usually, I'll do a set, take a walk to get steps in...about 10-15 seconds of steps, and then jump into the next set...or...I'll perform a super set, then walk for 10-15 seconds, and jump right into my next super set. Another thing, I take part in a class at the gym 2 days per week, I don't lift on those days. The class is a combination of HIIT and Cross Fit. Some classes are harder than others, especially the "cardio" workouts, but I survive. I've gone to "full body" weight workouts 3 times per week...that is really awakening my body. Now, if I could just get my diet under control.
