I finally bought one of these, it does work. I can stay on plane about 3 mph slower than before. Boat is a '17 Boston Whaler Dauntless with 90HP Merc. Installation was only a few minutes. It really is easy. It comes out of the water easier too. My plaining went from about 18.5 to about 15.5 mph plaining speed.
I find this an interesting product as I just spent over $4,000 on a lower unit and replacement prop more than likely from hitting things in the water. I have a Aqua Patio with a Merc 200 outboard and live on a shallow lake and river. The boat is nearly a full tri-toon so it planes off well. My main interest in the product is protection. Yes more top end is always nice. I will have to do more research on the product. To Evan you should take video lessons from someone like the guy from Project Farm. 1) What was top end BEFORE the install compared to after and use similar water conditions. 2) Same for time to plane off. What was time before and after install with same boat and weather conditions. 3) REALLY what was the point in starting the boat outside the water!
Bragging about 48 MPH. That tells us nothing unless we see it WOT without the H-S. For all we know, the boat did 53MPH before the H-S.
Right side = Starboard, Left side = Port
Port = Left, Starboard = Right
6:43 Did you start your boat up without any water supplied to the pickup? You will cause noticable damage to your impellor in just a few seconds of it spinning dry.
And that don't take long. I guess when I was young and stupid I did that.
Does it stay on plane at a lower speed than without the foil?
Would love to know what was the top speed before the installation of Hydro ?
Top speed before the install of the Hydro-Shield was 50mph with a 22 pitch prop. We got it up to 55mph with the same prop and Hydro-Shield over the summer on a fairly calm day. If we change the prop we could see more mph, but our prop is better for out of the hole takeoff rather than overall top speed.
@@evanlande2015 Bullshit.. this will not gain speed..
@@philldownes8685 Sorry to inform you buddy, but we did gain some speed. Thanks for the view.
@@philldownes8685 😂lol.all it does is protect tbe prop.theres no way it makes it go faster.my main concern would be hitting a stump or rock & that thing get bent up into the prop & do some serious damage.
for christ sake its so bloody easy to line it up.......... lower the engine with a spirit level on the anti-cavitation plate and get that level by lowering or raising the trailer front jack nice and steady.. now hold up the foil and get that level then drill the bloody holes...... these things are failures anyway.. more trouble than you might think..
I can see trouble in this as well
Bent up in the prop
My boat has plowing problem when it get on plane due to the weight of my trolling motor.... it doesn't matter the angle of my trim. grr.
May be this is the solution... better portance.
This proved absolutely nothing!
mine broke on 1st day of use of the hydro plane lmao. piece of trash IMO.
