    Thanks for a genuine and informative video. I am slowly adding to my KLR , but mostly riding and trying to think of why I might need another farkle. Considering new mirrors, handlebar risers, and the dash - I really liked yours. My current USB outlet is only working on one side and cannot be turned off. Just finished 5,000 miles to Canada. Prudhoe Bay in 2020.

    Truly enjoyed your video sir. Great job, I plan to make that trace trip soon. Congrats on your weight loss as well. It is not as easy to loose weight. Good job on that, and I know this video is from a few years ago, I hope you are still doing well with your weight as well. Keep up the fun videos, Subbed your channel as well. Just fun fact, my other vehicle is a Jeep as well. Good stuff, I have a fender bag mounted on my bike in the same place you put your tool tube.

    Great, well thought-out additions to your KLR. I really dig those camo versions.
    Congrats again on the weight loss. I'm trying to loose weight (again, it gets harder to take it off when a guy is over 50.) Clothes are fitting better so it's a start for me.

      Cut out all eating out and processed foods. Little to no sugar, and fruit in moderation for sugar. Water, tons of it; 6-8 glasses minimum. Four to six ounces of meat. Nuts by the handful. Green vegetables.

    Awesome farkles! I've got the same panniers, but for off road, I used some surplus Alice packs as side panniers and they fit perfectly! I've added a few items to my list....from your list. Congrats on the weight loss, brother! I started keto back in July and went from 217 to 185 in Sept, been maintaining! I tease people that is the easiest way to add 5hp to the KLR!

    You have a nice klr mate! and great trade skills and good taste.
    My KLR is heavily modded too . Its a classic green and black 2014 model . Bought as a wreck low sided very low KMs , and totally restored. I have many of your mods including oxford grips, led lights, led driving lights (switch by hi/lo beam and separately) some ideas for you include. voltmeter usb plug with on off switch , vital to prevent insipient drain. rox risers, Pro taper ATV hi bars( awesome) Shorai lithium battery with smart charge cable. Akropovic exhuast off an exc450 with no baffle and custom header, easy 10 more ponies. sounds awesome, Wilbers high spec suspension complete replacement .(blue spring, high and lo speed compression and rebound adjustment) you will be amazed when you drop the front stock springs they are only about a foot long, total rubbish. throw them and the big spacers in the bin, install the wilber springs and oil kit. also mines got a remote hydraulic pretensioner on the rear shock.. i had to lose the pillion pegs to fit it . i can jump washouts and not case the bike out, you can feel the damping working.
    Dunlop 606 best tyres, hard wearing and very good grip on dirt, adequate on bitumen. shorten side stand 20mm and weld a 3mm wire loop on it like the BMW to make it easier to work with your boot. Shad rear box and sw motoech 700 dry bag( a cavern), great combo luggage. bark busters with storm guards. I hope you like my comments and can get some inspiration for your next steps. klrs are great bikes, classic old school long stroke single. ive got other bikes of all types and even gs1200 and 800 tiger and kato , i still reckon the klr is the best workhorse trail bike. cheers , Col (from Australia)

    Nice KLR! I wanted the camo version but it sold before I got to the dealer, ended up with the solid black. I had my GPS unit mounted to the KLR upper dash but noticed the whole thing was vibrating around when off the pavement. This caused the upper dash to rub on the gauge cluster which caused gouges in the plastic. Have you seen this with your phone mounted there? I've done many of the mods you've got, luv my KLR.

  • @bryansovich2
    @bryansovich2 Před 4 lety +1

    I thought I would ask if you don't mind. I love everything you did! I would like to have my 2017 camo klr650 setup just like yours. I am just wondering how much do you think you have in the mods? Just trying to understand what I am up against. And I am trying to do all the work myself. I don't know about the doohickey make it a mechanic to do that. Just talking about parts.

    • @RankinetotheRescue
      @RankinetotheRescue  Před 4 lety

      I have probably spent $2500.00 in mods and upgrades. That being said, some of those aren't really a necessity. such as LED headlight and tail light, LED dash bulbs. I have also replaced the doohickey and removed the choke cable. I have done extensive mods. Glad you liked the video and I would say just make the mods that fit your riding style. I do a lot of moto camping so certain mods are important to me and maybe not necessary for your riding style. Have a great day and keep watching!!

    Lots of great mods, on your bike, I have a 2013 not a great fan of Happy Trails crash bars, they seem weak to me. The Doohickey is must, I could never understand why the part wasn't a forced consumer recall, over the years, something that the dealers should have backed, but didn't.

    Subframe bolt kit.. are you doing the drill through or just replacing the bolts? I did the drill through and in my opinion you should just replace the bolts and use red loctite and proper torque.. mine came out well but I’m convinced replacing the bolts only will be more than strong enough.. just my two cents..

    • @RankinetotheRescue
      @RankinetotheRescue  Před 5 lety

      Supertrucker207 I just used the new upgraded bolts and ordered an extra set and yes I did put Loctite on them. I thought that drilling through the entire frame was a little excessive in my opinion.

    White over Red... Na Zdrowie... !!! How do you like the power of the KLR... ??? I own a 2018 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and I might trade it in this exact bike... I don't need a 160 HP machine as well as a $ 17K machine... I ride a 2018 YZ 250X on the dirt anyways to rip... My KTM is sweet, but, not needed for the type of riding I do... Seriously that 160HP does not even feel that fast... A very smooth power, but, not needed for $ 17K... I like the KLR price points... Cheers... !!!
