Thanks for the great scoop here! When the 2022s become available (in summer?) I'll have a good look, and hopefully a demo ride. A conversion to tubeless tires would be of interest, also.

The trick to highway pig is adding a bit more grunt and dropping that rear sprocket. A 685 or 705 kit + porting + carb jet and tune, gets you another 10-20% more power and pulling a tooth on the rear sprocket gets you to that stable feel at 70-80 mph. Great video

Great video. I have had close to 20 “ADV” bikes and still love my KLR best.

That was a fantastic video on the KLR. I’ve been thinking of getting one and your video was very helpful and informative

Mine was an old Honda CR250 2 stroke with large baja tank and an extra gas jug. I couldn't go super far, but could get lost. Been doing BDR type stuff since the 80s

Great video. Good tip on the marking the rim ad tire. Especially for me being new to adventure riding, thanks. Your past bikes have been on my short list, the blackbird is just sexy, and the Valkyrie has had my attention since it came out in 1998. Someday I will pick one up. Cheers!

Great video and very practical build. Miss my 08 dearly, wish I hadn't sold it. I had a short stint on a WR250R as well but I actually preferred the KLR to it.

I went from a older klr600 before the 650s and electric starts. I missed it so much, now i finally found a decent klr650.

Very helpful video. Love the fork and shock upgrades. The cases look like Caribou case system.

Very Good Video... one rim lock per rim, heavy duty tubes and Shinkos. Great combination.

My klr is very similar. I went with a jet-kit for the card and bigger front sprocket. I can now cruise at 85-90 mph no problem. Just right for an older guy like me.

I live in SLC too, so yeah sounds like I need something with more oomf.
Too bad cause I love the value proposition from the KLR. Cruising at 90-95mph on my Bonneville T120 is nice.

I’ve got a 2006 klr got it form a guy that lied to me and was hiding things wrong with it. Now it’s in parts and I’ve lost a lot of Motivation on putting it back after losing my job and getting put on probation

    🤣Ohhh the memories.
PO of the infamous 08 oil burning lump😑.
Yes, I did tour on it..
Yes, I did not enjoy it..
Yes, I traded it for a 650 Vstrom.
No, I will not consider another one. It served its purpose. I'm currently on a S10👍.

Great upgrades. The bike looks fantastic. I definitely need to set up a second switched fuse box for my KLR. For yours, did you use a relay and go off an ignition switch supply. I'm thinking of doing that and splicing into the license plate light supply. Great video.

    • @UTADV
      @UTADV  Před 3 lety +2

I kept it simple and went with a breaker off of continuous power, forcing me to be careful to extinguish the Equinox lights. I wanted constant power to phone and GPS.

Thanks for your analysis. The moment you mention "Triumph Tiger 800" I went straight to a revue of that bike! They gave me a "dry" weight of 208 Kg.. Why dry ??? Do they expect me to ride it empty ??? Also, I came across the Triumph slogan "Don't be a pussy, ride a Tiger"... Hélas I'm a 74-year-old pussy who rode a BMW Scarver 650 mono-cylinder from 2005 'till 2015 & now rides a 2010 Yamaha MT03 660cc which is about the heaviest bike (190Kg full) I can ride with a serene mind :)

The Kawasaki factory could do a lot worse than have this guy give consumer feedback on their current, next adventure bike. Pretty amazing knowledge ability to find, install upgrade items superior to the standard factory gear.
