Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your work. I especially appreciate the website and the way posts are made, including ones with videos that include transcriptions. There's an objectivity to all your guides and work that is SO refreshing. Thank you very much.
I'm so glad they finally synced up calendar and reminders.
Since I'm using Outlook (company) on my Mac, it is very interesting to see that what Microsoft did in 1995 is only coming to Mac now....
Looking forward to this; I could never get into using Reminders because I thought it was inefficient to have it separate from Calendar.
I couldn’t agree more. 👏🏻
It’s really cluttered I. The first developer beta.
Clear and concise. Thanks again!
Thank you, very informative 🙂I was hoping you would make this video. There are lots of videos after a new macOS is introduced, but yours are always the best.
Thank you.
Always an amazing work! Thanks Gary!
Nice improvements. I appreciate you getting into every nook and cranny of MacOS, Gary, and sharing those insights. I also appreciate how you focus on native functionality and behavior rather than on third-party apps). Looking forward to more of these as you explore!
Great summary Gary.
i remember when you had less that a 100K subsribers. I couldnt believe it given the quality of your content. Now you guys are growing exponentially! Amazing work, Gary!
Very good video as always Gary. Thanks.
This looks like a really cool upgrade!
Thanks for the heads up. There are some useful updates and new features coming along. I like the link between reminders and calendar will be very handy when you need to set deadlines for things to do.
Excellent as always. Reminders in Calendar looks very useful.
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! 👏❤️
Gary, another excellent video.
Much better than the news articles I've read on this.
Love the vintage mac background! Thanks for showing that.
Since my last name is Sequoia I’m rather chuffed!
Nice quick intro. Looking forward to the detailed videos.
i really love all these updates and features they're adding to their notes app! its quickly becoming my go to tool for notetaking so i can't wait for the new features.
Thanks, Clear & Concise
Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! Really looking forward to the new window tiling.
They should’ve done that years or decades ago. How long has Windows had that? Hopefully, someday you can click on a dock app and make the window appear or disappear. Another nice feature of Windows.
Thanks Gary! Outstanding like always. 🙂
That retro ought to be pretty cool. I remember OS9 on my G3 iMac. Those were the days. Or, so I thought at the time. Looking forward to Sequoia.
I really hope that they support widescreen monitors with thirds for the snap mode. This is very effective in Windows.
Hadn't considered that there may be more options for different screen sizes. Don' have an ultra-wide to test, but if that is the case I'm sure it will be reported soon.
love that retro wallpaper , hopefully it will appear in previous os ( Monterey )🤞
Some good things coming. I dont normally look forward to updates, but this time I do.
That window tiling looks very useful. When you do your seperate tutorial could you also cover how this works with dual monitors.
Yes that iPhone on mac screen looks very interesting
Well done... Thank you.
The scene feature in Freeform looks great. I'm looking forward to the update.
Phone mirroring is a game changer!
Yes, that will be great for rearranging apps into and out of folders on the home screen... like we used to be able to do years ago (via iTunes, IIRC).
very good video , thanks
That is so cool. Can't wait!
Thank you 👏
Thanks for providing clear and concise content. I also wanted to check if macOS Sequoia has an option to disable the double-clickrequirement when using two monitors (one click to activate the monitor and the second click to pause or play a video, for example).
Nice that window tiling is coming, but the gigantic window title bars on most native apps makes it less useful in my opinion. Great video btw.
… and then Gary showed Sequoia’s Macintosh screensaver and a multitude of beautiful memories come flooding back - thank you 🙂
Another incremental release that builds on the solid OS!
I'm glad that we finally are getting some form of Windows Management; just a pity that it took so long.
Linux GNOME and KDE had that for many years; even Windows got it in Windows 11.
BUT - macOS is still better regardless! "Once you go Mac, you never go back!". 🙂
Window tiling will come in handy for me.
Great video~ as always! Honestly, I've learned everything about my Mac from watching your videos☺. Keep up the great work!
Quick question-how do you enable the 'Transcript' feature when recording notes in the new recording interface (as shown in your "Audio Recording & Transcript" video)? I'm using the latest version of macOS Sequoia DevBeta, but it doesn't appear for me🤨.
Nothing is needed to enable it as far as I can see. But you do have to make a new recording. Also, it won't work on older Macs I think.
Nerd-alert on the napkin-math of notes+calculator 😻
Any changes to Finder? Please.
Also yes please a deeper dive into the window snapping.
No, but I suppose we'll be able to do a lot of Finder things using AI once they get to that.
Thanks, very clear and useful :-) Will you perform Windows Tiling test by having multiple montors connected to your mac, swapping data/ windows between the monitors as well ?, Thanks in advance 🙂
Not initially, but probably get the chance to try that at some point.
Gary, Good preview. What's that accessory at 11:24? Might be something I need for my desk setup.
Looks like just a magsafe iPhone stand and charger. Lots of them available.
Hi Gary! Those highlights you made about macOS Sequoia are very interesting. I'm interested in many of them. From what I could see, it's not yet possible to adjust the window organization on the screen, is that right? It would be great if we could adjust both vertically and horizontally, wouldn't it? Thank you very much for the video. I will look forward to the next ones with great interest.
I don't know what you mean, sorry. "window organization" in what way?
I was wondering how this differs from something like Rectangle when I saw news articles indicating it had been “Sherlocked”. This video confirms that this is true.
I do wish that macOS had something like the tiling system in some Linux projects like Hyprland, which automatically tiles apps.
hi Gary, thanks a lot for very meaningful content! One question, is it possible to put smart folders in another folder in the notes app on sequoia? I‘m missing this feature a lot..
No, there's no nesting like that.
Thanks for the great update. It sucks that they aren't doing any "worthwhile" updates to the new OS.
So you find none of these worthwhile? You won't use any of this? Oh, and it doesn't cost anything to update a compatible Mac, so the "worth" part is hard to measure.
Good instructional video I am sure. Unfortunately, I will not be able to download Sequoia because my iMac is a 2018 model and is not supported by Apple anymore. I am beginning to think I should have stuck with a PC. 🤔
Plenty of choices out there.
Gary I have to ask, what is the whole Wombat thing? Have been down to Oz to see them? But like always fantastic video.
I just like them. When I need an example web page, it is a fun one to bring up.
@@macmost cool mate. Funny as an Australian I usually don’t give them much thought lol. I like your videos. Keep up the good work.
Phone mirroring for the win!
I wonder which of the tools that I own do the window snapping. I can do all that in my current system for quite a while
Are headings in notes also able to be collapsed via a keyboard shortcut?
Hi Gary , would have any advise about portable monitors for MacBook air? I need it for work while traveling and I just purchased my first MacBook air and new to everything. I'm also learning from your macmost courses. Thank you.
I've never used one of those little portables, sorry. If you have an iPad too, then Sidecar is probably best.
Tried a few, I ended up using my iPad Pro 12.9 as a second monitor. Amazing how these two work together.
@@turistsinucigas Yeah, an iPad is like a second screen, plus much more. (Plus a whole iPad). That's what I would probably do if I needed it.
@@macmost now I'm looking to buy an iPad , thank you all!
Hello sir, can you kindly make a video on Apple Mail. Is there a way to setup Apple Mail without downloading mails in your physical hard drive of your Macbook. Thanks
Yes and no. If you are using IMAP or a similar system (iCloud, Gmail) then you are basically viewing your email on the server, but a lot of local space is used for caching. It is with older systems (POP) that everything is downloaded. But if you mean completely online, with no cache, then you want to use a web email solution where you view your email in a web browser.
Hi Gary, looking forward to Sequoia but I have a different question and not sure of another way to contact you. I have just seen MAc Vision Pro in Apple’s website. It looks fantastic and I wondered if you will be introducing it to us in the near future. Thank you so much.
I've only done one video on it so far. czcams.com/video/2K8IfHVFCOA/video.html I did an overview for patrons when it came out.
Are there any news on Stage Manager? It's a great idea on paper, but it could use some tweaks
Seems the be the same.
Send later in messaging is a huge win. About time that feature was made available. Why would Apple take so long to offer this feature?
I hope the voice recorder allows very long recordings and transcriptions, e.g. a lecture.
A lot of these things seem like just fiddling about, not things that are actually useful. One thing I want under Accessibility is the ability to record one’s voice while on a phone call. People with ABI can’t recall information immediately as it’s spoken. So if someone telephones with a message about an appointment or something it’s lost if they aren’t patient enough to wait for you to find paper and pen, get them to repeat the information, and write it down or add to the calendar app.
That is in fact a new feature of iOS 18 (recording phone calls). A lot of these are small changes, but small changes that people have been requesting over and over for years.
Did the photo upload thing improve? Such as going to safari to upload a photo from photos app from the window and photos separated in album or same as current status quo where all 1 million photos jumbled in 1
No change there. I always just drag from the Photos app.
Hi Gary,
For the Iphone mirroring function ..for some reason I've not see my Iphone display on the dock. Noted that currently I am using the Mac OS 15 Beta and IOS 18 (beta version.
Please advise.
Watch this video. I say that it isn't in the beta yet.
Do you know if the Windows version of the Passwords app will allow you to sign in using passkeys? I guess not but that would be really cool. Although i think that's something related to the OS.
We'll have to wait and see.
Apple has packed a lot of features into everything, and I’m really happy about how this isn’t your typical “Oooh, new iOS wallpaper, and hey, something cool in Messages” kind of stuff they do every single year. There is stuff that actually makes a difference this year.
My motto for this year’s WWDC: “It looks the same, but it thinks different.”
Are you sure about that? I read it as when Sequoia comes out Apple Intelligence will be there, but marked as "beta." Apple has done that before with features. So I expect to see AI roll out in the beta tests this summer, release with Sequoia/iOS 18 in the fall as "beta" for everyone, and then the "beta" label will drop off later on. It is a way for them to say: "You have this new feature, but it may not work perfectly yet."
@@macmostOk, I remember now. They did say it was sometime in the summer. I corrected it. I still wish that it was included in the first developer beta. I also wish that it was compatible with my iPhone 12 and other iPhones. It’s only compatible with iPhone 15 Pro and later…
Would you know if we be able too view iPhone on Mac bigger than just iPhone size?
Not sure. We'll have to wait for that feature to get to the betas to see. In the end "bigger" would depend on your screen size anyway.
I've never used the Reminders app, between the Calendar and Notes I can do anything I want. I really hope Apple combines all three into one app, once the full AI is up and running. Fingers crossed.
A lot of us use Reminders primarily for to-do lists and idea lists. Those aren't something I'd want to see in the Calendar app.
Using the ( ) is not new, it's there in Sonoma. What appears different is the action display above the calculation, which is available in Sonoma on paper tape.
I was wondering if someone would mention that. Before you could do it, but it works very differently now. You SEE it, which makes it far more usable.
Password app - can you save credit card info and secure notes, does it have OTP functionality, auto-fill browser capabilities to replace my current password manager?
Credit cards are saved in Safari, Settings, Autofill. You can make your own entries and use those as notes if you like. Or use the Notes app. You can already do OTP for a few years now. It autofills in Safari, and other apps can use it via an API (but the developer must add it).
Hi Gary can you confirm if the Passwords app now works outside Safari (like in Edge or Chrome) or only limited to Safari?
Do you mean can Chrome access keychain passwords? The ability to do that was added with Sonoma. Whether Chrome USES that ability is up to the developer of Chrome.
@@macmost Yes I mean that. Oh, so now it's Google or Microsoft's job to implement that? I see
I would love a new “Pictures” app that would enable me to drag photos to actual folders and out of the big main library. I just don’t have the time to organise the thousands of photos with keywords, or whatever. I always miss a few.
If you don't "have the time to organise" then the Photos app would be even more useful to you, not less. You can just use the built-in organization and searching. No need to do anything at all.
Hi Sir, when I purchased my Macbook 3 years ago I had to pay extra if I wanted more GB storage. So I settled on what I could afford. Since then, Apple has kept introducing these new platforms, upgrades, etc and to be able to 'stay updated and supported', my GB is used. I find it somewhat sly. Or am I wrong in my thinking? Your thoughts?
If you bought an M1 MacBook with more than the base amount of memory then you will probably be fine. But it depends on what you use your MacBook for.
Will hot corners go away when tiling is initiated?
Tiling is when you are dragging a window. Hot corners are when you move the pointer to a corner (not dragging anything). So very different actions.
Sonoma updates to Sequoia ?
Finally an RPN calculator!
That's always been there. In the current app, look in the View menu.
Hi Gary, I can not figure how to sort files assending /dessending view by date created in gallery view. In the finder in gallery view it alway list the newest create by date file and have to scroll right to see the oldest. I am trying to get it to list the oldest file first at the bottom of the screen as the icon in the gallery view and scroll right to list the newest. This really should be simple to do but I can't get my mac to do it no matter which direct the files are sorted
I don't think you can reverse the order in Gallery View. I don't know what your goal is here, but you'll need to find another way to accomplish it. For instance, if your goal is to be able to preview images in a folder, use List View, sort as you like, and turn on Show Preview so you see a large preview of the file to the right side.
@@macmostthe reason is work flow, starting with the oldest picture first and work my way towards right to view the newest picture. Thank you for the response.
@@sidneyking11 You can still have that workflow. Just start at the other end. Or use the List View suggestion I send earlier.
Window Tiling. It's about bloody time they did this this.
Microsoft had a patent which expired.
@@ArthropodSpidey Really? I didn't know that.
Chrome os has had it for years too, no patent held them back

I can't seem to find on Apple's website which Macs will support Sequoia. Any ideas?
They have it right on the Sequoia page. Near the bottom. www.apple.com/macos/macos-sequoia-preview/
@@macmost Geesh. Not sure how I missed that. Thank you.
how would you rate the stability out of 10?
For the first developer beta? That's not really relevant. Not even a public beta yet. But that said, 0 crashes so far.
Tiled window management was already unnecessary, since you can hover over the green plus maximize button, and tile left and tile right. So they re-invented a feature Mac OS already basically had.
I am disappointed that the Mail app on the Mac hasn't been updated & integrated with the iPhone version. I create new Mailboxes on the Mac and store emails in them. Once I have moved them they are no longer available on the iPhone. Of course I may be doing something wrong.
They should be in sync. Of course it heavily depends on your email service provider. But using modern providers like Apple, Google or corporate/school IMAP then the Mail app is just showing you what it sees on the server. If you add a folder to your IMAP email, then you should see it everywhere. If you move a message, it should be reflected everywhere.
How have the Notes and Freeform apps not been combined yet?
They both have different uses and ways of working with them.
Some of this stuff actually looks useful, not just bells and whistles.
Hello! Can someone confirm whether or not this “new” tilling feature will also work in full screen mode? Please say yes 🙏 🙏
Sadly, the video omits full screen section. Thanks for a lot of useful intel though!
No, it can't. Full Screen means Full Screen. There is no Desktop, just a window that is the entire screen. No "tiling" is possible. There is already a Split View mode if that is what you are looking for.
@@macmost Thanks for a blazing reply :) and Yes, I was referring mainly to more options for Split View, in addition to already existing split in 2 mode - being able to view 3 or 4 apps full screen in similar manner would be much appreciated. Thus, sorry for being imprecise in the beginning,
Wait, where are all the important folders in the Photos App like Imports, Recently Added, Duplicates or Deleted? If they are gone that would be an absolute dealbreaker for me!
Still there. Under "Utilities" in the sidebar for the most part. And some new things too.
There's a bug in the Photos app for many years. When you enter a new tag for a photo and press enter, the cursor disappears, and you have to click on the tags field again to enter another tag. Can you tell me if this bug persists in macOS Sequoia? Thanks.
Guess what... ? Yes! It appears to have been fixed.
@@macmost Oh finally!! Thanks for answering.
How stable is it being a first beta?
Seems pretty stable. No crashes yet.
I desperately want to use Freeform frequently but the lack of organization keeps me off. Notes app has nested folders! Reminders app has different lists. Freeform? Just a useless, empty sidebar with only 4 general options. I really can’t stand having my personal mind maps, design wireframes for my work, and my plans like the living room redecoration all in the same place!
iPhone Screen, you can drag from your Mac to Screen, but can you drag from iPhone Screen to Mac Desktop?
We'll have to wait and see. You can already copy and paste for many years though.
my beta version of Sequoia 15 does not recognize my password for Netflix...any known work around ?
Not sure what you mean. Netflix is not integrated into macOS, it is just a web site. You'll need to reset your password or contact Netflix support.
Window tiling has been in Windows forever, exactly the same as this feature
I wonder how the new windows management is going to work with stage manager. My instinct tells me, not very well.
Works exactly as you would expect. It is just an easier way to move and resize the windows. There's no difference compared to resizing the windows in Sonoma to be in the same positions.
@@macmost was just wondering if it works while you have stage manager engaged?

Am i crazy? I see the window tiling option but i cant turn on. Is there a setting that would help me enable this?
So you see the three switches in System Settings, but they are off and you can't turn them on? Not sure why that would be. It is a beta though. So report the problem.
@@macmost yes. they're greyed out and cannot click
@@ronelgem23 Make a beta report.
Iphone mirroring would have made more sense to bring to vision pro than to the mac.
Hopefully it will be there too at some point.
Accessing your phone via your mac sounds like a security risk - what if someone else is using your mac at the time?
Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean they’re NOT out to get me!
Why would someone else be using YOUR Mac? If they can log into your Mac already, then they have access to everything at that point. Why are you letting other people know your password and access your Mac. And note that your iPhone would need to be there, this is not a remote thing. The iPhone needs to be with the Mac.
Please ask every Apply employee you encounter to add a "Financial" mode to the new calculator app in addition to the Basic, Scientific, and Math Notes app.
A "Financial" mode would handle PV, FV, PMT, N, & I.
This is where to do that: apple.com/feedback
@@macmost Thanks, but I clicked on the link. The "Calculator" app is not listed. I checked twice. There wasn't an "Other" option.
@@jimgrant1776 Just find the closest thing.
@@macmost I did. I picked the "Numbers" app. Thanks for your help.
Have they finally added a useable “auto reply” for mail, when someone goes on leave. 🤦♀️
You usually set that up with your email service, not your Mail app. You need it to auto-reply on the server and not rely on your device being on and checking email constantly.
As I see, they haven't added an ability to draw on MacOS in freeform. It's the reason I have to use 3rd party solutions...
when is this coming? sonoma 14.5 is just untolerable rn
In the fall just like every other year. What problems are you having with Sonoma?
@@macmost some shortcuts don't work on Sonoma 14.5
@@deepayanbiswas4488 Do you mean the screen capture-related Shortcuts issue? There's a workaround for that. And it would be 14.6 you'd want to look forward to, not 15.0 which will be later.

Windows Tiling. Microsoft Windows has had it for ages and I found it really annoying. Every time the company I worked for issued me with a new laptop it would be one of the first things I'd have to work out how to turn off. Now I'm using a 27" 4K monitor, maybe moving a window around won't end up with it going too close to the edge and the window snapping to a new size.
Like shown in the videos, you can turn it off in System Settings.
Swish, one of those apps you know instantly you'll never uninstall
Did Apple purchase "Magnet" for window tiling? Interesting...
Can Siri/Voice Notes/Voice Memos speak languages other than English? It would be amazing if it could understand Hungarian hahaha! Apple Intelligence would be amazing if it could manage one of the world's toughest languages. But I guess no CPU/NPU power could handle that, haha!
They list English variations on the Sequoia page right now. No doubt this will start with English and then expand later to more languages.
@@macmost let's hope :)
