Well after cooking our adobo we went on a random little day adventure to Malalison Island just across from the market in Culasi, Antique. Known for its beautiful sandbar and hiking... this island is only a 15 minute boat ride from Culasi...
AND IT IS AWESOME!
I had a lot of fun just walking around with Kuya, learning about the area, and eating the most unique wild Filipino fruits I have ever experienced!

woahh! When I was a kid I used to ate that mini fruit/ovary of a flower I forgot what we term it in chavacano, but yes it's really sweet and made our teeth and tounge colored violet. Unfortunate at present such plant we're rare to see in our community because the forest has been destroyed. It's a wild plant and its flowers blooming mostly on the month of May, I remember, we used to pick its flowers to offer to the Virgin Mary during Flores de Mayo.

Kyle, I am sure you would prefer to be your friends in Cebu in January for the Sinulog Festival. January is also the most festive month for Panay Island for the Santo Nino. There is a Santo Nino festival in all of those Sundays celebrated in particular towns in the entire island and in Romblon as well. Sinulog in Cebu coincides with that of Kalibo and any of the two is worth attending. Ibajay, the town half-way between Kalibo and Boracay is usually assigned the last Sunday. It is in this town, specifically it's original location, Boboc-on now a sitio of barangay Naile, is traditionally believed as where this festivity started. Sinulog, Dinagyang of Iloilo and Kalibo Ati-atihan have become a major tourist attraction and maybe too touristy for your taste but you will find that of Ibajay has still its original air. Don't forget the Binirayan Festival of Antique too, it has a lot of similarities with the Ati-atihan but it is a celebration and commemoration of the arrival of the Bornean settlers and subsequent historic barter of Panay and peace pact with indigenous people, the Ati. Take time, if ever you come back, to explore the hinterlands of Panay and enjoy more of the natural beauty it can offer and the famous hospitality of its people. Please take time to be safe. To me, you are a Philippine treasure.
