I can see why people would be mad at this, but it feels a bit overblown. I don't think some people realize this kinda stuff might make Nintendo not wanna make another traditional Paper Mario, just saying..
I fucking called it! The second TTYD fans finally got what they wanted, it was gonna eventually be revealed that some issues would arise. Yeah, the Switch wasn't the best console for it (HECK, I bet if TTYD had been released on the Wii U, game sales would have caused the Wii U to have a resurgence, even if it was on it's deathbed. Yet, the biggest complaint so far is Framerate. There have also been some complaints about dialogue changes....
I'll bet the next complaints we get is not enough new content. So far... They have shown Nothing new like how SMRPG, Superstar Saga, and Bowser's Inside Story has done. How will this game fair since there isn't anything new. Yeah, older fans have waited for ever for this game to finally get remade (probably since Super or even Sticker Star) but the fact that the devs have either been smart and to hide all the bonus content in secret, or the truthfully never added anything new and just did some small changes to help make the game look fresh, in which in that case it might have been either wait for the newest console for the switch, or release it in the style of Super Mario 3d-All stars.
I pray the game does well that it can be seen as a success, but at the same time, I don't want Nintendo to get extremely lazy and think (Oh, why don't we just remake SPM next or remake PM64) and then continuously remake these OG games again and again and again. It's honestly why I am honestly fearful for Paper Mario in 2028. Because depending on how Nintendo reacts, based on this one Paper Mario Game, could honestly be the end of the franchise as a whole. I want Paper Mario 7 to use an improvement of TTYD's gameplay style, and not get another remake.
This game will be interesting, and I'm curious to see how it fairs in a month from now.
But I'll bet that there will be people who will say "Just Play the original. it's way better"
If they add luigi's side adventure as DLC, the fans MIGHT be happy enough about this game.
@@thewanderingchelmet but that means this game is worth more than $60 (depending on DLC price)
@@goldenyoshistar1 Yeah, if they do add that it should be included with the game and not DLC.
It's sad that we got so many upgrades like quality of life changes, new animations, battle music that changes depending the area, revamped graphics and music, you can switch to the GC version ost though a badge, even each single character have their own dialogue sounds and sadly... People state that will not buy it just because it's 30 FPS instead of 60FPS and because of the dialogue change in the underground trio of Goombas.
I DON'T CARE IF THE REMAKE IS 30FPS! I'M GONNA PLAY IT AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THOUSAND YEAR DOOR ALL OVER AGAIN!!!
I don't understand this fanbase at this point. It was a hail mary that we got this remake in the first place after over a decade of nintendo ignoring the fanbase and doubling down on the modern paper mario era. It's important that this game sells well as it may single handedly save the series. I remember people going nuts and some crying when this game got announced and now we're trying to find as many problems as we can to hurt the sales and the tear the game apart. At this point the game looks good, sound good, has quality of life improvements, and despite this here is part of the fanbase trying to cast some shade on the remake. I think it's just unnecessary nitpicking at this point.
I can understand the argument. How the game looks in the map is only half of the experience. How it sounds is important, but even less. Battle is the main combat, so for things like timed button presses to be worse or easier does sound kinda bad. I'll will still buy it though. Been wanting to try it for ages and it's better then spending a hundred dollars on the gamecube version.
Do people just...not comprehend the fact that fanbases are not hiveminds?

Frame rate has a direct relationship to the gameplay experience. It really does make a big difference. This game is so treasured and people have wanted others to experience this game for so long. Not having 60 fps is not going to feel the same
@@codyaaron3371 God forbid Ms. Mowz kissing Mario isn't at the frame rate of a Call of Duty game.

I seriously can't believe that people are already hating this game just because the framerate. Like seriously WHO CARES?! It's gonna be a great game. It's not gonna be exactly how people what it to be or follow the original to a tee, but this remake is still gonna be enjoyable and if you have a problem with that because of frame rate difference then that's your own problem not the developers.

People keep complaining about the smallest things in this remake its baffling its like ttyd fans dont even want a remake paper mario fans can never be happy
I think nintendo will do what they did with mario rpg, and make the frames easier to hit. cmon guys, its pretty basic.
I grew up with Paper Mario: Color Splash so the FPS will probably not be an issue seeing how that game had an anneurism at f**king steam. Plus this remake is having a graphical update which may chug the power. Also I'd probably assume battles will be bumped to 60 FPS for timing purposes kinda like splatoon.
Battles are still 30 fps, could be changed in an update. We'll have to wait and see
Battles are still 30 and it’s not even a stable 30
@@xian2themax Okay thank you for letting me know. I was just assuming it'd be slightly better than Color Splash.
Sir? Paper Mario Colour Splash on WiiU was full 60 fps!
@@holdenshideout6969 Colour Splash is a 60 fps-game. Animations, battles everything was running in 60 fps.
This game here has halved framerate. Meaning everything, from animations, to battles runs in 30 fps! So it does NOT run like in Paper Mario Colour Splash!
I dont care about framerates, unless it is VERY low.
I grew up on hardware where framerates of 30 were rare for 3D games on console. Heck, Ocarina of Time was 20 when in gameplay and 30 in menues.
This is one of the stupidest arguments ever. I get the fear of frame drops being frequent but go play princess peach showtime and you'll see the literal definition of framerate issues. It ain't that big a deal
It shouldnt be a problem, a lot of other switch games run at 30 fps and you havent seen this mass outrage.
I feel like people are just hating for the sake of it for some stupid reason when this is the most anticipated remake in a long while.
Exatly, that's the reason.
TTYDR gets a LOT of attention right now, and a lot attention mean there will be bad faith actors.
And since the remake doesn't have any weakpoints so far, except the framerate, those people desperatly clinge to the FPS "argument" only to be able to hate on the hype.
My problem is that lowering the frame rate will mess up the timings. For example, superguard timings are 3 frames. After the frame rate is halved, it can’t be 1.5 frames, so they will have to make it harder(1 frame) or easier(2 frames). Knowing Nintendo, they’ll probably make it easier in a game that is already fairly easy.
People are upset because the original game WAS 60fps. But the newer, supposedly better version of the game isn't
@@xian2themax The engine could maybe be running at 60 fps so it's still a 3/60 frame window, just visually 30 fps, I'm not sure though.
Exactly. I don't like TTYD, but that doesn't mean I'm going to try and ruin it for everyone else by analyzing the trailer for discrepancies to nitpick. 30 FPS isn't going to change the whole experience, and it probably is the best, especially since the Switch has been out for 7 years now, so a lot of people have little to no storage. If the game runs smoothly, it runs smoothly. Attempting 60 FPS will probably cause lag spikes, which I'm sure everyone would hate more than every other 1/60th of a second being gone.
Regardless of it's FPS I'm still hyped of this game
Side Note 1 : "TYSK" In the original version of TTYD when you ride the baby Yoshi he makes little squeaky noises but In the remake when you ride him he makes normal footsteps noises
Side Note 2 : They are probably going to increase the frame window for timed button presses

I honestly don't understand why Paper Mario TTYD has to run at 30 fps on the Switch. First of all, there are Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey that are more graphical than any Paper Mario game, and can run at 60 fps. If a game like Mario Odyssey could run at 60 fps on the Switch, and Paper Mario TTYD was 60 fps on GameCube, I see no reason for this game to run at 30 fps. Also, fps isn't just about gameplay accuracy, it's something that makes games look much more immersive because of how smoother motion appears to be. I tend to be forgiving about framerate on older games and some games released for a Nintendo console, but I don't understand why would the developers downgrade the framerate of the remake of a game that can probably run at 60 fps without any trouble. I played the original version for the GameCube, and one of the things I liked about it was that smooth and immersive 60 fps gameplay.
As somebody who still play the original game cube version, I shall take this as a complete W
I understand the 30 fps in the map but in battles.... seriously metroid prime exist and was able to run at 60fps on small corridors
It would be the opposite of my emulator experience. 40-50 in overworld, and 20-30 in battles.
the game will sell well either way. only the hardcore camers care enough about frame rate to not get the game

My problem with 30fps in this case is that I've seen the Switch do better with games that look just as good as The Thousand Year Door Remaster. Metroid Prime Remastered and Super Mario RPG run at a consistent 60fps, and so have several other Switch games like Mario Kart 8 and Link's Awakening HD. Normally, I'm fine with 30fps if the console in question isn't super powerful and can keep it consistent, but in this case, something about a 30fps remaster of a 60fps GameCube game doesn't sit right with me. I'm still gonna buy the game, but I still feel this way about it.
Words taken right outta my mouth.
Another thing is the localization changes from the original game text
That will definitely be fixed with mods not too long after the game comes out. I just wish it was 60, still will enjoy it, but 30 feels awful to me as someone who plays games at 144 fps on PC.
@@MsCerealCatFunny you mention mods to fix the dialogue but you forgot that the first mod that releases of a switch game is usually the 60 fps uncap patch 😂.
@@nintendofan5978 This cannot be uncapped though. The engine of this game is LIMITED to 30 fps. You can´t run the engine in 60 fps. They decided to simply use this 30fps-limited engine.
You would have to use a completely different engine to run this game`s "version" here at 60 fps or higher.
This Paper-Mario Game uses the same engine as "Paper Mario Origami King" which also was limited to 30 fps.
I think it isn't the switch but rather the engine, they probably used origami king engine (that also runs at 30 fps) for improve graphics and release in a short window. I understand the complain but I feel some people are making the situation too drammatic
situation is dramatic since could mean Paper Mario´s death.

Exactly dude I have a labtop that runs streets of rage 4 at 25 to 30 fps and i still love it just because it's streets of rage and it will stay the same for paper Mario.
As a PC gamer where I look at framerate I can understand why people don’t like 30FPS, it’s one of the reasons why I emulate on a PC because I can make use of 60FPS mods
You won´t be able to mod this to 60 fps though. As the engine simply doesn´t support 60 fps. Lol
when "Paper Mario Origami King" cannot be emulated at 60 fps on a PC, this won´t run at 60 fps either.
@@user-in3br2qs8xbut... It can though? There are literally patches available that allow the game to run at 60fps.
Nintendo has been doing very Nintendo things lately, huh.
However, I personally believe that I would sacrifice a few fps for that beautiful scenery.
For me, the problem with 30fps is not the looks, but how does it only run at only 30fps, it's possible to get it running at 60fps but it would need more optimization. Additionally, it would adjust a lot of the inputs, like making the superguard window much bigger
No it´s NOT possible to get 60 fps because it uses the same "Paper Mario Origami King"-engine which is LIMITED to 30 fps only. See? This was made on purpose.
They knew this game would run in 30 fp sonly, the second they decided to use that Switch-Paper Mario engine. Since that whole engine is limited to 30 fps, meaning it can ONLY handle max. 33 ms delays and inputs.
The game would have to be made in a compleely different engine (Such as Paper Mario Colour Splash´s Engine known from WiiU) in order to reach 60 fps.
But maybe it´s simply not possible for Swtich to run this. So it´s stuck to 30 fps because they had to create an own engine.
Finally someone who isn't complaining about the framerate
basic logic would have you assume that timed button presses are adjusted to reflect the difference in performance
It's impossible for the timings to be one to one.
A 3 frame input can't just be halved to account for 30fps.
@@trunguss Maybe it could be 60 fps in engine but 30 fps visually, so it would still be a 3/60 frame timing, just with 30 fps visuals.
@@MsCerealCat Hmm, are there games you know of that do that?
I remember in the past, thinking about how games would feel if they were like this. But I never bothered looking into if it'd been done.
@@trunguss Dragon Ball FighterZ and GGS do that for example, the games run at as much high FPS as possible but the characters are made to look animated on 2s(?). It's a stylistic choice to give the game an anime feel.
@@MsCerealCat That doesn't feel possible. Some games do make their visuals look like they're at 30fps, but that's because they mimic cartoon/anime animation. TTYD Switch isn't going for an anime feel at all, it's trying to recreate the original game with more realistic lightning and paper mache feel.

Even at 30 FPS, the animation in the TTYD remake is still smoother than TOK
TOK was also 30FPS. And since the TTYD remake is newer, its expected that it looks better.
The only thing is the framerate might mess up superguard timings, but I think that will just make it more interesting for veterans.
5:50 No, it a 3/60 window translates to a 1/30 window rounded down. They will likely round it up to 2/30 of a second or 3/30 due to both Unsimplifier Badged

There is a reason "ToTk" is no longer being alked about. Because it sucks.
Nearly nobodyy uses 3/4-pkayer mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (since Switch in general is BAD for multiplayer-games).
People don´t like 30 fps in Pokemon eiher (and it´s more like 10-20 fps there).
Botw can be played in much higher fps on even WiiU if you want to (because this game was artificially limited in fps on WiiU). Now you can OC your GPU of WiIU by just 50 mhz with some ehem software and hardware-trick and boom the game will run at 60+ fps.

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE FRAME RATE, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY‼‼‼
The game is fine at 30fps. I waited for a game like that. It so nostalgic to be able to play it. The only think that feel different is how much coins and items they gave you.
The game will probably be faster than when I used to play it anyway as I am in Australia and back then we played on 50hz TVs instead of 60hz which made the game feel really slow
The first time I really noticed low frame rate, was when I played Bowser's Fury, and then switched to 3D world on Switch in handheld mode. After switching games, 3D World felt like the most high quality and smooth game in existence. I was literally reflecting on my entire life.
The problem with it being 30 FPS is that Super Guard needs precision and would need to be adjusted for it but it isn't as Good Vibes Gaming said.
30 fps looks nearly identical as 60 fps, how are people still mad at a console with “outdated” hardware when it barely makes a difference??
No it doesn´t. 30 fps does NOT "look nearly identical to 60 fps" lmao...there is a BIG difference.
And then when you go from 60 to 120 fps then there is only a small difference (but you can still see a difference there). And then from 120 fps + there is only a minor difference, that some people are able to see. others will not even be able to see taht difference any longer.

I can even tell differences from 60 to 300 fps!
@@user-in3br2qs8xI have 20-20 vision and I can’t tell the difference between 30 and 60
For me, framerate is very much a "you get used to it on a per-game basis" type of deal. If I normally play a game at 60fps, then immediately watch some footage I recorded of that game at 30fps (my entire editing workflow is tied to 1080p30 and I would have to rework _literally everything_ to make it 1080p60), or the other way around (watching recorded footage, then going off and playing that game at full framerate), sure, _then_ I'll notice it. But between a game I always play at 60fps, and a _different_ game I always play at 30fps? I genuinely don't notice, because they're separate experiences and I'm just used to them being at their respective framerates.
Another thing that freaks people's beans: Homestar Runner, one of the OG internet animated series of all time, to this day, even post-Flash and with simul-uploads to CZcams, is still animated at _12fps._ And yet literally nobody cares about the "sluggish" framerate, because it's _meant_ to be experienced at 12fps. To that point, if PMTTYD-R is _designed around_ the 30fps limit and things rebalanced properly (input timing windows, etc), I don't think anyone will mind or care that "it's not 60", once they've played it and gotten used to it.
I only care about the framerate on online games, to be honest. Not saying that the people who cares are wrong, its just my opinion. But if its not like 10fps or below on an singleplayer game is good enoough for me. But if its an online/multiplayer game, i think it does mather. But still, 30fps is still enough for me to those games too. Its better on 60fps, i agree, but if its 30fps its usually more than enough for me to have fun playing the game. But thats just because im not a competitive player: i play to have fun, winning its just a consequence that makes me even happier. For competitive players, the more fps, the more reaction time the player have. But since its a singleplayer campain game, i think even for competitive players it should be enough, i dont see why the fuss about it. Its not like theres a ranking system and people need to be the absolute best. So if you arent a speedrunner, 30fps on this game will not be a problem.
That is my opinion. If you disagree feel free to write your opinions down here ⬇️
With the trailers, the game looks better than then GCN version.

Honestly, this is ridiculous. So many gamers are just spoiled at this point. I remember when I could have a blast playing some of my favorite games ever on my N64 which most games only ran at 20 FPS! And on top of that, had blocky graphics, and only 240p output. And I'd still rather go back and relive those classics over buying most of the new games that come out today, especially AAA games. I'm starting to feel like the spoiled and privileged mentality of gamers in recent years is what's contributing to the downfall of gaming. Because everyone's so worried about having perfect specs, graphics, framerates, resolutions, etc. etc. that less development focus is being put on the real and original reason as to why we play games, WHICH IS TO HAVE FUN.

You won´t be able o play Swich 1-games on Switch 2 since "Switch 2" won´t be its name It will be called "Ninendo Focus" which is most possible right now.
@@user-in3br2qs8x I use 3rd party controllers more than the joycons, so I'm not too concerned about that. But I've heard it'll be backwards compatible from other sources, so we just have to see when the official announcement happens.
The framerate complaints... I couldn't even see a difference. The only thing I can see possibly being an issue is action commands, but I'll bet I can become accustomed.
I'm only gonna be upset if the fps dips below 30fps. Regardless I'm still excited and extremely grateful for this remake. ❤
6:40 other clips of that same scene were fine
This game is even haven't realeased
they cannot change framerate of his game. Engine is limited to 30 fps. lol. Switch-engine that´s why.
Past Paper Mario-games weren´t limited to 30 fps since they ran on a non-limited fps engine.
I had a stroke trying to read this
The only thing im angry at is that they changed the shadow sirens to the three shadows.
That is accurate to the original Japanese version, though.
I don't care the three shadow sirens is still better 😭😭😭
Censorship is not acceptable
I dont even pay attention to the framerate at this point. I Just play to enjoy.
idk guys, i think it’s safe to expect a 2024 full price remake of a 20 year old game should also have the performance of a modern game.
i love nintendo but it is crazy how they charge so much for smaller scale games that can’t even reached modern performance standards.
the issue is less of “omg it’s 30 fps not 60 that’s so unplayable”. it’s more like “why is a multi billion dollar conglomerate releasing a full price 2024 game at 30FPS when the original 20 years ago was 60”.
Blame the hardware, not the devs, even then its not that big of a deal
@@johnmehlman5195 paper mario is a small scale RPG with micro scale environments. there’s no reason it can’t be 60 FPS when Mario Kart 8 and Mario Odyssey, or Splatoon etc are.
the hardware makes sense for BOTW or TOTK being 30, but Paper Mario is due to lazy optimisation.
@@cwega2463 lazy? Im sorry are we looking at the same game, or are you just mad for the sake of it
@@johnmehlman5195 i said the optimisation of the is lazy since it’s 30 fps. do you not know what optimisation means…
it’s a one to one remake of a 20 year old game with no new content outside of quality of life improvements. for full price. how is that not the definition of lazy.
We have to tackle some things first , the first one is that the Nintendo Switch is an extremely weak system, specially nowadays, so comparing it to a modern game standarts is kind of disingenous.
The second , is the engine they are working into, as Paper Mario Color Splash and TOK runs at 30 Fps, and TTYD is using that same engine. Making it 60 FPS is changing an entire engine, its just not a toggle button they refused to do so.
Btw, that is smaller scale doesnt mean it isnt demanding, Luigis Mansion 3, also has a 30 FPS framerate, despite only having to focus on one only room.
On reume I feel that you are very nitpicky actually jumping comment to comment to people defending it.
Forget the framerate (which is a problem, don’t get me wrong), I’m more concerned about all the censored dialogue
if framerate is really that bad of an issue then people can just emulate it and play it on pc
It’s what I’m gonna do
thats what I was thinking. Im waiting for the 60 fps patch.
@@nintendofan5978 It cannot be patched. Engine itself is limited to 30 fps.
30 vs 60, will it be noticed? it absolutely will be, question is, will people actually care? I doubt it. Dips will be noticed far more often, so if 1% lows are 25 or so, I'd rather see a frame cap of 30 as a dip from the 50s to the 20s will be far more noticeable and far more infuriating when you miss an input because of it than being capped at 30.
A consistent framerate is far far more important than a high average.
I think it’s a marketing thing. Switch 2 comes out next year, and this games will totally be running at 60 on that. Even if Nintendo could squeeze out 60 on the regular switch if they wanted to, they want to give people reasons to move onto the new switch since the new switch is very likely going to be cross compatible with games.
Switch 2 is said to not named "Switch" at all. And it will use a different controller and not support joyconns (see latest rumours). That´s clear allready.
Switch 2 won´t be Bc to Switch1-games. The new Switch2 (or more like "Ninendo Focus") games will require a completely new designed cartridge-slot.
Which is is capable of using low-cost-128 or even 512 Gbyte-memory. There won´t be a Switch-cartridge-slot any longer.
I don't particularly care if a game is running at either 30 or 60 fps, as long as it runs stable enough that any frame drops isn't too significant of a disturbance while playing. Ironically for me, it's when a game can get to some significantly higher framerates that starts to bother me with how it feels too fluid for me to the point where I just have to look away to recompose myself. As long as the game can stay within 10 or so frames, I can generally deal with it without any major issues.
Tbh, I'm far more upset about the possibility of Spin Dash being gone than the frame rate
i dont realy care about the framerate i just hope its a good game
7:39 Wait Super Mario Rpg runs better in handheld?
The Switch is 7 years old so is 30fps that bad?
Super Mario Odyssey released over 6 years ago, it's more graphical than Paper Mario TTYD, and runs at 60 fps, so for a game like TTYD it's kinda unfortunate.
I'm a nintendo fan
What does that mean?
It means he is afraid of 30fps
It doesn't
Ooooh game runs at 30fps
Stop it patrick you're scaring him
😂
I'm just going to buy it and have fun. And for anyone who still thinks it's a remaster not a remake, search it on CZcams and you'll see that there are several videos explaining why it's a remake and what the difference is between a remake and a remaster.
This isn´a Remake or a Remaster. It´s a DEMAKE (see GTA 1-3 Trilogy "Remaster") or a De-Master. However you want to call it.
I mean go ahead and buy the inferior product, who’s to stop your decision.
As for me, the seas and mods.
If they did a remake of an EarthBound game, it would HAVE to be 30FPS.
The game should be fine running at 30fps, EXCEPT the batles in whichly individual frames are directly linked to action commands and guards/superguards
I don't care about framerate I am mad because of the censorship the was found in the game
I mean it’s not that serious. Like sure i get people’s pov bout how they have a problem with the frame rate being lower. I kinda agree and see where they’re coming from cus how does a remaster/remake have a lower frame rate than the one almost 2 decades ago?? But it doesn’t change the fact that we’ll enjoy it.. the game, the storyline, the plot and all, the advanced visuals, everything.
I think people are more annoyed at some of the dialogue changes. Gamers don't like censorship, especially if they consider that there's nothing wrong with the original dialogue.
paper mario sticker star gets no love ever
Doesnt deserve any, besides the soundtrack
@@johnmehlman5195the soundtrack slaps but the game itself IS HORRIBLE like a wolf in sheep’s clothing
