Ok I have ocd....left muffler hanging lower then the right, and one side of the fuel tank hangs lower...damn it I'm getting older too... But the idle is damn perfect!!!! Crisp, and music to the ears of an old school car fanatic.
Thats whats up! Has that classic "106°" sound! Whats the LSA on the cam; i built a 327 with a custom grind solid lifter cam that was somewhat based on the old 30-30 cam, had faster ramps and a LSA of 107°, most people thought it was a thumpr cam lol! Nice ride sounds freakin healthy!
For everyone asking about the mufflers, most of the old muscle cars are tricked out with long tube headers and a fat cam like this one! Open headers are fine with me!
I hate when "Big block Chevelle" videos sound terrible because of (insert reason here... usually poor camera equipment which equates to poor sound). This is not one of those videos. Short, sweet, and to the point... and the point is badassedry. This succeeded.
Quick question. If I were to upgrade my engine to a 383 that makes 510 horses from a stock 305, what will I need to change? Ohh and by the way, that engine sounds nasty and angry!
Just toss the 305 m8, no point in stroking out what is essentially an already stroked 283. trying to stroke it out will just cost you even more RPMs. Get a 5.3 if you want modern, or a 4 bolt main 350 and stroke that, or just pick up a 400 small block Coming from a person who owned a 305 for years. They're ok for what they are, but they aren't designed to be power makers
@@swappedoutZ71 no way man. All I run is 400 sbc. Have two of them! 1 is 10:4:1, aluminum heads , custom grind cam, T&D shaft rockers, some pretty good stuff. Punched out to a 408. Runs on 93 pump gas and has a 100 shot of spray. Other one is a 406 sbc. 12:1 flat tops in it. Runs on 108 leaded race gas. Iron headed and cast race intake on that one as well. So it’s a full iron small block. Made 650 naturally aspirated, and 863 on a 200 shot. Ran 9.80 on motor and 8.90 with the 200 shot. Iron block, iron heads, and cast intake. Love the 400’s. If you know how to build them they’re probably the best small blocks you can build. Torquey suckers too!

How can a get a good sound without sounding like my car is going to cut off........I like this but at the same time I dont...can anyone recommend a happy medium for me
Get exhaust cutouts. Especially if you have a v8. It can sound quiet when you want it and then when you push a bottom it opens up the exhaust and it could possibly sound like this if you have a camm just like it ...
Have to choose the right lobe seperation cam. With cams there is lift, duration, lobe seperation, and intake centerline. LSA or libe seperation is what creats the lope or chop because both exhaust and intake valves are open VS one closing as soon as the other opens aka stock applications with the bumbumbumbumbum idle. Tighter LSA mean loss of lower end and sometime midrange torque and power. "Big" cams usually function as high rpm modifiers in engines. If you want low end grunt and quick up to 100 mph, usually a mild to stock cam will provide that with little to any lope at all. Want to churn to about 60 then rip loose to 150mph+? Tight LSA with high duration cam. Only way to compensate for loss of low end power in a small block with a big cam is with forced induction. OR, one could build a big block, cam it, and still twist chassis down low but a small block sure can s.cream
I commented two years ago and told someone below what exhaust this is. Take more then 10 seconds and look/read the comments. I don’t answer the same question 4 times over.
