I have read that dish soap is not good to use, but i have used a bit in water and mopped mine for years. I do damp mop, but i ring out the excess moisture and put a fan on the floor to dry it quickly. You definitely dont want to apply somthing like Murphys oil soap or conditioners that you would use on natural wood. its vinyl, it just needs to be kept clean without residue.
I use a drop of dish liquid in warm (not hot) water, and so far, so good. The two of us don’t bring in a lot of dirt or traffic (shoes get removed at the front door), so that helps. I might look into buying the neutral ph floor cleaner from Zep.
My new house has vinyl plank flooring, and I got a flat mop that can by used dry for sweeping or damp - works great so far. I have a spray bottle with a spoonful of dish soap, for easy cleaning. The head (microfiber tufts) is fairly flat, swivels, and is easily removed for washing.
Hi I have just put down ecocore 360 vinyl flooring in all my rooms did not know if it was safe to use my Bisset crosswave that I have had for years thanks for your help.😊😊😊
I have a question! My Duralux floor seems to attain prints of shoes, pet paws, even my bare feet…. I’ve cleaned my floors but if I look at the glare I can see the markings of the prints still…. It’s the weirdest thing, I can’t figure out how to remove them. Which is how I ended up here! Any tips?
Thank you for the info. Do you have any recommendations for deep cleaning? My floors are very light and the vinyl has lots of tiny grooves that don't get clean with regular mopping. I have to get on my hands and knees with a scrub brush to get them clean.
Hello, I just installed Luxury vinyl planks throughout the house. I noticed that by the entry from the garage into the house, the flooring is grimy i used the cloth that the installer left behind but I had to wash it and wash it (the rag), can't use a mild soap, vinegar or ammonia, what can I use? 😢. My husband is Italian, if he spills tomato sauce, or I spill oil, how do I clean it? If the men used the bathroom and I see some spots on the floor, near the toilet, how do I handle that?😢
What do you think about adding a lil bit of baby oil to the cleaning solution??? My floors look so dull now and lifeless I use a microfiber mop and spray bottle of water and dish soap.
That mop looks good. I am looking for similar for my engineered wooden floor in kitchen, mops get too wet. I currently use one of those that have a small spray at the front . How dry does it wring out and how many passes do you need before it's dry enough to use?
Hi Justin 👋 I usually wring it a couple of times out of habit but once is probably enough to be honest. The only thing I don’t like about it is the pole isn’t that strong - we broke our last one!
@@GeorginaBisbyDIY thanks for the reply ! Oh dear, that doesn't sound good, did you have to buy replacements? I do like the fact it has ridges to help wring it out. Might give it a try, as I need another way to clean the floor :)
I’ve been using an o cedar spray mop, and I just seem to be pushing the dirt around. I didn’t know you could use the type mop you are using. So it’s okay to spread a thin layer of water?
Luxury plank flooring is essentially waterproof. It will not warp from water sitting on it. This flooring is sold as waterproof and is made of vinyl. Hi heat is a bad idea, why, because heat expands things.
@@wendyangel2722 yes. Getting excess water under the flooring is bad, like under the trim at the edges because it will mold. This is a vinyl product. Same materia as most kiddy pools.
Water won't hurt the flooring. But it will get in the seams and be trapped underneath, absorbed into walls, baseboards ect that can cause rot and mold you won't see. If you ever think you got a "flood" lift the flooring to dry it out then replace it

Sounds like a good approach : )
Which mop did you buy?
So don’t clean the floor, got you!
First avoid getting it dirty😅
Cool to start on the floor itself, so real and grounded.
I use a bissel cross wave and either Zep oh neutral floor cleaner or the Bissel all floor cleaner. Year 5 and they still look new

Thank you for sharing! Moving into a home with this kind of flooring.

Very Good Video
This video is so helpful! Thank you! Love the furniture. Where did you buy it from? Your floor is looking great👌!
Glad it’s helpful 😊 Furniture is from Ikea
Sounds like vinyl flooring is a bloody nuisance

I wouldn't bother personally - it's not water soluble so you'll probably just end up with patches of baby oil which could be slippery.
What non skid mat backing are ok to use? Worried about staining the floor.
Informative video!! Thank you 🥰

I was planning to buy a mop similar. Is this from Amazon? Can I know the brand name please.

what do you recommend using to clean vinyl plank floors that have a pet stain.
I would look whether the floor manufacturer has any products that can help. LVT shouldn't stain easily.
Replace those boards, that's how it's designed to get you to buy more
I have same issue, going to experiment w vinegar because another DIY recommended
To just dust floors can I use swiffter sweeper ?
Where can I purchase that PH Neutral cleaner you referred to? Was it Condines?

Hi
I’m a newbie here.

What’s the name of your floor mop/ bucket please ? ❤

I was told not to use water to clean my floor and that water could leak under the seams of my newly installed LVP. What do I use to clean it?

I keep sweeping up sand from this vinyl floor, where's it coming from and how to fix this problem.
Are you using any rugs? I had a rug that shed sand!
Thanks!😊
What do you mean by washing up liquid?
Think it’s called dish soap in the US - for washing dishes 😊
Clorox and water is good idea too?
No, bleach is a very bad idea!
Omg! You are stunning!
Can you share the name/color of your floors, please?
Mine color is ice cube
Do you think it would be ok to use a steam mop on LV floors once just to disinfect it?
What about murphys oil soap?

Not all. Just installed Gaia Rivas 9" planks and it is awesome! LVP has come a long way! Now, to just keep it that way 😉...
