The costs primarily involved in constructing PP&E will consist of direct materials, direct labor and overhead (both variable and fixed). However, if PP&E is constructed with debt (either directly loaned for the purpose of construction or already existing debt) interest will be capitalized to the value of the of the asset being constructed.
