From Season 3, Episode 9: "Fall"
He wasn't always Saul Goodman, ace attorney for chemist-turned-meth dealer Walter White. Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque's most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He's a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash. Jimmy works with private eye Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia cop and recent transplant to the Southwest. Mike has a specialized skill set -- he's a "fixer" of sticky situations -- that Jimmy soon learns to appreciate.

Hector: *orders Gus to move his product up north.*
The Cartel: *decides that this is a much more efficient way of moving their products and keeps it that way*
Hector: *Surprised Pikachu face*
That was a half measure because Mike messed up his truck line, it’s only temporary as he said. He has a plan to build a new line with Nacho’s father’s shop. But if they decided let Gus dictates transportation, Hector would lose the proactive of his drug business,
hector didn’t agree with his supply line being used in the first place.
@duckcap250 I hope his plan for his new supply line works out,him and Nacho's dad will probably be great business partners
Gus probably thought after seeing Hector struggle and take his pills "No you do not deserve to die or be in a coma until i've wiped out your entire family and the cartel."
Really, considering what a horrible boss Hector is to work for, that shouldn't be surprising for his underlings to be somewhat resentful. Eladio himself suggests that he is used to his subordinates hating him as well.
I think It was the pill bottle he saw hector drop and spill them then noticed nacho gave the paramedics a full bottle
@@PeggysLifeexactly what is was
@@justinguyos5476 I think he meant it on a more personal level, like having a little hate for him for ordering the death of his brother is okay because yeah, that was family. But as long as the hate doesn’t grow to say, o idk killing him and destroying his entire cartel in the span of an hour, then it would be bad.
@@AnthonyBlamthony I am just saying that Nacho giving a mean stare at Hector having a heart attack shouldn't be that suspicious to anyone watching. Hector and his family are awful people to work with and Gus should know that.
"Everything moves through the Chilean" what if that meant Gus had to personally go to Mexico and swallow bags of meth, like a regular mule?
Nah that’s what he has Tyrus and Victor for.
You fucking know Gus would pull that off with class and diginity.
This ain't prison where there are lowlifes doing that lol.

@@fireworkstarterI don't think there's a reason
Wait till lyle hears about this one.
If I remember, didn't Hector bring this whole new arrangement on himself by initially forcing the routes on him? With the exception of Lalo, no one from that wing was
very bright.
Hector not only forced the routes onto Gustavo; he intimidated his entire restaurant staff, deliberately sat in Fring’s office, and blatantly peeled sh*t off his shoe onto Fring’s desk.
Hector wanted to insult Fring & make him feel powerless by forcing him to move his product.
…and cunning Gustavo Fring made himself appear outwardly apprehensive & compliant; when secretly this was EXACTLY what he wanted Hector to do.
He made his enemy believe that what they were doing would serve their own interests; when in fact it actually harmed them.
yeah, he intended this as a power move to either make gustavo seem weak or get him caught, which backfired because it only showed that gus could carry on the operation on his own and therefore hector wasn't needed anymore
@@MisterSmith00 ...Exactly.

do you think the constant clicking of his lighter is parallel to the constant ringing of the bell
Yes
Gus’s expression at 2:08
It’s rare to see him surprised or worried
This a self-inflicted problem, Hector forced Gus to move his product since Hector's transports were compromised by Mike. IF Hector would've just left Gus alone & found a new way of moving then Eladio wouldn't have seen how much Gus can safely move and how Gus's operation was much more discreet than the "Normal" tactics the Cartel was using.
Worded it so well
This is the first time I’ve come across this scene posted on CZcams. 👏

More like he wasn't happy that Hector was having this because he wants him to be alive when he takes out the cartel and his family.
@@bencheveryday Well, it was, but indirectly: knowing that Hector requires the pills is how he knew that Nacho switching them was important. This is the baseline information he needed, so that the later events had proper context.

I love how Victor is staring at both Nacho and Arturo in this scene, he's such a menace and was so useful but gus turfed him off with a fuckign box cutter i mean come on
Gus's face at 2:06 seems to be genuine concern to me. Pragmatic concern of course.
Poor nacho. If he hadn’t switched the pills, gus would have had nothing on him, and hector would have been forced to back off from nachos dad.
Well What do you expect When Gus hold His Father Hostage??? Beside Even if Hector Never Had A beef with Varga He Can't Help Him Very Much due Restrictive Rules By Eladio. There's Unwritten rules Within Cartel Which Sounds Like Mafia that They shouldn't Not to fight Each other Without Good Reason.
Odds are Gus would’ve had him killed like he did Arturo to try and create chaos in Salamanca operations.
If nacho hadn't switched the pills, he still ran the risk of the hospital staff figuring out the medicine did not work. It may be a slim chance, but if the cartel were looking at who worked closely with Hector to figure out who gave him the fake medicine, Nacho would be their prime target.
Hector would have began a war with Gus and the cartel.
"Took you long ee nuff!"
This is the moment that Don Hector turned into a blowfish😅
😂
I love Gus Fring’s ability to keep his cool under such high stress and high pressure situations. For any other person, it would ve been a near death experience that would've changed their lives, but for Gus, it's just another miserable Monday (and he looks pretty annoyed that the encounter got to that point).

What a big baby.
You just know hector was SERIOUS back in his prime. I couldn’t imagine the things he’s done and has done to him and his family to get to where he is. There is a reason he earned don status in the cartel. I don’t know why they don’t make a “ Salamancas “ show. Find someone to play a young hector, and the whole crew making their mark in the criminal underworld. The can call it “ Michoacán “ I would personally would pay to watch it. Could you imagine ? If I wrote it i would go into super detail about hector, the twins, and don eladio.
Reminds of that moment when Lalo says “I’m gonna hurt him, hurt him like you taught me.” Makes one curious what sort of effed up stuff Hector taught his family
Personally, I feel like Gilligan flew as close to the sun as he could have without going up in flames with BCS... Having the audience imagine entire stories based on narrative implications(like little things that are mentioned or hinted at) is a product of rich and thoughtful storytelling, but it doesn't mean it could carry an entire show or movie. Gus's past is another thing that is lightly touched upon a couple of times, but sometimes it's more interesting to speculate, discuss and theorize rather than have a whole show or movie that just lays it all out.
See: Prometheus, Solo, Star Wars prequel trilogy, The Many Saints of Newark, etc...
Though I suppose if anyone could pull it off, it's Vince Gilligan!
@@DunklerZebralord EXACTLY. I know it’s a fictional show but I think it’s based on a real type of cartel. I mean that IS where the super meth comes from. Also I know a Mexican in Tennessee……… well KNEW…….. long story, but he would make trips to Texas once a month and come back to Tennessee with literally 2 TRASH BAGS……( seriously the big ass black trash bags…. 2 of em every month ) stuff as much as they possibly could be with kilos of the Mexican super meth…… hard story to believe, but I have SEVERAL people that will tell the exact story. My dude Manuel. Biggest drug dealer I ever met. One time a month when he got back his house would have like 50 people come in a 2 days period every 1st or 2nd of the month. Then nothing until about the third week of the month he would have the same ( estimated ) 50 people would come over throughout the week, walk in the house with duffle bags and walk out worth nothing. Then he would make his trip to Texas again. One of the coolest neighbors I’ve ever had. That man seriously was sending a million or more a month across the border. And like I said he worked all together about a week out of the month. He had a wife that owned a strip club and was funneling his money through there. I’ve heard conflicting stories about him, I heard the feds finally got him, then I heard he got killed by someone in America, then I heard the cartel in Mexico killed him….. then the last ( and hopefully true ) story I heard was him and his wife sold the strip club, took all their money and bought a farm wayyyyyyyyuu out in the beautiful country side of Mexico and they live like king and queen and never have to worry about money for the rest of their lives. I lived next to Manuel for about 3 years and he had already lived in his house when I moved in and I would see the traffic for about 3 or 4 days a month. I can’t imagine how much money he had. This was back from 2009-2013. Seriously the biggest drug dealer I ever met. Never seen him sell to any junkies or anything like that. Just dudes driving nice vehicles with duffle bags. My man was a REAL duffle bag boy.
@@BilliamBusey Good point.
Although I would love to watch a show like this or watch Gus's past as @BilliamBusey pointed out going around and filling in all the details would probably ruin the show. While Vince and probably do it, I feel like the show wouldn't be as good as these two, because it would constricted by plot armor, like BCS was to some extent. I feel he had more room to play here because the main characters of BB(Walt and Jesse) were not playing any significant role in this series. I can't help but feel Lalo had a lot more story left in him, but he had to go due to the plot armor Gus had. With the added baggage of the storylines from BCS and BB, each new prequel would get harder to construct like and original show.
The rhythm of Hector's lighter fidgeting feels like the opening to a Bjork song.

Hector should have said "I Hear you" before smashing the phone
Gus and Hector both know he hates them, but both no there's no way of proving that to Eladio who's blinded by the money. You can see Gus pass a snarky expression here and smile for a second when bolsa says the chicken trucks will be the only way the product will move from that point on. It was almost as if Gus was saying I won and now you'll see what I would do to you. On the other hand you can see through hectors expressions that he wants to kill gus at this point but is powerless to do so. Both Giancarlo and Mark are amazing in this scene.
You can see Gus ever so slightly smirk at 1:14 as he basically won and is trying to hide his excitement
Next day Hector wakes up to door knocking

In the late 90s, a young Vince Gilligan had a hot date planned for the weekend but his car had a flat tire. He tried to call his girlfriend and tell her he wasn't going to make it, but his cell phone had no service. She thought he stood her up, and broke up with him the next day. Vince swore in that moment that he would dedicate the rest of his life to the violent destruction of flip phones.

Gus expression at 1:18 is great.. i bet his chilean inner-voice is saying something like "ahí queaste, viejo reculiao" 😂
With terrible pronunciation. I like to think everyone is the cartel have speech impediments to that’s how they all became friends.
I'm not a fan of Chilean seabass.
What does he mean by 'new method of transportation'? I thought Gus had alraedy been using his trucks for a long time
He meant how everyone in the cartel will move their product with Gus's trucks from now on, instead of using their own mules
The cartel is, like the name implies, actually a sort of alliance or confederation of mostly independent operations under certain “families”, all united under the big boss. Don Eladio sits atop them all, but Don Bolsa and Don Hector (presumably alongside other families) ran their own operations. Gus Fring isn’t Mexican, so he can’t be a member, let alone a Don, and is technically an associate of the cartel under Bolsa. That’s why we see so much of Bolsa acting as intermediary between Gus and the Cartel. This scene basically means that the big Don has granted more power and responsibility to the corrupted Bolsa operation dominated by Gus at the expense of a degree of the other families’ independence. Now, Gus doesn’t just move Bolsa’s product, he moves the product of the entire cartel and could theoretically hold that flow hostage if a conflict arose.
It's worth noting that Hector had been using his ice cream company as his front, but Gus and Mike sabotaged his supply line and so Hector demanded to use Gus's trucks instead. This was a calculated move by Gus to weaken Hector's standing in the cartel and make him depend on Gus
Hector didn't want this to be a permanent arrangement, only temporary until he could get his own front back up and running.
